I've just bought the Waterdrop filter after years of using an old Brita with classic filters. The Brita classic filters need to be submerged in water at all times but I've not seen any mention of whether this is necessary with the Waterdrop and, just like in your video, I keep seeing the water level below the filter. Is there some clever shenanigans going on that is stopping the Waterdrop filter from drying out?
Got a reply from Waterdrop and they said "if you don't leave the filter unused for a very long time, you don't need to worry about that the filter will be dry. Only if you pour some water into the pitcher, the filter will keep wet. You don't need to keep the filters always wet." So there you go.
I guess thier argument around alkalinity may be they if you mix the water with something, for example coffee low alkalinity could be an issue as pH will drift more than if it was higher affecting taste. Certainly health wise it would make no difference good or negative.
What about buying both filtering devices and running all your water through each before using? Also, because I don't trust corporations looking to increase profits, what about testing after indicator says filter is bad possibly showing filter isn't bad at all?
i thought this EXACT SAME THING! i have the water drop but i want to buy the zero to filter out fluoride, also i need to check and see which one filter out arsenic best because in my area the tap water has higher levels of arsenic.
I bought the Zero Water recently. My original tap water was a not too bad 280 PPM. The Zero Water brought it down to 008. My biggest complain about my tap water was the taste. Not good. Zero Water did the job there. My biggest complaint about Zero Water is the pitcher they give allegedly for placing the filtered water in the fridge for future use. The pitcher, especially the cap assembly, is crap. I am using a different pitcher for that purpose, pouring the filter water into it. My other complaint is that I have not been able to completely seal the screw-on filter to the small tub. It drips a bit of the tap water into the filtered water. That's probably why the reading was 008 instead of 003.
I went to cosmetology school and we learned a lot about ph balance. More science involved in cosmetology than people realize. So for your skin and hair, you need acidic water. Our skin and hair is naturally acidic. As far as internally, we are supposed to be more alkaline. So for ingestion, alkaline is best, neutral ph is just fine though. Now regarding skin and hair, you don’t want to shower with a filter that makes the water alkaline. Skin is our largest organ and it’s important we are mindful of what we put on our skin which is thus absorbed systemically
For ingestion alkaline is best… not sure if that’s necessarily true. Our stomach is extremely acidic, and our blood is kept at a tight range 7.35-7.45. pH is necessarily a concern, especially for water.
Nope. Most of the human body is acidic. The only slightly alkaline thing in your body is your blood and is mostly neutral. Our stomach acid has a close pH to a necrophage animal.
They also mentioned chloroform is that the same as chlorine. Supposedly on their test, zero water score 41% on filtering chloroform, which seems very sketchy
For those that use zeto water filter. To save on cost of the filters. Use two zero water filters and just use one for drinking the other for filtering. After 4 months just throw away the one use for filtering water. Swap it with the one use for drinking.
I bought a zerowater; it doesn't taste as good as the brita I was using. I might switch to waterdrop. Cheaper overall, and people compare it to the taste of spring water.
I love the Zero water filter. However, I had to change it often. When the filter needed to be changed it seemed like it was ok one day the next it had hundreds of PPM. It was a drastic sudden fail. I still love it though.
I also have been using the Zerowater system for a few years now and I can test when the water changes from 0 to as low as 4 even though they say to change the filter at 6, but if you are seeing your levels go from good to over 50 in one day, I suspect your water is very high in TDS to begin with.
On the video you've mentioned they were not talking about fluoride but for chloroform. On their google sheet they have provided it seems also that the Z.W has eliminated all the chlorine but not the byproduct "chloroform" which is dangerous, hense they have put the Z.W that low. Am I wrong?
I have seen about 5 very filtertests/comparisons here on YT, and the most convincing for me is the ZeroWater. Interestingly the both cheapest filters are in the Top 5. Aqua Crest and Epic Water are too expensive for me. The most important tests are the Fluoride and Chlorene Test, specially for US americans. In some regions they have even toxic water because of the fracking. I for my part prefer the ZeroWater pitcher, because it wins in more points than the Waterdrop and has TDS on incredible 0%, so very trustworthy. I don't wanna have any particles in my water! ;P But both are very good and much better then many others. One other point is, that we use in germany and austria also very much other principles of water cleaning and energizing, for example with carbonite, colloidal silver, semiprecious stones, magnets, swirling it, storing it in amphores of clay, or making water-information procedures in the Masaru Emoto style on glass pitchers... How it's said, many ways lead to Rome. ;) I will try experimental series with different combinations of all methods here mentioned, to find out which is the most convincing, effective and practicable solution.
Be careful. Just because your water company does not add fluoride to your water does not mean that there is no fluoride in your water, quite the opposite is the case in many areas.
Does zero filter rid well.water of bacteria and excess heavy metals? Parasites etc? Also why are you the only one reviewing these? Just wondering if it's your product
I'm reviewing two different filters in this video? I believe that reverse osmosis is the only way to remove bacteria & parasites. However, you can boil the water, let it cool and then filter it.
@Erica Awake yup, I saw so many videos on it. zerowater is one of the only few pitchers that removes fluoride. Only catch is filters will end up costing 2.5x more.
I don't believe that fluoride is added to the water in London so the Water drop may be a good option. As for filter life, I'd imagine the only way to find out is to try it?
@@LivingWellTV I saw a test where it said that the water drop one does not change how hard the water is. However the Zero water one did. I would get both and run the water through both filters. I have been double filtering my water for sometime. I have a fauset mounted pure filter and I run it into a brita pitcher.
It looks like a lot of people who watched the Modern Castle comparison video missed that the lab results (Objective) were done by one company, but those results were then evaluated by a different company, which ranked the results (Subjective). The problem with that is that you can make any of those filters "The Best" or "The Worst" depending on how you weigh each category; category weight is subjective. The bottom line is there is no perfect solution, no perfect water filter. The general conclusion of this video is excellent: Know your local water and establish your priorities regarding what you Don't want in your water and what you Will Accept in your water. Some people resort to buying the water filters of different companies to achieve the best results for them as different filters have different strengths and weaknesses. • Conclusion: Watching these shootout videos provide very helpful information, but their determination of The Winner is not objective. Considering the various filters different capabilities, local water variabilities, cost and subjective qualities such as "taste," there will never be a "Best" water filter. Set personal goals for what you want filtered out and choose accordingly. You have to determine what is "Best" for yourself.
As previously explained, your explanation for the Zero water filters having a fishy smell after only a few uses was not correct in my experience. After only three or four fill ups, the water not only smelled terrible, it tasted sort of metallic and sour. My pitcher was never kept in the sun nor was it kept in warm environment. The really curious thing was the fact that the initial filter lasted months with no foul smell or taste. Zero Water couldn't explain what was causing the problem and they replaced the filters for free a few times but ultimately I gave up because it simply didn't work and was way too expensive to keep using it. I now use a Brita pitcher that uses the filter that filters the water as you pour it as opposed to the normal Brita filter that filters when you add the water. It tastes great and lasts a long time. It also has an indicator to tell when the filter needs to be replaced. I suspect, the flaw in the Zero Water filter is that it somehow chemically reaction with something in my water and there are thousands of other people experiencing the same thing with Zero Water pitchers. Like that original tester mentioned, TDS is not a good measure for the quality of water and many dissolved particles are actually healthy minerals that are desirable for drinking water.
Refering to the Alkalinity I'm looking at buying Zero water as bottled is just not doing it for me anymore and I want healthier clean water but I have also been looking into Alkaline water something I'd like to try in the future if I was to drink zero water then maybe 1 litre of alkaline per week would this throw off my body's ph balance ?also thanks for the video I saw the video on the water drop and all you videos on ZeroWater
regarding your alkalinity slide. "the recommended range for drinking water is 30-400 ppm". waterdrop is within the range at 140, while zerowater is outside the range at ~10, yet you question the waterdrop? also, are you saying high tds is good or bad? your summary said if you have high tds, to consider the waterdrop even tho it had zero effect on tds, whereas the zerowater removed all of the tds.
Funny, I just watched and caught that mistake, however, the recommended levels mentioned are in ppm, parts pert million, and the test was showing mg/L. These are not the same unit of measurment. ppm is a volume-to-volume or mass-to-mass ratio, mg/l is a mass-to-volume relationship. So, who knows what this test actually shows.
Caught that immediately too. Also, he never states his experimental testing method, so we have no idea what variables remained constant, etc. Modern Castle tested 10 DIFFERENT (no focus on zero water) filters, stated their testing method, and provided the raw lab data in an Excel sheet under the video. They even provide links so you can purchase any of the 10 filters in the video. We have no reason to believe they are affiliated with WaterDrop. Unlike in this video, where it is clear this guy has a strong bias toward ZeroWater, which is a bad start to any experiment.
Zero water filter out 23 contaminants and remove the good minerals, giving you a zero total diluted solid measurement (TDS). But it doesn't filter out all the contaminants.

Why? Just because it is a toxic substance that requires a Material Data Sheet number for storage doesn't mean it is toxic or dangerous or anything, does it? Lead is fine for paint and gas too - until it's not. Fluoride was added to our water for the aluminum industries sake, not our teeth. There are studies that seem to indicate that it is actually bad for our teeth. Maybe it is and maybe it isn''t, but chlorine is a deadly gas and likely should be filtered out of your water after it kills the living organisms, just like fluoride should be.
My biggest concern fluoride and chlorine why we put neurotoxins in water. the say its for teeth but it goes right past your teeth and now your body has to deal with worked around fluoride ill pass.

Last year, the government announced that it would be adding fluoride to the water supply where it previously did not exist. And you can raise the ph by throwing in trace amount of baking soda

Great stuff 👏 which water filter are you using to date please?
Does the waterdrop Lucy carafe filter out PFAS (forever chemicals)?
I swear by the zero water. Used daily it lasts us about 4 months before replacement. The water tastes great.
I have heard alkalinity is a good thing?
If you're feeling really crazy do zero water then filter through water drop
Which of the two filters do you recommend?
Are you suggesting that the lab did something dodgy?
I bought the Zerowater after reading reviews and it tastes strange. Much prefer the normal tap water. Might try water drop instead…
That's why I stopped using my zero water pitcher. It was too expensive for unreliable filters
We're you using the nano filter? That one is made for well water vs the pure that is made more for tap water.
Bonjour,
Thank you for thinking this thing through. You raise and address some important points.
I like the way you think. 😜
On the video you've mentioned they were not talking about fluoride but for chloroform.
On their google sheet they have provided it seems also that the Z.W has eliminated all the chlorine but not the byproduct "chloroform" which is dangerous, hense they have put the Z.W that low.
Am I wrong?
Which water filter beside an RO system gets rid of the most PFOS/PFAS?! Check out the film Deep Waters
How about PFAS filtration?
I have seen about 5 very filtertests/comparisons here on YT, and the most convincing for me is the ZeroWater. Interestingly the both cheapest filters are in the Top 5. Aqua Crest and Epic Water are too expensive for me.
The most important tests are the Fluoride and Chlorene Test, specially for US americans. In some regions they have even toxic water because of the fracking.
I for my part prefer the ZeroWater pitcher, because it wins in more points than the Waterdrop and has TDS on incredible 0%, so very trustworthy. I don't wanna have any particles in my water! ;P
But both are very good and much better then many others.
How it's said, many ways lead to Rome. ;)
I will try experimental series with different combinations of all methods here mentioned, to find out which is the most convincing, effective and practicable solution.
Thanks for the video. Where I live there is no fluoride and water is soft. Would you recommend the waterdrop in my case?
I'd say yes.
Be careful. Just because your water company does not add fluoride to your water does not mean that there is no fluoride in your water, quite the opposite is the case in many areas.
@@edd-6182 many of us have well water with zero chloride
@@carriegarman3334 not in England. Its the fluoride that gets you.
Waterdrop is # 1 always !!
Thank you! I spent so many hours researching on filters that removed fluoride and couldn't make a decision just ordered zerowater. Subscribe!
Does zero water remove fluoride? I am also looking for a filter that removes fluoride.
@Erica Awake yup, I saw so many videos on it. zerowater is one of the only few pitchers that removes fluoride. Only catch is filters will end up costing
2.5x more.
@@jennynoeh9673 thank you… do you know if they have glass pitchers?
@@ericaawake9503 I'm not sure.. maybe check their website?
I live near London and our water here is hard would you say to stick with zero water or move to water drop
I don't believe that fluoride is added to the water in London so the Water drop may be a good option. As for filter life, I'd imagine the only way to find out is to try it?
Hmmm🤔. That is a valid point I’d give it a shot see what it’s like. !!! Thanks again and keep up the content!! 🙌
Another youtube episode noted that heat / sunlight killed filters. You may want to keep them in a cool / dark place, like your fridge
@@LivingWellTV I saw a test where it said that the water drop one does not change how hard the water is. However the Zero water one did. I would get both and run the water through both filters. I have been double filtering my water for sometime. I have a fauset mounted pure filter and I run it into a brita pitcher.
I saw the same video. I must agree with you.
Man so what if I fill my water drop then filter in through the water drop 😅 is that gonna work

Any thoughts on choloform?
PH and Alkalinity, check with anyone that maintains a pool or spa!
Has anyone tried the more "primitive" way of filtering water through a stack of clay pots?
Does it reduce fluoride ?
Zerowater does.
not waterdrop at all?@@LivingWellTV
Zero water is the best but the pitcher was designed to look good not work well
Refering to the Alkalinity I'm looking at buying Zero water as bottled is just not doing it for me anymore and I want healthier clean water but I have also been looking into Alkaline water something I'd like to try in the future if I was to drink zero water then maybe 1 litre of alkaline per week would this throw off my body's ph balance ?also thanks for the video I saw the video on the water drop and all you videos on ZeroWater
Your body tightly regulates pH. The water you drink does not change your body's pH.
regarding your alkalinity slide.
I will say that results wildly differ between different locations, so do your own research. These videos are good general results though
This is why ZeroWater is STILL number one even after all of these years!
Zero water filter out 23 contaminants and remove the good minerals, giving you a zero total diluted solid measurement (TDS). But it doesn't filter out all the contaminants.
Fr just switched from purr to zero
I Pre filter the water using the zero water faucet filter worked great for me got it down from 190 TDS to like 180 using the faucet filter 1st then I use a UV sanitizing light to kill the microbes then i use the pitcher got it down to 001 TDS I have well water so cant expect it to be perfect but literally 001 from 180 after faucet filter ill take! Pre flilter makes it last longer and between uses leave it in the fridge makes it last longer and it wont have a fish smell people talk about
No its not.

Clearly filtered dusts both zero water and waterdrop
Idk I've seen several videos where the waterdrop is better than many including the zero. This is the 1st time zero is a winner. Either way it's all better than what my poor body has been dealing with so.....
Why is removing the fluoride good though? It's one of the only additives I'd love to keep in my water.

I want the fluoride out of my water
To absorb materials ph needs to be right
None of those filters filter fluoride
My biggest concern fluoride and chlorine why we put neurotoxins in water. the say its for teeth but it goes right past your teeth and now your body has to deal with worked around fluoride ill pass.
Fluoride?
It's for your body to absorb The level of ph let your body absorb certain things at certain levels and seven and six are good levels to be at
We call it a Jug
not posible to get 0 tds with a water filter, this can only be done with a water distiller, I don;t think this is a true test... but an advertisement for the company's brand, its a good filter, however claiming ppe of zero.... you really have to be a biggot...
Brita taste so bad .. I got urine infection again and again bcox of this fliter
Last year, the government announced that it would be adding fluoride to the water supply where it previously did not exist.
And you can raise the ph by throwing in trace amount of baking soda
