I have a two-stage undersink Aquasana that gets TDS readings of 170, put that filtered water through the Zero Water and get zero TDS for a couple of months, at least. The water tastes great, sweet like distilled. I’m the only drinker so less than a gallon a day. I was thinking the monitor is broken, the filters can’t last that long, but now that I write it out, it adds up.
Copper is necessary for the body. Many people are deficient in this nutrient. Especially women who have been on birth control pills and people who take zinc supplements. This increase in copper for me is a bonus benefit!
Clearly filtered not available in UK unless you want to import from USA. ZeroWater is readily available, next day delivery on Amazon - but many 1 star reviews about filters lasting 2 weeks, and fishy smells…
I bought One filter with pitcher to try it out and I filter it with carbon bloc filter first. Also, I removed the plastic tank for glasses and inox only.
It states in their own literature that you will notice a citrusy smell/ taste when the cartridge needs replacing. Also to monitor the tds regularly and replace the filter when the reading reaches 006 or above
You can pick any inox/glass bottles (1.5 L) and fill them in a row. The filter has a tiny hole where the water comes down and you simply put the filter at the top of the bottles. 1 filter last more than a month (we are 3 people at home).
Although it's not certified against NSF standards for fluoride reduction we do think it's effective, but we don't know for how long in terms of gallons filtered.
Interesting about the potential for copper from the filter. I’ve noticed a gaseous taste in my water lately but it tested at 000. Is there a way I can check if that’s the issue or should I just replace the filter?
TDS meters only measure the conductivity of water. Doing a quick search things like chloride, nitrate, sulfate phosphate anions and sodium, calcium, iron and aluminium cations are conductive. According to the Epic water filters website. A TDS Meter will not pick up: Lead Fluoride Motor Oil Pharmacueticals Pesticides Herbicides Arsenic PFOA PFOS PFCs TTHMs Mercury Copper If a water filter removes all of the conductive ions from water then its possble that everything similar sized (including bad things) would be removed also. So a low TDS score in that case could be a good thing.
First, you are right with what you say about TDS meters measuring conductivity. About the contaminant list you've posted, elements such as lead can occur in water in dissolved or particulate form, so they may or may not contribute to TDS based on that. Your conclusion about everything similar sized being removed is kind of wrong I think, because the ZeroWater doesn't capture the ions contributing to TDS via size exclusion (mechanical filtration) but through chemical reactions and ionic bonding.
@@boswater6065 i was not referring to any particular filter. Just saying if a filter simply blocked large particles from flowing through then it would be easy to gauge what kind of substances are getting through.
I have to agree . It was so slow I fell asleep. I just saw that all the water doesn’t go into the tank either. It only filters so much into the tank then the rest sits in the reservoir
@swappainters5285 Thanks for sharing. Do you have hard water? Slow flow and clogged filters is definitely something we stumbled on going through 3rd party customer reviews.
Not sure if you know this but fake zero water filters exists and its not just zero water ones. The only good thing is those fake ones tend to show up broken or poor quality and almost all the time never fit the filters. You could probably do a video on that if you can find those fake filters and how bad they are.

Superb in-depth review. Thanks from the UK

@@goldenbreath2091where did you find a glass jug that's compatible size wise

Yeah i mostly rely on the filtering speed especially when it's super slow + acide taste= time to change the filter cartridge

I'd love to see Aquaphor water filter test results. Thank you!
Added to our list, thanks!
Hi. Have you reviewed Water2?
No, but I've added it to our list!
So is it legit at removing fluoride? I thought they listed that as being tested on their website 🤯
Although it's not certified against NSF standards for fluoride reduction we do think it's effective, but we don't know for how long in terms of gallons filtered.
For a company to need to include a tester that proves NOTHING is a red flag.
do you have a discount code for the zero water filter replacements?
Unfortunately, no.
@@boswater6065 Okay, thank you. Great video
Thank you!

I don't think that the gaseous taste has to do with copper leaching. Personally, I would just replace the filter and see if that solves the problem.

Mine is slow. Take hours for the water to go down. And it's brand new

Copper pipe is in just about every house built before the year 2000.
Do you know the level of copper that can leach from such pipes?
Do you not mean lead pipe?
@leecromer3289 No, I meant copper pipe. I was assuming @davidwebster3510 mentioned copper pipes because they can also leach copper into the water.
@@boswater6065 And newer houses use PVC ( Plastic ) pipes. I wonder what is worst Copper or Plastic pipes for water quality.
@itsame1742 To be honest, I don't know. Maybe there exists some research on that but I'm not familiar with the topic.
thanks for info but presenter could speak a little slower.
Thank you for the feedback!
