Hello NinjaNerd! I think I may have found a discrepancy in this video around 16:20. During the S phase you state that the cell becomes tetraploid (4n) - I believe the cell stays diploid but has 4C (twice the amount of genetic material) after replication.

    • @michalzatloukal

During endoreduplication, the cell replicates its DNA without going through the usual process of mitosis. This results in a tetraploid cell with four sets of chromosomes. During anaphase. In mitosis DNA content is doubled during S phase resulting in 2n chromosomes having two chromatids so, yea

This is the best ever cell cycle class I had... Really I understood concept very well... I can relate you to one my school teacher, who always made her classes interesting...... You are inspiring me to explain all these concepts in Kannada ( my mother toungue - Karnataka, India).... So that many more students, especially the rural students will continue their studies in science stream... Here in India we the students who studies in local language medium will find it hard to study science, as in higher studies they have to suddenly switch to a English medium...when they switch to English medium they find it hard to understand every word and just opt to move away from science stream... ( even I faced such problems )... Hopefully I can help them in future...

Amazing teaching. Thank you for your great work and ad free videos. I'm happy to support you on patreon. Two things:
    - Personally, I'd move your support call up in your video description so that people can see it without having to click an extra time.
    - If I'm not mistaken though, you might have used the terminology of chromosomes and chromatids a bit unclearly. During the G1 phase, there are 46 chromosomes with 1 chromatid per chromosome (so 46 chromosomes AND 46 chromatids). And after the S phase, there are 46 chromosomes with 92 chromatids (not 92 chromosomes).

@@AhmedSalah-sr3os First, complexity is not the sign of a good designer, simplicity is. If you get 20 designers and give them a specification, and all 20 created designs that meet all criteria, the best designer is not the one with the most complex design, but the one with the simplest design.
Second, it is a logical fallacy - straw man - to refer to evolution as random knocking at the genetic material. For example, you leave out natural selection, which imposes a directionality onto evolution by tending to eliminate deleterious mutations, and to retain - and spread - beneficial ones.

Sir u r saying that chromosome numbers also doubles but I think only DNA replicate i.e 2n to 4n but not the chromosome

When the replication of DNA occurs as a result cell contains twice the number of chromosomes

    • @TonyTigerTonyTiger
      @TonyTigerTonyTiger Год назад

@@mr.izatullahkhan3893 In S phase, the number of chromosomes is not increased. Human cells have 46 chromosomes (2n) in all of interphase, and in prophase and metaphase. It is not until anaphase that the number increases to 4n, when the sister chromatids separate and each becomes its own chromosome.

Why not "son" cells but daughter cells🤣🤣

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but would like to take a moment and appreciate the extra few seconds they left after he walked away to be able to look at all the notes completed on the board. I definitely took a screenshot of it and will be referring back to it to review and make my notes.
Never enjoyed learning about this so much!
    Amazing explanation!!

I can't thank you enough for your great quality videos. After watching a ton of them, I think I've found something wrong. The sister cromatids (already chromosomes after splitting) are pulled toward the centrosomes because the microtubules attached to their cinetocores are depolymerizing. Other microtubules are polymerizing, so force can be applied to the chromosomes. The molecular motors (dynein and kinesin I think you mention) are important because they report the status of the cinetocore to the centrosome. I don't think they could pull chromosomes, they're MONSTROUS.
Thanks again! I'm happy to have most of your lectures ahead of me!

I've been studying something less biology related in my bachelor's and trying to get into a neuroscience master. Your lectures are great, as they condense knowledge understandibly and well organised but are often not as long as a university lecture. Apart from that they are presented in a way that I can take notes from it and actually remember what I was trying to say, when I noted it down :) and you do not have a long intro/outro!

Also kudos for the teaching style again - the great thing about these videos is that they are so easy to navigate through.
