One of my favorite Dimmu Borgir songs ever. Such an awesome middle section

Man, I used to hate Dimmu Borgir. The frog vocals were what I couldn't get over. But they've leaned more towards Galdar's influence from OMC for a while now. Which is top-tier composure for BM imo.

2:07 lame, he's playing 16th notes triplets with his feet instead of 32nd Notes like in the Studio Version. I don't hate Darray in general and this is one of my favourite Tracks from the new album, but i think you should be able to perform your own songs, or make them less difficult
Simon K I agree, i thought he’d be doing double strokes like Francesco Paoli from Fleshgod. I assumed that’s why the bass drums were triggered, but then he played the 16th triplets instead....quite underwhelming for the coolest section in the song.
@@drummersquirrel22 Why would you assume someone is going to use double strokes just because their kicks are triggered? No hate just wondering.
@@BurnTheNuance Because triggers are only really necessary, in my opinion, when really pushing the extreme tempos in metal (like in this track) to help keep clarity between the notes and to compensate for the natural reduction in volume, otherwise the notes themselves just get blurred together and then get lost in the live mix. I just assumed he'd be playing double strokes because he's pushing 32nd notes at 125 bpm for an extended time which becomes NEARLY impossible to keep up using only single strokes so it's much much more practical to employ heel toe double strokes instead.
Basically what I'm saying is, the track is fuckin quick, Daray would need to use double strokes to keep it up accurately and that's why the triggers are there to make sure you can hear it loud and clear.
I see no problem at all, look at David (current drummer of Fleshgod), he has to do 16th notes in "The Violation" instead 32th notes, and still sounds great
@@ichmortus3207 well i'm not hating David either, i think he does a good job with fleshgod, if you look at the new live version of the fool for example. Still our opinion on the Violation differs greatly, this is one song of fleshgod i can not listen to played by him, just sounds horrible. Songs should be performed like the are played in the studioversion (my opinion), which Francesco did. There was no "making songs less difficult" with him.

I'm sorry but I have to be completely honest here. The sound doesn't do him justice but Daray does not fit in Dimmu, he's playing all the wrong beats for these new songs, everything is half time and terrible back beats.

So, what's your point? Drumming is solid but I don't think we have to discuss Barker, or do we? Same goes with Mustis, Astennu, ICS Vortex, Nagash, Hellhammer.
They lost a good amount of technicality over the years and replaced it with pop music structures and choirs, choirs, choirs AAAAAnd choirs.
Just my opinion. I can play drums, was singer in diverse death and black metal bands and I am a music producer. Just for the people who can't stand opinions on their own.

Council of wolves and snakes is an absolute masterpiece if you ask me, to me music is about the atmosphere or feeling it creates, not nescesarily blasts in 250bpm all the way, even though i love that aswell... what i was pointing out to the other guy is that him not liking the music does not make the band shit. Metal elitists have a tendency to trash ANYTHING that does not sound like it's made in a basement in the 90's. And to me that only screams safespace retard, cause you only hunger for the nostalgic shit you we're listening to in your childhood, incapable of taking in and appreciating new experiences.
