Fingerprints is correct though? This is is how fingerprints work, it's the outer skin structure leaving its pattern on surfaces. Same goes for the rest of the hand.

Chris, may I ask what PC you are currently using for your 3D projects (ex. your video "Colour")?
Colour was the last video to be done on my 2008 PC. I've been using a 64GB 13900k since March (specifically: au.pcpartpicker.com/list/TwKDH2 , except for the PSU, and the 4090 isn't installed yet because I'm waiting for a better PSU to become available).

@@nimm1135 The old one was increasingly hanging, crashing, and threatening to die at any moment, so it's mainly a feeling of relief that things are working properly now. The extra speed/memory etc is nice though of course. 😊

Can I hire you to do the same on a certain finger scanner in a certain pentagon-shaped building?
Is there a way to make dynamic roughness maps? If you move you hands to make a fist your veins on the back of the palm get shiny. Would be really cool if that was possible in blender?
You can do it with tension maps (which I happen to be working on at this very moment).
@@chrisjonestube oh that's cool, maybe it can also be used to drive red muscle textures blend in through the tension map to sort of simulate blood flow.
Now that I've thought about it the bloody muscle textures can also be used for subsurface scattering driven by tension map.

It's a mask for particle emission. Each particle is going to be in 1:1 scale of protein cells. If you are going to zoom close enough you will be able to recognize that protein particles are build out of 21 amino acids ;)
