    This is a great tune recorded by my good friend Billy Kuy,original Outlaws lead guitarist. Very well played Robby and a great sound.

    • @Kanassatego
      @Kanassatego 3 года назад

      I think Bill Kuy was as superb as any famous lead guitarist of the rock instrumental genre (including Hank Marvin, of course.) But what actually happened to Bill after he left the Outlaws so abruptly? I have not been able to find any information at all.

    • @victorfarthing4516

      @@Kanassatego When Bill left the Outlaws he became the lead guitarist with the Innocents touring with the Rolling Stones and backing artists like Jet Harris,Billy Davis,John Leyton,Mike Sarne etc. You can see him on the 1964 NME Wembley poll winners concert backing Jet Harris on RUclips,the band is the Innocents.
      Bill has not long turned 80 but not in the best of health,he hasn't picked hes guitar up for sometime now.
      He certainly was a great guitarist in hes time,up there with the best of guitarists.Robby makes a great cover of this tune off the album Dream Of The West.

      @@victorfarthing4516 I really appreciate your response and will now try to get more info about him. If you are in touch with Bill, maybe you could tell him that, first of all, I wish him the best of health. Also make sure to let him know that I was absolutely enchanted by his solo on the incredible track "Husky Team." I have listened to him play the solo hundreds of time and decided to record my cover of this magical instrumental. (I am not a pro musician and it took me over half a year to learn it enough to do a RUclips cover. If you're interested, I will send you a link.) And all this is happening when I am already 70. Until I first heard the Outlaws play "Husky Team," I had been firmly convinced that "Apache" by the Shadows would forever remain my most favorite rock instrumental of the 1960. But it's not so any more.

      @@Kanassatego Kaz I'd love to hear your cover of Husky Team. Please send me the link. When I next see Bill I will pass your message on. If your on Facebook send Bill a friends request. Hes profile name is William Kuy! Regards Vic.

      @@victorfarthing4516 Dear Vic,
      The idiom is: “you have made my day.” But it is a mediocre understatement. I never thought I might actually have a chance to write to Bill and to express my gratitude for the inspiration he has been for me.
      I’d like to say more, but first I have to take you up on your offer to contact Bill via Facebook.
      Below I attach the link to my cover.
      You need to know a few facts, though. As I said, I am 70. Although I did try to learn a few riffs when I was in college in Poland, I actually never seriously began to play electric guitar until 2014. That year I happened to attend a horse camp in Canada. A Canadian woman challenged me to play a Polish song. She was very good at singing and playing Canadian songs. I was a total disappointment: I couldn’t play anything. So when I went back home (which, by the way, is Albuquerque in New Mexico), I decided that it was the last call for me to return to my unfulfilled passion from my college days. I have always been enchanted by instrumental rock songs. For some very strange, irritating reason, the Outlaws have mostly escaped my attention. Until now. When I heard “Husky Team” last summer, I became fascinated by the way the lead guitarist, Bill Kuy, plays the solo. It is pure magic.
      Anyhow, right after I got back from the Canadian horse camp, I bought an Epiphone guitar, a Fender amplifier and began to self-teach frantically and furiously. I played several hours a day and made an awful number of errors, but I persisted. It took me half a year (since July last year to last Christmas) to learn “Husky Team” enough to try to do a cover. It is far from perfect but one has to be realistic: I know my limits as an old man who just isn’t gifted to become a professional player.
      Anyhow, Vic, here’s the link. And please don’t shoot the guitar player: he is doing the absolute best he can do. (It took me about 15 times to do this cover, and it is still far short of my expectations.)
      My best from the Land of the Apache, the last free Americans,
      Kaz (Maybe we could switch to email?)

    Actually, it was ot by the Shadows - although it iis an easy mistake to make The Outlaws wrote and recorded this. I beieve Don Groom, the drummer, wrote it, but maybe it was Billy Kuy

    • @victorfarthing4516
      @victorfarthing4516 5 лет назад +4

      James this tune was not written by Don Groom or Billy Kuy! Actually written by "Duke" which could of been Joe Meek himself under a another name!! However Joe would have a tune in he's head and hum it out of tune,it was then down to the great playing of Billy Kuy to make something out of it. This was also the case with The Tornados and "Telstar" Lots of things happened in that studio back in the day. Joe Meek was a genius and ahead of he's time.

      suaragitar so just an echo pedal. Then comes to mind what kind of amp are you playing out of? Tube? what brand, because I think its dynamiate. I'm amazed at people who make their own backing tracks. Do you lay down the rhythm guitar part down first and then add drums? the whole process amazes me. you're welcome by the way and thanks for your reply.

    • @suaragitar
      @suaragitar  9 лет назад

      Howard Lieboff Hi Howard, there's no actual amp. I used Vox Tonelab amp simulator which does pretty well in simulating box amps. I normally lay down drum beat first with the help of metronome click, then bass and rhythm parts. I hope this makes sense.
