ML Sound Lab breaks new territory by expanding from guitar solutions with the release of ML Drums - our very own drum sampler. The aim was to create the easiest virtual drum sampler with the versatility to also meet the needs of professional studios. Finally we have drum samples done with the ML Sound Lab secret sauce: capturing the sound perfectly at the source so there's no need to fix it in the mix. Natural sounds with no gimmicks.
ML Drums is a modular drum sampler platform where the initial release comes with a FREE DRUM KIT. You can continue expanding the kit to your liking by purchasing the add-ons you are interested in. Start expanding the kit with ML Drums Essentials. Видеоклипы
Seeing ML grow has made me proud. Providing an all in one solution for the bedroom or home musician to make amazing music with HIGHLY competitive sounds. Next step...mixing plugins. I know that ML aims to make everything mix-ready, but with that addition to their market, I don't see why ML wouldn't the proprietary use for anyone. I'm not surprised that ML Drums is free, I'm glad that Mikko is a humble man, and will wait for feedback before demanding anything, despite the amount of work that goes into recording drum samples to this extent. Well done everyone, I cannot wait to see what ML does next 😁
Thank you so much and I'm glad that it shows. With this ML Drums release + Roots all you need is a guitar and audio interface and you can essentially create an album of pro quality music for absolutely no money spent. This is very important to me on a personal level. Likewise I can't wait to see what we come up with in future. -Mikko
It's finally there!! 🥳 You guys did a great job with this. A perfect addition to the ML Sound Lab product line🙌
That means the world coming from you, thank you so much! ❤️
-Kai
Really didn't expect that one, it does look very interesting and worth trying out!
Thank you so much! Something totally different for us, we really hope you enjoy it!
-Kai
I honestly starting to consider buying because that sounds awesome, specially the snare, I need that sound!
Thank you! That high-tuned snare in the ML Drums Essentials kit is something magical for sure!
-Kai
These sound great, the isn't a needlessly steep learning curve like some drum samplers. I have been so engrossed in replacing the stitched together drum racks I've used in the past with this I still need to watch all these videos!
The fact that with the free version of this and Roots you can easily start making tracks at home with nothing more than a DAW and an interface is truly a gift to humanity.
Probably starting to sound like a proper fanboy commenting on your vids now, bit you just can't beat the quality, humbleness, and all round good vibes...
If only you could make a plugin that'll make me sing good 👀😂
Thank you so much and I'm so glad the effort shows. Making someone sound like good singer is a tough one though... :D
There’s always synthesizer v
That tom-snare hit intro/snare sound in intro gave me instant flashbacks to the drums in “My Own Summer”
Oh man, that is a huge compliment. Thank you!
-Kai
bought it a few days ago and tested different setups. sounds absolutley great. thanks for the affordable price. I'd be still very interesseted to know, what seput/preset was used in this video
Great job!! Really nice sounding presets and it matches (so far) the "drummer track" map in Logic , so that makes it easy!
That's excellent news, I'll have to try that out myself!
-Kai
I put this up against SSD 5 paid ver. Smg extinction. Drumforge Savior. Mixwave Duplantier & Holland. GGD metal, aggressive & architects. EZD3 modern metal. My drummer picked ml drums essentials out of all those based on preset alone with no post processing.. 25 years of playing and we are blown away... Cuz that kit sounds the closest to his actual kit.. phenomenal job..
That is some immense praise there, thank you ever so much for sharing with us. Super glad to hear you're loving it!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab it also means I spent a whole lot of money on other drum VSTis over the years until ml drums came along.. hahaah
So good! I’m just gonna try it.
Thank you!
-Kai
Tried this out yesterday, love the sound.
For e-kit playing though, it’s still going to need some work. I couldn’t get the hi-hat mapped correctly and it needs a velocity curve option for the dynamics to respond realistically.
That said, it’s early days and I’m really excited to see where you guys take this.
Thanks for asking about it - we're looking into expanding our support for E-Kits in the future!
-Kai
Got the free version after an hour I did purchased. Great sounding drums, waiting for the humanize snare and double kik
Thank you! Big update coming soon 🙏
-Kai
This plug-in sounds amazing. Great job! But… I want that kit irl lol
Thank you so much Jason! The kit is a beast for sure.
-Kai
can you guys please make a quick video of HOW TO WRITE DRUM PARTS with this new sim? thank you so much this is a really greta product!
Yes that's an awesome idea!! I think we all have our own process for programming drums and mine is very simple and fast so I'd love to share it.
@@mlsoundlab this would be awesome
I am just blown away by the quality of your product.
Just installed and tried the free version with my e-kit, and I am really loving this plugin
Thank you so much for the feedback, we appreciate it massively. I'll raise your comments with the team!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab Hyped 💜🧡
Let the cymbal choking begin!! 😆🤘
Bought it as these are some of the best sounding drums I've heard with EASY tweakability. Are there any plans for an incorporated drum beats section in the future? I am not a drummer and rely on the software to write beats for me. As of now, I'm stuck using Addictive Drums as they have a large beat library and I can sync them to my DAW/hear right there how it would sound. A feature like that from you guys in future iterations of this would be a godsend. Keep up the great work; love all that you do!
Definitely something we can consider adding in the future. Thanks for asking about it!
-Kai
The kit sounds huge and I love the mixer page! The only thing I think this plugin lacks is a send to a Parallel Compression bus...it would be so useful and it would complete the entire package! Take it into account for a next release 😉
Thanks Davide! Definitely something we'd like to consider for a future version. We appreciate you asking about it!
-Kai
route your outputs separatrley then you can also use parallel compressions for relevant elements
@@ansgarpahl yes, this can be a solution for sure but, since this plugin offers a full fledge set of mixing and tone customization features, I think it's totally fair to have a parallel compression bus in the same way they made the reverb bus.
This is sick AF ✊
Thank you buddy! So glad it's finally out. 😉
Gracias🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏🤜🤛
🔥
Right on this is so cool
We like to think so too! Thank you!
-Kai
In the test Version the Command Change with the Hi-Hat Pedal (Open/Close) doesn't work. Any suggestions? Love the Pop Punk Preset!
Oh wow. I couldn't close my eyes🙂
Thank you so much Russell!
One more question ML Sound Lab if you don’t mind :-)
It appears the cymbals used in the recording of this library are Sabian AX and AAX (stop me if I’m wrong).
What particular drum kit did you use to record this library? (Tama Starclassic, Pearl Masters, DW, Mapex, etc.)
Thanks again guys, picking this up today!
The drum names have abbreviations in their dropdowns that hint at what the sampled drums actually are. 😉
Very cool but I am having trouble mapping MIDI to work with ez drummer 3 grooves. Anybody that can help please?
Hey there are some MIDI presets included that should cover the most obvious drum platforms but obviously not everything can be accounted for. We'll take a look into adding more presets!
Is there a selections of midi grooves that come with it
I was expecting an updated Mikko cab sim 2.0
Me too!! No wait...
I just downloaded the free version, thank you very much. It sounds really good. Is there any way to move the sound library off my system drive and onto my Sound Libraries drive?
Hey there! Unfortunately this isn't supported at this time, but it's something we're looking into for a possible future update.
-Kai
Sounds pretty good! This would have been much better with an integrated Groove Player as seen in EZDrummer 2 tho. It's nice to actually preview grooves instead of endlessly going back and forth. I don't get how Groove Players aren't a staple by now... But, I'd like to see where this goes. Looking forward to updates.
Definitely something we can think about for a future iteration, that's for sure! ML Drums will hopefully be ever-evolving with new features, new additions, and new functionalities.
-Kai
Great quality! What is the supported OS?
Windows 10, Windows 11, and MacOS 10.15 or later are all supported!
-Kai
Are you able to add your own samples to this program and use it as a drum trigger? Or can you only use the included drum kit elements?
Only the included kit for now, but this is something we can think about for future ML Drums updates!
-Kai
Snare 😍😍
Yesss! That snare is what it's all about!
-Kai
Can the individual samples be replaced with our own samples too? Been using SSD5 but this looks way cleaner, but I really need that function :D
Unfortunately this isn't a feature currently supported at launch, but we're going to keep our ear to the ground to see what features people want for future updates! Thank you so much for the feedback!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab Thanks for the response! And too bad, guess I'll keep an eye for it. Other similar thing could be to let user make a custom set from all the sets in sale and then purchase the custom set. The reasoning (for me personally) is that sometimes there is a very nice sounding kit but there is a let's say bass drum sample that doesn't fit with the music style and otherwise the kit would be perfect. Gives it lots of versatility.
It is actually something we've already talked about. No promises but especially for the kick.. potentially for snare layering it'd make a lot of sense. There's a million things we want to do with this platform. ;) -Mikko
Hello! I'm using ML Drums (Free version) in FL Studio
and for some reason stuff like the snare or kick depending on the preset is having this very crackly sound or something like that, and plus the Metalcore preset for instance does not sound anything like the standalone version's Metalcore preset. This plugin sounds great but right now im just having this problem.
Any reason why this is the case for me? I just thought to try commenting here about this seeing if I can get help this way.
Also i'd like to add I already tried reinstalling it a few times and nothing changed.
Edit: Okay I found a way to fix it! I just needed to go to the wrapper settings of the plugin, at the troubleshooting section, turned on Use Fixed Sized buffer" and also the "Use Maximum buffer sized from host" and no longer the sound has any crackling or other noises!
Thank you so much for looking into this one for us - I'll make a note of it and if it comes up again we'll know what to do. Thank you!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab you're welcome!
Thanks much! I was having that problem as well :)
Can I trigger the kit (Samples) with a E-Kit like I can with SD3 or SSD? Thanks
Yes you can!
-Kai
Can I add one shot samples?
So.... What preset was used for this intro?
The Post-Grunge preset! Absolutely now post-processing - just raw as it is. In the run-through video we actually show the midi and everything. 😃
I wish there is at least one parametric eq on each channels.
Thanks for your feedback, we can think about it!
-Kai
How many devices can be installed ?
We offer multiple unlocks - send us an email at support@ml-sound-lab.com and we'll take care of it 💪
-Kai
WOW!!!! Mikko and Kai, can this be used on our e-Drum kits at home (Roland kits for example) like GGD and MixWave software allows? This is how I record drums on all my recordings, so I had to ask. This is so awesome that you guys made this!
Yes it can! You'll need to create the MIDI map yourself, but it's easy enough - hit the record button next to the kit piece, then hit the piece on your kit. Do this for all hits, and save your map. Should be good to go from there!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab YES!!!! I’m buying this today right after work. Thank you guys!!!
Please make this works in High Sierra.
i'm still using hi-sierra. is this compatible?
Afraid not, sorry - you need MacOS 10.15 or later to run ML Drums.
-Kai
Please tel me this software can use my mobile??
Unfortunately not - desktop and laptops only at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.
-Kai
Site doesn't say, does this work with M1 Silicon Macs?
Yes! M1 Native! Sorry we didn't make that more clear on our site.
-Kai
can i play it usiong only keyboard?
ML Drums is triggered via MIDI notes; these are commonly sent through programming in drum beats, using MIDI controllers, or through the use of E-Kits. Hope that clears some things up for you!
-Kai
Does it come with TCI files? Sounds amazing, can't wait to get home and try this out
No TCI files I'm afraid, thanks for asking though!
-Kai
can I drag and drop my samples onto those? that would be dope!
Unfortunately this isn't supported right now, but we've been asked about it a couple times so we can certainly look into it!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab cool mate! will wait
On the video it sounds like the snare has just one velocity level
Check the drum preset video - there's a lot more dynamic playing in those samples. In here the snare is being played as loud as possible all the time.
@@mlsoundlab Cool, thanks!
Reminds me a little Steven slate drums, but interesting 🤔
If you also make fat drums and natural sounds will be a hit...as many Virtual drums Plugins are so artificial....this sounds promising
Thank you so much!
-Kai
Not supported on protools and high Sierra :(
Unfortunately not, sorry - it is compatible with ProTools on MacOS, but you'll need MacOS 10.15 or later to run ML Drums. Sorry for the inconvenience.
-Kai
Is it an app or an actual drumset? Im confused.
ML Drums works as both a standalone application and as a plugin for DAWs - it's all software-based.
-Kai
WOW !!!
Oh yes!! 🔥
-Kai
Indeed my buddy!
Says site not secure on my mac, says certificate not up to date? wierd can get on your site on iphone but not laptop?
Hmm that is strange - never heard of anything like this before. Does it still happen?
@@mlsoundlab I’m doing some testing today will hopefully get sorted will let you know
Found the problem I run Mac os sierra 10.12, the program only runs from 10.15, any plans on a patch for previous versions of mac os?
That snare really needs a humaniser option. Other than that, sounds amazing.
Thank you so much! We've actually talked about a humanizer control with the team. Right now you can get away with 127 velocities all around but definitely adding more dynamics to snare rolls or fast parts makes everything more realistic.
Multi-out for DAW?
Yes! Multi-Output is supported in most DAWs, and should be pretty simple. What DAW are you using? I'll see if I can guide you through it!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab Oh I think I figured it out. It's automatically set up for multi out so you just have to "build multi channels" in your DAW. That was very easy. Nice.
Does it support Windows 7?
Not too sure actually, I believe Windows 10 may be the lower limit, but you can always install the free version and see for yourself how it's performing!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab Just tried and at least the standalone version works!
It is really free?
Yes!
-Kai
Hmmm... It doesnt work in High Sierra. I guess Ill have to get used to that, but still, bummer.
Sorry about that, you'll need MacOS 10.15 or later to run ML Drums. Thanks for trying it out regardless though!
-Kai
@@mlsoundlab Thanks, its a sign of the times. My problem, not yours!
@@mlsoundlab Out of curiosity, whats the minimum specs to run on a PC?
Wow))) haha
I clicked the link and got a 404 error.
Whoops, sorry about that! Fixed it!
-Kai
Que????????????? What's????????????
Sounds thick
Oh yes, as thick and beefy as you need it!
-Kai
worse sound!!!
