I'm nearing 40 and this is still my favourite piece of music. The way it builds up from a light pattering of raindrops on a tin roof into a wave and then just starts rolling into itself at 4:08 is beautiful. Fits the water/tide theme of FFX perfectly. I'm not sure that any other instrument could do this piece justice.
I feel like this song embodies life. There are pauses, transcendence, sorrow, hope, death, leaving the body at the end and soul returning. I feel so much when I hear this song
