  • If you are having trouble with your spool head not moving or advancing string, it's probably because there is grass wrapped around the shaft that won't allow it to depress. Or if you just want to clean your weed eater, this is super easy, just need a screwdriver.

    This is clearly a design flaw and let us hope it gets redesigned. I have been removing any jams but now I will go a little deeper. Thanks we will not be burning out our motors.

      Yeah, I suppose it might be difficult to keep debris from inbetween a stationary surface and a rotating one, but a tighter clearance would help.

    i had problems with the string advancing from the beginning with my 20 volt 920 model . it was even worse after i replaced the stock dewalt string with husquvarna line . bought a husquvarna T35 head to replace the stock dewalt head (direct fit , no adapter needed) and everything is beautiful now .

      Thanks for the tip. I think a lot of stringer heads are interchangeable, but it's nice to know specific models that fit together.

    I have a 20 volt 13" trimmer. You solved my problem. On mine a spindle comes out of the final guard. I had open up the transmission and still could not figure it out.. Put it back together and used the torx screw driver in the slot the you pointed out and a slot on the housing. l then put a crescent wrench on shaft. Bingo-fixed. Thank you for posting this video.

    Is that one of those line up the eye re stringer or do you have to take off the head and re string it?. I would also like to know is this how you would put on a new spool that you don't to take off the head to re string. .. thanks and thanks for the video.

      Yeah, 1:55 in the video briefly covers that. Line up the arrows and put the string through and then begin winding. About 12' of string is right.

    the 'key' hole I had found, I just needed to know clock wise after that. Thank you for confirming which way to remove the trimmer head!

      Yeah, I go through a 12ah, two 9ah and four 6ah batteries to weed eat my 1 acre yard. Gas is still the OPE king in most scenarios.

    Thanks. It took 20 seconds to fix but 2 months to look it up on RUclips 😂

      Yeah, I have projects like that. I think, "Why didn't I just do it sooner?" It's PTSD from other projects that should have taken 20 seconds but took a week, lol.

    You're on the wrong end of the trimmer. Check the battery wire connectors on the other end, I found the white one came apart.

    Wow, thanks so much. The user manual has useless info such as how to charge the battery...but nothing on maintenance.

      Yes it's unfortunate. Also, should mention that you need to keep the air inlets on the weed eater cleaned out because it can overheat and burn out the motor.

      Yes - their instruction sheet is useless, filled with ridiculous info - in about 6 languages, yet! And could you please use a LARGER piece of paper for those notes?? Both my husband and I thought we had gone full stupid because we could’t understand the overly involved, minusculy printed instruction sheet for rewinding the cord and removing the head. Husqvarna T35 to the rescue!!💕

    does it have a plastic cap over the top part of it? the black plastic housing?

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction  3 года назад

      You depress the tabs to pop the face of the cap off. But to remove the head you don't need to do that.

    Any chance this could come off if u over tightened it?

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction  2 года назад

      If you tightened it so much that you stripped the nut then yes, I suppose it would, but if you mean under tightening, then I believe the rotation of the weed eater tightens the head as it spins.
