Anyone hesitating getting a dog....because they dont live as long as we do. Let me tell you. Dogs are like fireworks. A intense bright light destined to only shine for a brief moment. But that moment is filled with joy, happyness and love. I dont know about you. But I think choosing to never see fireworks because the light does not last forever...is the wrong way to think. Yes you have to endure the dark when the show is over. But id rather have experienced that light in my life than never have seen it at all.

But there's many rewards of having pets in general; one should be under no illusion, however, that they will last forever.

Lorenzo... Me too... I have 4 dogs and I get all teary eyed when I think about losing any of them.
My Lulu is 19! She is blind and deaf ...but not in pain. She is Sundowning now so I know it won't be too much longer.
The minute I sense any pain in her, I will put her down. She is one of my heartbeats.
@@TrudyPatootie We had a mixed breed dog. In her later years she developed diabetes, lost her eyesight and also had a surreneal tumour. I had to give her indukin shots every day.
When she got very much worse I was the only one in our family that decided it more kind and loving to put her down at the vets. The rest of the family was devastated because the dog became part of our family.
Thank heavens our dog died the day before I was due to take her to the vet.
One has to live with a dog to know what a special bond it can become. We now have a mini pinscher that belonged to my sister that passed away in 2017. My sister named her Layla. Layla is a handful but we all love her.

I never heard such a primal wail ...that came out of me as my husband took her to the Vet's to put her down. ( I couldn't)
The day before the specialist informed us that she couldn't urinate on her own because of paralysis. I said that I would manually express her, but when I tried she bit me in pain.
That was it... But I know that you know how difficult putting our dog down is, but their pain overrides any feelings of wanting them to stay with us.

When I was born, my father had a dog. She was already 10 years old and had puppy's once (my father castrated her after that) and she was really sad she couldn't get pregnant any more, so she sort of adopted me and became really protective. She would bark and growl at every person/dog who looked at me in a way she didn't like and I loved her more than anything. She died when I was 6, I'm 18 now and I'm crying writing this. (But good news I got a puppy for my 18th birthday (2 month ago) and I'm going to get her and cuddle with her until I'm not sad anymore)

I had a english bulldog named Snoop. One of the best dogs I have ever had. They don't live long, so enjoy every minute you have with them. Snoop passed after 8 years and that was the saddest day in my life. My only regret about this breed is their short lifespan.
We got a great dog like this when my kids were younger, and she just passed at 15 years and three months. We will forever miss her love and companionship

I didn’t get the impression she was substituting for another word (I’m guessing you thought she was trying to avoid calling him fat). It was appropriate. Bulldogs are solid muscle, and muscle sinks. Because he has short legs he can’t swim very well.

Guys I just read so many comments about dog's age. I know dogs are so emotionally connected to their owners. If ur dog died. I will suggest u to get another dog. I'm not saying to replace ur late dog. I'm just saying that getting another dog will improve two lives. Many dogs will get the love they deserve and u too will get the love from ur doggo
Now THIS is a good doggo being a part of the family. Not knocking the babes over or licking them all in the face or waking them up. This is exactly what you could hope for with pets becoming a true part of the family. I love it.

I have the biggest love for animals, but when I was little we had a dog Mitzi and I witnessed her getting run over.....till this day (I'm close to 50) I still tear up. That's why I've never had one ever again. I cannot fathom losing one. They truly are your family. They don't say it, but their love for us as their pet owners is an unconditional love. One that you can't even compare to that of a human sometimes. I'm so sorry for your loss. 😩

I'm not a fan of Bulldogs, but this video changed my mind about them. Their underbite is cute and I never knew how protective they are around children. What really amused me the most is that this dog loved to swim and favored the fireplace. I would love to see more videos of this particular bulldog.
We have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and he LOVES these kids, loves to play with them and he protects them like no other. People give me dirty looks about my "Pit Bull," and while he does fall under that general umbrella, he's the sweetest, biggest baby of a dog I've ever seen, but he's very protective of his little human buddies.

ToL Famagz The only health problems he’s had that cost us money were ones he brought in himself, swallowing LEGO and getting them stuck in his intestines... other than that he’s a very healthy guy!

I had a boxer who did exactly the same. She was my first baby. When my 2 daughters were born she became very gentle and protective. Even woke me up when my first born was having an allergic reaction to a vaccine. Probably saved her life. She passed away 2 1/2 years ago when she was 11 and the pain is still unbearable. Our new puppy has big shoes to fill. But I’m sure that with time and patience she’ll become the perfect dog too.

I just can't understand how some people can hear a story like yours and still wonder why anyone would love their pet so much. I've never met a Boxer I didn't like..such sweet, loyal dogs.
That's also how I treat my imaginary dog. Our connection is so strong, he even comes in my dreams. I love him so much. No matter where I go he's always there for me.😊❤ Just love him. Dogs are the best.

I’ve watched several of my kids take their last breaths over the yrs, it’s never easy but I have so many great memory’s of ea. one that they will never be forgotten.
I wonder how cool it would be growing with a dog, almost like a brother or a best buddy.
