Hi, thanks for this. How much work is currently out there for class 2 drivers and in your opinion is it worth getting a class 1 straight away? How competitive is it to find work, and do you see that changing post Covid19? All the best.
Hi there, I'd imagine finding work would be very tough at the moment - thankfully haulage will always be required for as long as people still want their food in their supermarkets and computers in their stores, which is good for us. I think you should stick with class 2 if you are new to the industry just to make sure you enjoy the work before investing further money. A recession is on the way, that's for sure, and with that we will likely see a drop in driver recruitment.

Hi just got a few questions. Anyone is more than welcome to send me their experiences as well. My question is how easy did you find getting work at 18 and do you know what company's will hire young drivers? I'm 19 years old and gained my class 2 licence at 18yrs old in October and passed my CPC just after turning 19. I'm struggling to find work and no one is willing to insure me due to my young age and this is starting to really wind me up. I've applied for 10 different jobs all over the county I live in some never even got back in touch. This one company I went to for a job interview never even told me how much it would be to insure after saying I got the job and never went any further. I later found out by a friend who after talking to them and they said it would cost them 12k to insure me!! If anyone has any suggestions or advice please like this comment and send over your thoughts. Stay safe all you truckers out there. Your work is not under appreciated. PS I can't even get work for a driving agency either due to there insurance policy not taking anyone under 21

Hi there, if you arent fit and strong now, you will be after a month or two in a job with heavy cages or lifting! If you do have to unload pallets you'll use a pump truck so it makes it quite easy. All the best :)

I am an indian with Indian car driving licence and experience. I want to get into hgv driving job and need one too. How can I get a hgv driver job ?
Good job
Do you have to do your Cpc case studies before your test or can you do it after
As far as I am aware you can get the license but will be unable to drive commercially (be paid) until you have completed your CPC stuff
Hello mate, just wanna ask about the insurace as a new driver?how much do u usually pay when u pass class 2 driver? Tnxxx
The company pays, not the employee if you work for a company
@@YoungTruckerUK cheers

Any chance for a foreigner?
Thank you.
Hi really wanting to become a lorry driver this video is great just woundering what the hours are like and the pay to start off thank you
Who did you use for training please
Jcoates services
Did you have to overcome requirements for experience by employers after getting qualified?
In some, but not others
@@YoungTruckerUK Can I ask how many daily/weekly hours do you do? Do your shift patterns change or are fixed?
Fixed shift patters starting in the morning. 10-12 hours a day
Hello mate I just passed my car licence three month ago do I can apply for class 2 or I need to wait for it
Hey, you can apply for your provisional and the DVLA will get that sorted for you. Not sure how soon though due to the pandemic

Thank for reply I just would like know it’s really doesn’t matter if someone has a new pass car license or old one why I m asking u cuze i just passed my car license I watched video on RUclips and he said in his video car license has to be old minimum two year old I’m bit canfused if u can clear this plz
Do they do the driving test in a sim?
No it is on road
Very hard to impossible to find work as a new passer. Im speaking from experience too.
@@YoungTruckerUKif I get a class 2 license at 18 how long would it take roughly for me to find work
@@maanimoo I can't tell you for certain, it depends on many things. Best thing to do is just go out there and do it

hi, how much did it all cost you as a company called easyashgv are charging 1800 for class 2 (including cpc etc) is that a good deal?
3 years ago I paid £1500 for class 2
@@YoungTruckerUK easyashgv are a broker, should i go with a local training company directly instead? is that what u done as what ive read people say these companies just rip u off, thanks so much i love ur videos btw they are extremely honest unlike some people out there.
Thanks for the nice comments mate. Yesh I went direct for the same reason as you've heard. £1800 seems okay but you may be able to find it cheaper locally
@@YoungTruckerUK yeah thanks alot for the help, ur videos are like an inspiration as i was worried about if i done it all got my class 2 that i wouldnt get a job due to my younh age, but ur videos have shown it is possible, however i still know that doesnt mean its gonna be easy.

Hi. Great video. Im hoping to start when the lockdown winds down a little more. Is there any particular company to look out for? Good and bad?
Hello, thankyou :) I've only ever worked for one haulage firm so I'm not sure on who you should go for/avoid
PS I can't even get work for a driving agency either due to there insurance policy not taking anyone under 21
Hi mate. I was quite lucky getting work so young; but I do live in an area that has a ton of haulage firms nearby. Have you tried the supermarkets? Or suppliers of the supermarkets? What area do you live in?
@@YoungTruckerUK I live in Norfolk. I've tried applying for the company Foulgers and a few tipper jobs but no luck. I've not applied for supermarkets which I probably should have done haha.
@@bobbeats That's what I thought. Maybe I'm in a place where this type work is not really sort after I don't know. Yes it's the same old catch 22 whatever happens. How can I get experience if no one will hire me??
@@jimshepherd3721 interesting you say that, I live on the border of Norfolk, looking to gain my class 1&2 but covid got in the way, I'm 27 so I wonder if it would be more difficult for me to find work.

Hi m8 would you recommend me pursuing this job as a career, As iv recently lost my job working as a tesco home dilivery driver due to the pandemic & now face being homeless, Am 29 single male about £900 left in my savings account...
Go for it :)

@@miz528aaaaaaa I've been working at my current company for 3 years so I cant comment on what the current jobs market is looking like but I have seen a few jobs appearing. @@YoungTruckerUK Ah right cheers m8 iv just found a new job recently anyways starting next week, Il probably go for the class 2 later on down the line once iiv saved enough, Driving a HGV was always something I wanted to do thx for the informative me video 👍
Hi mate I want to become a hgv driver but I’m worried about the job which involves heavy lifting/pushing as some loads can be hard for a not physically strong type like myself.
Can you give me an advice on jobs with heavy loads. And what sort of jobs that would best suit me. TIA
Hi there, if you arent fit and strong now, you will be after a month or two in a job with heavy cages or lifting! If you are concerned though, I'd recommend pallet work or maybe tipper work as you wont have to unload yourself mostly. If you do have to unload pallets you'll use a pump truck so it makes it quite easy. All the best :)
Thanks mate
Taking nothing away buddy, but all that money to get a 10 to 14 quid an hour job.... I'll stick to sales 35k basic, car, credit card, plus commission. Good luck to you and have a good life.
Thanks for watxbijg anyway mate. All the best
@@YoungTruckerUK I owe you an apology, I wasn't trying to imply that sales is better than trucking, all you truckers keep this country going and every single one of you has my respect... I just think the HGV training, cost, dedication and responsibility deserves a much bigger salary, if all the truckers went on strike the country would grind to a halt.
@@garydavies601 I understand man not to worry. I'm training to be a pilot and the initial investment in HGV driving compared to that of training to be a pilot is miniscule!
not sure but 10 to 14 quid isn't that bad.

How'd you persuade DVLA to give you that then? 😉
YoungTrucker UK ohh I didn’t persuade them, the army did.
Nice one, did you drive a HGV before you'd driven a car?
YoungTrucker UK pretty sure that’s impossible, army gave me all of my licenses

Steer clear of this "profession' unless your happy to earn £9ph for the rest of your life driving class 1 for 13-15hrs everyday, pay £400-£500 every 5yrs out of your own pocket for cpc training, not to mention fines and it's the only job which you will serve prison time should you break the rules ranging from tacho infringements to dangerous driving, and every accident you're involved in, whether it's your fault or not, the DSA will investigate you and treat you as if you're at fault 100%.
Quite happy earning my £38k base rate (10 hours a day) and CPC training paid for me and only done during normal work shifts tbh. Shame you've had a bad run
