Ok I really like this narration style, rather than being a strict serious script it feels like having a friend casually explain the game for you and it's a cozy and comfortable experience. Bringing up the konami announcement subject added more to that feeling. Comfy and really interesting ☺️
I just can't unhear the Burger King Foot Lettuce meme. Every time I hear an American with this accent it hovers in the back of my mind. "Number fifteen, Heather quickturn cancel..."
The narration didn’t feel noticeably different to any of his other videos for me. I personally think Ricky does an amazing job at scripting and narration, kudos Ricky!
I would watch so many more random Speedruns of games I've never played if they were narrated like this. Knowing what is going on and all the techniques being used just kept this interesting and addictive throughout.
Imagine a horror game story with a speedrunning protagonist. The monsters are popping out of every corner doing their level best to scare the protagonist, who is beelining right past them without sparing them a glance, let alone shooting at them, to the hidden hallway the protagonist should have no way of knowing exists, before stopping and intentionally dislocating their ankle to turn 270 degrees in 1/30 of a second to enter the hallway with no decrease in walk speed and no signs of pain despite their feet now facing two different directions. Later, the protagonist is trapped in a locked room with monsters slowly approaching and a creepy monologue in the background when suddenly there's a rapid clicking. The monsters look to the protagonist whose hand is a twitching, inhuman blur as they turn the knob to the locked door 60 times a second, waiting for the first frame after the monologue to open it. Then they notice both hands are on the shotgun the protagonist is holding. Halfway through it starts getting really freaky when the protagonist walks into a room, turning to face one particular corner and continuously walking into it while hopping in place for 37 seconds, then suddenly twisting into a pretzel *still* with no apparent signs of pain and passing into the wall while the monsters stare on, horrified. Also: 42:27 If you're reading this Mr. ThaRixer, it's pronounced 'tair-oh' cards.
I'm in bed with a high fever listening to an explanation of a Speedrun of a game from a series I've never batted an eye at. And little by little I feel my self getting better. Your videos are truly incredible 🙏
I have to say, as someone who isn’t really in the speedrunning community, your channel is probably my favorite on RUclips right now. These videos are so well done and I’ve watched each like 6 times now. Hope you are doing well and I can’t wait to see future content! Also it’s criminal you don’t have more subscribers!
I can't thank you enough for the detail you go into on these vids, it really does help people who are completely new to the runs. Worked wonders on the sh2 vid and now this one is just as good if not better.
Oh shit, I discovered your channel really recently, and watched your other silent hill speedrun videos a couple of weeks ago, so it's very cool I managed to catch this one as it was uploaded!
An awesome video for an awesome game!! I watched a lot of content on RUclips (speedrun, video games, mangas, workout, beers crafting, weapons crafting, true crime, etc...) but you Ricky is easily one of my favorite RUclips content creator, keep up the good work and thank you, greetings from Belgium.
Your narration really helps me appreciate the runs you make videos on. Watching just the footage I don’t know what I’m watching just that it’s a world record for reasons. Thanks for the vids! 😊
Honestly, I'm intrigued by silent hill f. The final shot of the trailer is really chilling and unexpected. I honestly thought they were just gonna play a jumpscare
i'm really excited for shf, mostly because of who's writing it. ryukishi07 might not be a name most silent hill fans recognize (particularly in the west, even if most his visual novels and their manga/anime adaptations have been translated into english over the years), but i've been a fan of his work for well over a decade now. imo he's a great fit for writing that silent hill type of horror that combines psychological and supernatural elements
I usually only watch shorts or 2 min videos , but the way you explain , and narrate just makes me get hooked into watching a full 1h , appreciate the effort put ❤ thank you .
WE NEED MORE RICKMAN. As long as you can do them and still live a healthy life of your own choice and have fun creating this content. I’ve binged most of your videos in a week and subscribed after the first time, these are seriously great!
I love these Halloween SH speedruns. It's always interesting just how many tiny factors would go completely unnoticed by casual players. I hope you (and I) find time to play through SH4 and a good WR appears before next Halloween, but if it doesn't, I suppose the logical shuffle would be to Resident Evil, which I assume is fairly similar to speedrun besides inventory juggling replacing most puzzle work. Either way, I'll be sure to keep watching!
@@jaymxu I work night time, it's still 31st in Scotland here. I sleep during the day most of the time, now for some chinese food to end the actual day itself.
I don't mind if next year's special doesn't cover a SH speedrun. Your narration style when covering these specials make it an even better watch (or listen to) whenever I need something playing in the background. The details your writing gives makes it easy to follow the run and easy to understand. I just hope that you'll keep on making videos for as long as you find 'em fun to make.
Was waiting for this! Just found your channel and watched the SH 1 and 2 videos and I wondered if you had given up or you were still going to make the SH 3 video! Glad to see you are still around!
lol dude i hate the hair dryer pickup. "And you got this long corridor right before it, just so you can overthink how you're gonna screw it up" - hits hard man. True and real. Loved the vid (:
I love this annual tradition of yours. Makes my already favourite day of the year that much better. Also, thank you for having subtitles, especially on a video of this length.
For someone like me who is totally out of touch with the speedrun scene, I love your videos, they are fun, interesting and well explained for a neophyte! Thanks for your content :)
i have you on notifs and for some reason youtube hasn't given me them!! i checked on a whim today and saw i missed like 3 videos ): been catching up, and love it as usual. hope we get to see you post again soon, youre an immediate click when you pop up in my recommended!
Just got your Silent hill 2 video recommended and watched it. When i heard that you were planning to release a SH3 video this year i wondered if you released it already and would you look at that, there it is, uploaded only 3 hours ago. Great video btw!
I could never play these games myself. THey'd freak me out too much. Watching Speedruns of them is actually more palatable to me, especially in this style. So thanks Rixer.
Oh this is so rad, I finally went back and finished this game fully like 4 days ago, ready to go check out the speedrunning scene behind it, and you manifest this? Very exciting, Happy Halloween!
I love this series...can we call it series...it technicaly has three episodes now :D Anyway, I cannot believe it is a year ago already when I watched the last Sillent Hill World Record video. More than a year of watching your videos then, yet it feels like yesterday when I stumbled upon your channel.
If there isn't a good Silent Hill 4 run to showcase by next Halloween, there are a few good speedruns for the game X-Files: Resist or Serve. It's a tie-in to the show with a similar setup to Silent Hill or Resident Evil, and I think it might be a good fit for this series. You could go for either the Scully or Mulder run by hansolo12.
I really have enjoyed these Silent Hill videos every year, shedding light on a series I haven't gotten to play yet. This is just an idea, but if you can't do a video on Silent Hill 4 next year, I think it would be really cool to see a video on a Resident Evil game.
Never played this game but appreciate you and your channel. Was brought to your channel by your God of War video. Keep going! Love from Cape Town, South Africa
I've always wanted to do an Origins fists only speedrun but never had the patience to learn it inside and out like this dude has done for sh3, props, was really interesting to watch!
I think each time you try to open the map you save a few frames from the text coming up pausing the in game timer but I don't think anyone's truly confirmed it
I've recently finished the game for the first time and already started an extra new game, what I failed to notice not only the first but the second playthrough, is that you can place the books on the shelf at the first puzzle. So Heather ran through hell and back all while carrying several Shakespear volumes, probably on one of her vest pockets.
ok so i just discovered your channel and please please please i implore you to cover halo speedruns/ speedrunners, the history there i CRAZY man and i really wanna see you cover this type of stuff, i recently got into the speedrunning community in halo, and im genuinely considering becoming one such speedrunner

Regular gameplay: A nightmarish psychological horror.
Speed Runner gameplay: A brisk jog through Detroit.
