Gus, I used to be impressed that you carry 4 lights when cave diving. This clip changes my opinion. The Baywatch crew carried no lights at all, and lit up the cave just by arriving in it with their flawless technique. I don’t think even Edd Sorenson can do that.

Ah, I see your confusion. See, when you're a REAL cave diver with such a PERFECT technique, you tend to go through air pretty quickly. But hey, it's understandable that you didn't know that since they are just so much more skilled than you guys.
Thanks for taking us through that intro multiple times too, it was so loaded and packed full of information that I just don't think it is possible to understand everything with just the single run through.

I experienced a recent 6.8 earthquake in Kona, Hawaii! It vibrated deep in my body to my core, even when I was 50ft in the mid-water column. It was also boomingly loud, for about 30 seconds - I had to block my ears with my hands. Super unsettling, I thought a cruise ship was going over us or something! Such a cool, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Hahaha as soon as I saw the thumbnail I knew I was going to be laughing this morning! Y’all are hilarious lmao LOOK AT THE KELP!

Glad your doing good woody. About 2 years ago I left a salty comment cause I was in a bad mood but that was on me. Not that it matters, but I'm still here and still watching from alabama. Never stopped. Haven't had an opportunity to see the crystal caves at Birmingham IMAX yet despite living only about 45 minutes from there down i20. (Pell City) but maybe one day. Keep on keeping on fellas. Y'all got one of the best channels on youtube in my sincere opinion.and once again I apologise for my salty comment a couple years ago. You won't remember it, nor should you, I just haven't had a chance to apologise until until now because despite being subscribed, I don't catch you videos early enough for you to see my comment. I learned everything I know about cave diving from Baywatch, which is why I always dive with three shovels and a bag of pneumatic tools.
Any second spent on commenting this is a lost second. Except the intro, of course 😂

For a more serious comment; learning about the actual conditions encountered underwater during an earthquake seems like a point of interest. That last clip looked fairly intense and almost like there was a serious shockwave coming around the divers.
I watched the classic Abyss the other day and I was wondering what you guys would say about some the dives in that movie if you are looking for suggestions.
-diving at extreme depths
-diving using that water you can technically breath (the rat in the movie is real and does breath the fluid)
-you have 1 diving suit and 2 people, so one has to drown at the other has to drag them
etc
Well, none of them have any experience of deep diving, I. E. diving at depths exceeding 90 meters, nor saturation diving.
At the gym I got to they have baywatch playing 24/7 and i literally can’t stop laughing with how ridiculous everything is

I remember getting such a fixation on whole 5 secs the MH-65 spotlight, that's like 98% of what i remember of baywatch.
I got away from the channel for a while and went down some other rabbit holes. I come back and Gus looks like a different person! You look great, dude! I mean, it sucks that you probably had to buy new wetsuits, but small price to pay to get through those tighter restrictions and lower your air consumption rate. Well done, brother!
As a novice diver, I probably would've been scared shitless with that second earthquake video. I haven't learned how to drift dive yet and they looked like they were drifting all over the place.

What I learned from the Bayeatch video is when you’re low on air, don’t stop and take a damn picture. Priorities People!!

This is why I no longer dive. These outlaw Navy SEALS are running wild and setting off underwater explosives everywhere in the Pacific. It's as common as crime in a NYC subway. It's the lack of respect that hurts the most....and the explosive...but the lack of respect is the main thing.

FWIW, being in the water during an earthquake is one of the safest places to be, unless you are indeed in a cave because there is a chance at a collapse of some kind. But the water being sloshed around and you possibly bumping into corral or rocks is the worst that can happen.

As a non-scuba diver, are occurances like these common? I'm afraid someone will blow up dynamite under water while I'm cave diving.
At most dive sites, there are one or two dynamite sabotages per day

As to the serious part, I would imagine you're better of there below then you would be at the surface if only because people who are there down below are there on purpose and won't have a sudden change in environment they find themselves in... just a bit of 'turbulence'.
While if you're on the surface, and you happen to be near a coast line where the water usually breaks, it might get a lot more 'turbulent' then at the bottom?
I mean, if you're in open water on the surface you would likely not notice anything right? But if you're at a location where waves are breaking already and then you add in the additional water being displaced, that would be a place I rather not be.
Am I wrong?

Hi, this is a stretch, but regarding cave diving in fiction: If you ever want to read an Australian crime novel (or listen to the audio, the audio is good). Broken Bay by Margaret Hickey starts with a cave diving episode in a sinkhole and cave diving is central to the plot. I keep wondering what Gus and Woody would say, because a lot of it makes NO sense to me....
where was the rest of the episode 😭 you left us hanging lol you should react to it! 😃

I have to disagree with the supposed perfection in their technique. The first thing I noticed is how much they use their hands for both propulsion and steering.
You can learn, that you have to do your SSI underwaterdemolution specialty before handling explosives.

4:20 my question is, if they are in a cave and they cant get out of this small gap.. how come there is a light source above them? if you look at the top of the rock wall its very light and with plant growth... id suggest they are probably only 2-3 foot below the surface and they could escape easily
