Makes me realise just how young she was and imagine the pain her and Debra’s family felt. They were both just babies. In 1993, I attended a workshop, as part of my pursuit of a criminal justice degree, that was conducted by Robert Ressler, a former FBI profiler, and the man who coined the term "serial killer." One of the cases we discussed was this one. Following the workshop, I did a deep dive (pre-internet) into this case. I mention this only to compliment your research into this case, Scott. Thank you for bringing me a bit of closure, as I had not seen their final resting places prior to this vlog. In all actuality, it's not a case, it's a story of innocence lost. Two precious lives,snuffed out by a piece of garbage. Thank you, Scott, for honoring these two young souls. Rest in peace, Shari and little Debra, and prayer of comfort to their families.

This video was so thoughtfully done, thank you. I lived about 10 minutes away from where Shari was abducted, it was a very scary time for the whole community. I live about 45 minutes away today, but still think about this tragedy often. Another horror story was Pee Wee Gaskins, you would do a good job with that one.

I can't imagine the fear these girls had and how these families suffered because of this deranged awful person. Studied this case in forensics. I remember thinking of the fear that Shari must have been going thru in her mind. Writing your own last will and testament, knowing you're about to be murdered. Torturing her, her sister and her parents, giving them false hope. When this happened, I actually broke down. She was my age. Had her whole life ahead of her until that sick pervert took her. i heard about this one in those years and it broke my heart and yea he is a skum-bag big time and glad he is no longer here to hurt any more women very sad for the very young one thinking her last mins alive crying for her family breaks my heart so much but both can now RIP and there is no way he would meet them in heaven he went the other way and deserves it
This story stood out for me too. Season 7 Episode 42, Forensic Files. The episode does not go into detail about the younger victim, with the exception of explaining Bell’s serial killer behavior. I do remember how he was caught through writing indentation, aka latent handwriting. The detectives who catch their perpetrators are those who see their victims as their own children or family members. I was/am greatly impressed by the detectives on Shari’s case and her parents were incredibly courageous throughout the ordeal! As a mother, I try not to imagine the horror of losing a child, but in a way, letting my mind go there allows me to be more compassionate towards other parents who have had their worst fears actualized by acts of senseless violence. God bless the detectives for being the moral compass for the community and bringing the girls’ killer to justice. God bless the families. RIP.

This was a terrible time for South Carolina. I lived thru it back then. The fear was horrible knowing a killer was out there until he was caught, and what he did to the Smith family was horrible taunting them with several phone calls. Hard to believe it was almost 40 yrs ago. Rip to their beautiful souls.

It’s devastating to lose a child at any age and even more so this way-being kidnapped and tortured before being murdered by this monster, doing perfectly normal things - coming home from the mall and playing outside. Their parents and siblings would be left agonising over every single thing they could’ve done or said differently that fateful day for the rest of their lives-but the terrible truth is, it has happened and there’s no way to bring them back. They can only do their best to find peace by looking beyond the circumstances of their passing to celebrate their life, the light, love and joy they brought with them.

What a sick individual, he didn’t even deserved to be called a person. He was evil. I was actually thinking the same thing before you said it, that he was like BTK Dennis Raider. The victims didn’t get no mercy so I hope this sick man didn’t either when he died. May Sherri & Deborah RIP & condolences to their families; these ladies were way too young. Thank you always for your videos & sharing this story for your right the victims deserve way more recognition than their killers. More people should think like you sweet Scott.
