Oh Whitney Chaka couldn't have pick a better person to remake this masterpiece than Whitney "The voice" Houston!!!
This was a Whitney song that got you up out of your seat. She looked radiant, was on top of her game, and commanded the diva stature with the Bodyguard soundtrack. There was only one Whitney and never will there be another like her. She literally sounded like nobody else and was so powerful even singing such a lighthearted, uplifting jam. You crack me up with the wobbly heels skit slid in there. I never look left or right as to what others are doing. You're doing you and you have over a thousand loving every bit of it. When you think about it, really think about it it's a lot. Play away.....I'm here for the fun.

One of my favorites. It features an all-star ensemble. The legendary singer/songwriter Valerie Simpson, who wrote this song. Chaka Khan who first recorded it singing back-up, the powerful vocalist Martha Wash also singing back-up vocals, Whitney's mom Cece, and the best-selling American Girl Group TLC. Whitney was also pregnant with her daughter Bobbie Christina in this video.

@@jobuck879 I said the best-selling American Girl Group. And Cissy or Cece it doesn't matter. Destiny's Child & Spice Girls didn't even exist at that time. If you wanna come for me make sure you know your facts. Thank you. When this video was shot, no one knew what to expect because of Whitney's condition. So every scene was shot separately. We coordinated the set and made sure each one the ensemble guests were able to make it to shoot their scenes.
This song is on the entire opposite of my listen-to-regularly spectrum but it's undeniable, and Whitney Houston absolutely meets or exceeds the singing/vocal powerhousing standards of any artist in the game today, in my opinion. She is astounding, and will remain as such. Thank you for the upload.

I have commented on your reaction to Whitney previously and I thoriughly enjoy your analysis of this amazing vocalist, who happens to also e the most beautiful as well.
Songs like these demonstrate why this woman is the greatest singer that not only lived, but that will ever live!! Yes! She is that good. As I have said on many occasions, there has never been a singer like her, and will never be in the future.
Like you, I could not keep still. This song really gets me going.iss Whitney big time!! We don't get them like this anymore. She was divinely gifted!!
Psyche, I gather from your reactions to Whitney that she may be your favourite artist of all time. For me, that is what she certainly is. I hope I can meet you one day, so we can share our thoughts on this legendary, I iconic vocalist . I am a fie hard fan for good reason, and am not too happy about the way her legacy is being secured. I have some ideas and would like to discuss them with true Whitney fans like yourself.

Love this song, I remember it playing on MTV all the time. And yea, I did sing along best as I could which essentially means I fucked it up, lol... it didn't matter that she sings about being every woman and I am a man. In some ways I feel genderless. I've allowed and hanged on to certain parts of me that might be considered more feminine than masculine... I guess in a way it's been a great strength of mine. I haven't had to pretend to not feel something. Anyway... great interpretation of the Chaka Khan original. In many ways it threw the ball out of the park and beat Chaka's version because she just had that agility in her voice during this time, she was vocally on top of her game. She had that girlish quality of her debut album, but also the depth of a grown woman. And it was lovely seeing her pregnant and happy in the video.

I really didn't realize how lucky I was until I lived in cities like Manhattan, NY and Chicago. When people from those cities asked me where I was from and I told them S.F., they looked at me with envy.

The entrire production of this cover was a love fest. When Whitney recorded it, Natalie Cole came to the studio just for company, Narada Michael Walden produced it with the harmonies as tight as Chaka had done 24 years earlier, and then the video had Bobby Brown's dancers, TLC, Valerie Simpson (who originally co-wrote the song), Martha Wash, Cissy Houston, and of course Chaka Khan. And above all, Whitney was very pregant with Bobbi Kristina.
