    Rail History
    The CN Rail line was constructed in 1925 to bring the produce and lumber of the Okanagan Valley to markets across the country. The line served the communities of Campbell Creek, Kamloops, Vernon, Coldstream, Lake Country, Okanagan Indian Band and Kelowna.
    Challenged with high costs and low revenues, in September 2013 CN Rail began the formal process of discontinuing the rail line running from Lumby Junction in Coldstream to Kelowna. In 2016, a two- year community fundraising campaign along with several grants raised the $7.8 million that was needed to develop the trail.

    Wonderful footage. We hope to get out to that area this summer/fall to ride your BC trails. If you don't mind me asking, you (seem) to have some type of bracket that you can clamp your drone controller to the bike handle bars. If this is correct, do you have any recommendations?...... Thanks - Doug

      Hi Doug! Thank you for watching this one. We highly recommend riding the Okanagan Rail Trail and, as well, the Kettle Valley Rail Trail in the area, especially riding the KVR section called Myra Canyon. Absolutely stunning with the 18 trestles and tunnels. We'll have a video out soon from our fall ride here. For the drone controller handle bar mount, we purchased through Amazon. Works great with the stock DJI Air2S controller. www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07DC6T5B5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, if you have the RC2 controller, here's the mount for this www.amazon.ca/Remote-Controller-Adjustable-Bicycle-Compatible/dp/B0CGQXPZX1/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3KHHISOIWT842&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.n8B4BLbRqwnFX8rBxFOCZh2Ka-lcL8TYJwQsIxEBaansS-K2lf7h56854DZZcj5FmnQTrnt6BEVWwk75H9pcLe13Gc6wtd0KugfCrQ8X9aQatyLbZxlSNXl1HJIMn3Kh4-sll3bCc3NVxK2_B9iGzYleyKZgAPLpLi1LkXmysba6jKxAL7bzwDRaWwvFvZeeIFUUTcLuryjS5GXUiCNRbEv0KaMir8aKb1dnAfBI1OiuW78wPb2EZ4fslNWafqTbXPz51HXTYDq53JlD8XTFWl5IVYhGJBcIx9DQprZ2llo.AmPoyVgkGH8At1Y_x3Uv0LQyoXQS9zzxCAbK2Lk7kTI&dib_tag=se&keywords=bike+mount+for+dji+rc+pro+controller&qid=1711480796&sprefix=bike+mount+for+dji+rc+pro+controlle%2Caps%2C134&sr=8-5

      Perfect - Thanks very much. We will keep our eye out for your upcoming Myra Canyon video. We were aware of this ride and it's on our list of ones to do while in your area. We're out of central Canada, but plan to be in your corner of the world as part of a larger e-bike tour this fall. As long as the smoke doesn't get to bad......;)
      Thanks again for the link......

      @@airstream2525that's great Doug. If you have time, we also recommend the Penticton to Naramata section of the KVR. Its a great e-bike ride with amazing views of Okanagan Lake. The distention for most is Little Tunnel, easily reachable from downtown Penticton where you can access the rail trail. Along the ride, there are many wineries, a brewery and Little tunnel is the highlight for sure. A few KM's north of Little Tunnel is the Adra Tunnel, currently under restoration. Another gem and should be open by the summer of 2024. The longest tunnel on the KVR line. BTW, we have done several rail trail videos, the most recent is the Penticton to Little Tunnel ride. Of course Cory is a great guy! He’s a packers fan.
    On a serious note, we did our first e-bike ride on the rail trail last weekend, rented at Kal Lake. It was a blast. Wish I had seen this before as Kayln’s bikes are on my radar and would have loved to rent one of his from the packers fan!
    Looking forward to meeting up with Kayln in September and your videos have made the decision easier.

      @@HappyTrailsAdventures I bought the 750 watt black stepover! Very impressed so far! I should have investigated further, I would have upgraded the battery when I bought it, the one it came with is just fine…just wanted that little extra range! So much fun!

    I absolutely loved having my e-bike when I was in the Prescott National Forest last year --- except when I lost the trail and had to lug that thing up the side of a mountain, through a barbed wire fence, and walked it back to camp with two flat tires. LOL. We put the slime in the tires so that NEXT TIME the tires won't go flat. Besides barbed wires there are too many things in the desert with spines and the tires on both our e-bikes and our pedal bikes get so many flats. And, if you ride an e-bike with a flat, there's a high chance that the tire will fall off the wheel, so don't do! Glad to see you get the chance to experience e-bike riding. Definitely do your research before you buy any cause they're definitely NOT all the same as far as quality goes.
    EDIT: The Avenza Maps app saved my life when I got lost. This let me pre-save the area maps, so even without internet or phone service, I could GPS my way back to the nearest marked road.

    Liked #18, electric bike sounds like a great idea for covering larger grounds. I have an electric scooter, the difference is that if the battery dies on the electric bike, you have the option to ride it back! It was cool of Corey to offer AAA version for electric bike! Oh the water is etra emerald from the aerial view than on the ground level. Totally cool that your drone has follow me mode. You are using Mini 3 Pro or Air2 or Air2Pro? I dent you some information about EU rules and laws on the reply comment, more of links. One is official EU drone, the other is UVA Ciach, they are also great. I recommend never go by youtubers on what they know or think they know of rules!!! Either go straight to the source or licensed sites ONLY!!!
    "I'm not going back to regular bike!" Haha 😄

We were ecstatic about our first time on e-bikes, truly a game changer for us😄. We have not purchased e-bikes yet, but soon. Need to research a bit further. We especially enjoyed the fat tires e-bikes rented at Oyama E-Bike & Board, they were perfect for the rail trail and for long distance covered. Super comfy ride. When we do decide on the type of e-bike, it will be nice to do a video and share the decision and what we do end up with😁. Keep in touch, look forward to connecting with you one day. T&S

    Have the obstacles sensor avoided all the tiny branches and leaves around the trees whether it is follow me mode or manually flying???

    • @HappyTrailsAdventures
      @HappyTrailsAdventures  Год назад +1

      On the rail trail adventure, we flew the DJI Air2s and yes, the obstacle avoidance worked perfectly around the branches with leave on them, both in active track ( follow me mode ) as well as manually. However, during winter flying, our experience with obstacle avoidance turned on and flying near the tiniest of branches ( twigs ), it a 50/50 chance of hitting. Hope that helps :)
