The McLaren 650S GT3 took the win at the Nürburgring round of the Blancpain Sprint Series this weekend. This time twenty years ago, we were celebrating a victory for the McLaren F1 GTR at the Nürburgring in the fifth race of the 1996 BPR Global GT Series. - Авто/Мото
The release of the McLaren F.1 quite simply marks a point in automotive history when all other manufacturers recognized that McLaren had done it. They had given birth to the perfect automotive off-spring. Even now, 20 years later, the car does not appear dated, and commands attention where ever it appears. It looks fabulous, sounds fabulous, and remains the jewel in the crown of the company's achievements.
Still fastest NA car ever built and I don't think many road legal NA cars have managed to top it in the last 20 years (S7 and ACR Viper being the only 2 I can think of right now)
TVR Cerbera Speed 12
@@gromann The Saleen S7 and the Dodge Viper.....seems the only way to even get near the F1's league is to be extraordinary.
And not to forget it still performs fabulous!
Thank Gordon Murray who designed it, while you listen to his reccomended track for the F1: Bob Dylan, Forever young,. Gad damn I am a f1 geek.
Quality of this video is excellent considering its age!
It's from the 90's, still... Not the 60s
Still, it's pretty good, we didn't even have HD back then.
it's a old camera on a car that is running with 300 km
This footage is ok. I have full race le mans onboards from this era which far surpass this quality, let alone it's content.
@@RyuChief lol, you do realise 35mm film can easily translate to 4K? They filmed Apollo 11 take off with 70mm film in 1969, you do the math…. HD/UHD was not invented by RUclips
Ah the good old days when racing used to be loud and no compromises
The best sound in the world!
Awesome footage..Added to favourites!
That's funny because ever since I was a kid in the 90s this car was the best of the best. I love it's looks.
But she's a whiney bitch. I hate the sound at high rpms. For a BMW engine it sounds...well whiney lol.
...it's damned 25 years ago!!! One of the best sounding and most beautiful cars in the world !!!
Absolutely my personal favorite car ever. I say the same thing. Even today it looks modern and fast. It was the world's fast for 30 years. The underdog that won it all with mechanical problems and no race experienced team. It held many world records. Most fast. Most expensive. Most desired. Most gold. It's is truly the greatest. The only car I drive......every day.
This car still looks fresh, how did they do it?
Gordon Murray...the man is a car genius.
highvelocity123 Murray just made the chassis
@@ETIMOSLAETUS
Murray dreamed of a three-seater sports car since young (which the Miura almost became), and drew a design concept while waiting at an airport for a flight home from the 1988 Italian Grand Prix. He showed Ron Dennis the design, and it was approved.
He designed this beautiful beast in less than 2 hours or so, it worked brilliantly and aged well.
Fun fact: He visited Honda Tochigi Research Centre, tested the NSX which Senna helped develop, and used it as a benchmark for the F1 instead of rival Ferrari's or Lamborghini's.
@@ack434 Man.....Honda's gotta use that as a feather in their cap at some point. The NSX was the benchmark.
Bruh I'd do nasty shit to have either one of those. An NSX for the street and winding roads, and the F1 GTR for a track work.
Peter Stevens designed interior and exterior of the car
Please post extended footage of this! Please! 20 years on, still the king.
Omg the sound at 1:59 my God it's beautiful, that beautiful scream
We need GT-Cars like the F1 GTR back so baad!
Amazingly fast shifting. I thought it was sequential until I saw his feet. Would have been great to see more of his footwork.
Yeah. No power steering. No power assisted or ABS brakes. NA engine for no turbo lag. It was however the first car I'm the world with a modem I guess so if it broke down, Maclaren could diagnose it online. It is the sickest car ever
Love the sound and brilliant driving.
Definitely, one of my dream cars as there's none like it out there.
The driver takes the centre seat and the whole world moves around.
Makes my eyes water :')
TIme, when racing is really an art with no limitations and purely innovative...❤❤💖💎
THE GOAT OF CARS!!!!
I swear if someone gives a dislike...
Someone did
There is always one, but they are the retarded spaz we all point and laugh at, because they likely enjoy eating earwax and would try making a pie with their own excrement.
Be happy you are normal and in similar company, unlike Dislike Dickhead
i'd love to see more!
There are more clips in the channel, but there's also a DVD called "In-Car Sportscar Experience" by Duke Videos (same footage, mostly the McLaren, but also other cars from the mid 1990s BPR Series). Put that into google.
+deggis4 thanks!
beautiful car and a good move in the last turn
I saw a LeMans Gulf McLaren F1 number 2 or 3 at Road America when I was a kid in the late 90's ever since it has been my favorite car.
Lotus Esprit GT1 & McLaren F1 GTR.
still looking as good as it did when i was kid. favorite car glow up
Yes!
😍 everything about this video is perfection 👏👍
Amazing footage! These things dust everything else... wow
The golden years of motor racing
Solo desearía poder verlo correr en sus años dorados, solo estar ahí viéndolo volar.
Great To Watch!
Awesome car. Amazing driving.
Symphony!
More Please:)
Put this IN MY VEINS
yes!!!!!!!!!
The McLaren F1 GTR has been built from 1995 to 1997-Wikipedia
Nope, I had a 1993 that I bought used in 1994.
thx.alot people..all are intelligent here.
Love it!
Cómo me gustaría ver estás carreras con la calidad de imagen de hoy en día..🥹🥹🤤
This video would of been the most flawless liked video and history. BUT ONE HATER HAD TO DISLIKE THIS.
Epic
Where is the remainder.??
i still like Senna's Heel & Toe in a NSX!! LOL!!
Is it just me, or is that not the Nurbergring? That bit at the end is the start to the Circuit Du Sarth.
No, its most definitely the Nurburgring GP circuit.
Oh right. I forgot about that; I'm most familiar with the Nordschleife.
+Veezyjung Yeah, me too. I just know the layout of the GP track because of Formula 1 - It doesn't even compare with the 'real' green hell!
Which, if you'll recall, the P1 absolutely monstered at a reported lap time of 6'47"
I want to see a fleet of P1 GTRs and F1 GTRs and LMs race around The Green Hell. McLaren, if you're reading this, make it happen - it'll be epic, I promise.
+Veezyjung Yes
Please tell me the top speed the F1 hit on the nordschleife straight? I’m trying to tune an F1 to match it. Thanks!
Because of regulations on engine power output and increased most F1 GTRs were set up to top out around 185-190 mph
Will Mclaren ever bring back the manual transmission in a car that will weigh close to 1,150 kg + Mechanical LSD at a reasonable price ? Porsche is still offering manuals, but they're pigs =(
Well I guess McLaren is scared that someone who thinks money buys skill would crash their cars
Forget it
So sick of this paddle shifting bullshit. This is a REAL race car. This is REAL driving. If my grandmother can shift a manual, it's not a race car, imo
VirginianHighlander paddle shifting cars get quicker lap times
Upeita videoita.
Geez !!
0:52 nice footwork...wait yall got a camera down there???
Build a manual drivers car again!!
You tube algorithm brought me here to say thank you for asking, Gordon Murray heard. T50 and T50s!!!
Mclaren just keep building Christmas decoration cars
on assetto this thing drives like a fuckin go kart
moar pls
Manual gearbox and a clutch. Oh baby, the F1 rules
I don't play soccer and haven't won the lottery. So how about a McLaren for real people?
Something attainable with the McLaren ethos. Instead of over-hyped sports car or hyper car how about a drivers car? Manual transmission, fewer drivers aids and a price people with proper jobs and mortgages can afford. Something as good as the Lotus Evora 400
The 540C comes close but £50,000 more for a car that my well be dynamically superior but less involving to drive (fun) is like asking someone to pay to have their soul sucked out of them.
McLaren is only about the best of the best, latest technology, carbon tub, engine, suspension, interior, exterior, all the r/d for the aero, it all comes with a high price, if you want the best of the best you'll have to pay for it. that's what their all about, that's only what they specialize in. Theirs too many basic cars you can buy for $50k, if you want the McLaren name you'll have to pay for it :(.
That's kind of the point. Technology for the sake of advancement is all well and good but technology for the sake of technology is a waste. Unless you're playing Top Trumps that is.
They aren't exactly overhyped the f1 is a masterpiece
I'm a big fan of the F1 it was the first practical super car. The newer models are over hyped.
You could consider buying one of these if your skills are up to scratch:
