For most students I’d avoid a surface pro, unless you do a very creative course, even then I’d suggest an IPad, you’d be better off with an actual laptop, cause the surface pro has a relatively small screen, performance isn’t as good as price suggests, and it’s not particularly usable on a lap. My biggest university mistake was getting one
the Surface is a bit of a bad choice because desks can be incredibly tiny, especially in college halls, so using a kickstand might not be a good idea. I'm out of school now but I've got enough experience in school lol
Why not go for the Asus G14 or G16 for the laptop? It gives you gaming capabilities and all your laptop needs with great battery backup. This is a bit too much i believe

I'd say hinders because students won't learn to solve problems as much. From the video demo I think I remember that you can write out a function, get the graph and change the variables in real time. That is pretty useful.
