    It is much easier to sweat the leeks onion and potatoes in butter and black pepper for an hour or so then add one and half litres of stock and 500ml of milk with salt and pepper and cook as usual. I also blend mine. 😀

    Hi. I just found your channel and subscribed. My parents bought me a slow cooker for Christmas & was looking to try it out (but not sure what with) as never used/had one before. You've inspired me to try out your recipes and see how I get on. It's just me and my son, so if I make too much I suppose i could freeze the excess for another day.

    Have some pride, woman!! Yes, you are a mum chef, but only very high rated chefs start everything from scratch....and that's only because they have an army of sous chefs helping them!! Your typical restaurant/take-away chef is using the same "cheats" as you are....all the instant gravy, etc. You are a fabulous CHEF.

    • @WrightAtHome
      @WrightAtHome  5 лет назад +4

      Hey Sarah thank you for your kind words and your so very right but not everyone thinks like you haha I do get comments like this is proper cooking (making everything from scratch) but I'm just a mum cook you know family cooking is different than restaurant cooking I really appreciate you watching and commenting you always comments such fair comments xx

    I am sooooo pleased with this video! Finally something about really healthy family meals from the slowcooker. Most video’s on the subject are from american people who just dump in all kinds of horrible can’s and boxes stuff...and the result doesn’t even look appealing...
    And your video shows stuff that is healthy and normal food for a family in a normal school or work week.
    Thanks! Please make more like these...

  • @tomelliott565

    If you put a double layer of kitchen roll on the top of your slow cooker, then put the lid on, all the condensation that forms on the lid will not fall into what your making, instead it will just be caught by the kitchen roll, and your recipes won't get too watery.

    Tip for doing your chicken 🐔 in the slow 🐢 cooker is raise your chicken up of the bottom of your slow 🐢cooker so that the juices run of the chicken 🐔,strain the juices and use to make the gravey, Also I noticed your slow 🐢cooker is the standard type nothing wrong with that,to give you flexibility in cooking times get a plug-in socket timer,set it to switch on and of your slow 🐢cooker to give you cooking time flexabilty,prepare the ingredients and pop them in the slow 🐢cooker at a time convenient for you to do so,set the wall timer ⏳➡⌛to switch on your slow 🐢cooker for the period and the time you require to cook the meal,you can go out and do your shopping pick up the kids from school,and come home to hot cooked meal,also if your are doing soup make it during the night 🌙 when 😴asleep,get up to hot soup on a cold morning,put in a flask for the other half for work,also for the kids at school,nothing better on a cold day to put a smile 😃 on there face, then you can cook the dinner for that day in the way I suggested,by doing so you are utilizing and getting the most and best out of your slow 🐢cooker, I have just bought a Prestige slow 🐢 cooker from Amazon for around £30 with a digital timer built in that does everything ,a count down timer to switch on the slow 🐢cooker,and also sets the cooking time to cook the meal,and then switches to go warm to keep the meal hot until you are ready to eat,I bought the 3.5 Ltr version witch is adequate for me,there is a slightly bigger version 5Ltr again that is down to choice and your needs as a family,👪👬,you can still keep and use your existent cooker,but get greater cooking flexibility and convenience by far with the digital version.😋

    Fantastic vlog I’ve sent the link to my son who works late and this would be so helpful to him. I stick veg and 3/4pint bone broth in my mini slow cooker every morning to have soup for lunch.

    How was the chicken in the slow cooker? I cook beef and pork in the slow cooker but I have never tried a whole chicken as I'm worried it's not cooked all the way through. How long did you cook it for? X

    Great meals and I love cooking in the crockpot. When I cook my chicken whole I take 3 to 4 med size balls of tin foil and put in the bottom of the cooker, then sit my chicken on top of them, that way the chicken does not sit in that grease while cooking. Just a little tip. :) Thanks so much for sharing, hope to see you do more those were great!!

      Wright At Home i use a lot of Quorn & make typically “meat” dishes but with the veggie alternative! Like meatballs and spaghetti, lasagne, sausage and mash. I always cook with Quorn for meat eaters and they really enjoy it. Roasted sweet potato and red pepper fajitas is another meal I love & chickpea and roasted vegetable pasta bake x
