I wish FFG would give this some more love. Especially reprinting Unbreakable Bonds. The game transforms for solo with it. Great play through Colin, I really enjoy some of the older games.
I am with you! I wish they would show some more love to the game, but it seems like it is done. I really appreciate you watching even these older games, it is so much fun to pull them back out!
I just now found a copy of Unbreakable Bonds still in shrink for $20 at my local Half Price Books!! I've been looking forever, not wanting to pay ebay prices of course, and there it was. So happy!!
Great video Colin. I love Runebound 3rd and was so happy to be able to get a copy, since it seems to be sold out almost everywhere. One thing I noticed was, that you spend terrain symbols of your choice to move onto roads (like in 18:44 and 1:09:47 [though there it didn‘t matter, since you one wild anyway]). I think the rules say, only movement from one road to another can use any symbol and to move onto a road, you need to spend the symbol under the first road tile. Anyway, thanks for your great content. Keep it up please.
Hey Colin, love the video! Not sure if this has been picked up, but at 43:34 you could have removed the Giant's shield using the crossbow because you had won the initiative. Keep you the great work! Just finished watching and noticed you corrected yourself, good spot...
Colin, I love the effort and passion you put in your videos. Wish there was a german channel which has the same quality in the playthrough videos. Keep up the good work! Greetings from Germany!
Top 100 game for me Just did a janky solo last week since I don't have unbreakable bonds. I find it completely possible without the combat mat to fight yourself. Such a joy to explore and play this one.
OMG. Mic drop...like a pro! My two characters got smashed by Margath. Spent too much time collecting lore and not enough assets. I might have to watch this again for further inspiration :)
Thanks for watching! I used a copy for a shield? I think the tactics can be used as a shield but the copy can only copy a shield token. Is that what you are saying?
@@OneStopCoopShop Yeah, so the Tactics has to copy a symbol on a token you have. You blocked with a Tactics when you had no shield token for the Tactics to copy.
@@OneStopCoopShop You are right, it can copy a symbol from anyone OR be used to block. I didn't reread far enough. Carry on, and sorry for the confusion.

Love watching play throughs of this. You made it look easy even forgetting all that mind.meld damage :) Would be keen to see if you can beat the Red Death scenario. Seems super hard.
Great playthrough! And timely, as I'm neck deep in playthroughs of all five of the Unbreakable Bonds scenarios (solo) right now. I've been enchanted with Runebound 3E for a couple years, and it really comes into its own with Unbreakable Bonds. At the very least, I wish FFG would release a few card-deck-only scenario expansions. I've dabbled with writing my own, but the FFG production quality is so high and hard to compete with.
The Margath scenario is definitely the most straightforward, and it’s always a tough & fun fight. If you ever want some new content for Runebound, I suggest giving this guy’s custom scenario a try: ruclips.net/video/-ZagkuWxKLY/видео.html It’s pretty epic!
Earlier this year I had my first contact with Rubebound 3e. Just the base game, found it in local library (at least my language version is hard to buy nowadays). Gave it few goes and deffinitely didn't share the enthusiasm people had about this game - for me it was just ok, probably too random, especially with orange events. Big flaw was also just 2 scenarios in base game - and dragon one was more like the introduction - didn't add much difference mechanicaly. But I'm really happy I clicked on this video - I found it really enjoyable to watch. This cooperative mode seems very interesting - shame it wasn't in the base game and required expansion. You also got quite lucky. Well maybe not the first encounter ;) but later not only You had a lot of gold coming in, You were also getting opportunities to buy quite useful items to snowball into late game.
The moonbeam cat reminds me of Inside the Box. "So what's the power creep of this game? You start at kitten level and go up from there?" "No. You fought a kitten and got your ass kicks. You are somewhere below that." Great playthrough!
Fantastic choice of game, Colin! I enjoyed the last time you played it aswell, and that actually made me go all in, buying the base game plus all expansion. Since then I've also picked up the 2nd edition, plus some of the expansions. A spontaneous feeling that I have, is that 2nd ed is better for solo play. Not sure about that though, because I've never played 3rd ed solo, and 2nd only solo two times. Anyways, thanks for the video!
Really interesting to hear! What is it that makes you feel 2nd edition is better solo? I love the team skills in this one for co-op so I almost exclusively play 2 player for that one. Thanks for watching!!
@@OneStopCoopShop Well, as I said, I'm not sure, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt :) but for me, it feels much quicker and less to keep track of, since you roll dice and compare numbers when fighting. The combats aren't even a tenth as time consuming as in 3rd edition. One might feel differently about that fact, and I'm actually quite fond of those pogs that you get to flip, but when playing solo, I kinda appreciate more streamlined things. In other aspects, they are of course different from each other, but not super mega different. So you scratch the same itch no matter which edition you choose. The theme also feels a bit stronger in 2nd Ed I think, since pretty much all cards have a fluffy story text on them, which I feel is lacking in 3rd ed. Although, on the other hand, 3rd ed has a better main story feel instead of short texts on all cards... lol... I don't know, all I know for sure is that I like them both. I know that you had a video just after you had played through 3rd ed last time, where you ranked... I think it was the top 10 adventure games? Maybe? And Runebound didn't score that high on your list as I remember it. Has this game grown on you since then? How would you rate it today? :)
Great to see more runebound here! I ve got one last figurine to paint before re-playing my own! (I even found a 15€ copy of the second edition to try it out with some bgg solo variant) I still love this game, but I made few rules changes to "dynamize" it! 1). I make the interact to cost 1 instead of two actions! Which helps a lot more to get a much better "exploring" feeling thru the game. 2) I'm still testing this one, but I found that some games, you're just accumulating some trophies or skills cards... And sometimes, you got just one or two "stuck" into your hand and no efficient ways to use those.. Which is annoying.. So I gave a 1coin value to sell those in big cities while buying stuff. 3) same with the skills, I allow to pay/switch with already owned skills, so If I have a little skill costing 1 red and 1 green bubbles in play. I can, once I get a new one, discard that skill i have into play, to pay a part of a new one that is more expansive. Making easier to grab some great skills on endgame and getting a better feeling of leveling up. 3) I aslo, during setup, make the "starting market" cheaper. Allowing to re re-draw some cards from it while setup the game, so I avoid annoying starts like (only 6 to 10 cost gears... To buy) wich help having smoother starts. 4) still looking (and testing) To boost controls over Tokens while fighting, (the lightning result especially) so I get a better chance to control enemies Tokens a bit more. For exemple : Discard/use 1 of those (lightning) token for a normal use.Or Discard two of those for an improved effect And same with 3 of those.. So basicaly, The more I discard those (lightning) results, the better control effect i get. 5) About that Margath dragon. I tried games where I do not roll the dragon dices for his mouvement. Instead I advance him 1 space every turn, for 2 reasons : 1) thematically, it makes the dragon move like if he was on a cruise to the city 2) it gave you the time to make some last actions before the final fight. As I can't recall how many time that dragon rush the city so hard coz he got some crazy dice rolls from me.. So i was facing him, Unhealed and in some really bad shape... 6) I m doing some re-writing on some heroes that are just so bad for solo / coop modes Like.. Corbin for exemple ! I'm planning to play few games of Runebound this weekend, problem is I can't for the life of me decide if I should play second or third edition xD I have both editions with all of their expansions and it's hard to pick which one to play lol. My problem with the third edition is those annoying dice and stickers >.> they keep falling off :( I already made a custom laser printed dice but dunnu when those will be here, sigh.....
Damnit I already have a full set of Scythe coins, but after reading your comment and realizing that the Roll Player ones were just primarily 1s and 3s, I ordered a set for Runebound as well. Boardgaming is a wallet addiction!
I knew very little about this game, despite it being an FFG classic. Agreed that it really should get more attention, and I'm going to see if I can hunt this one down. It seems like it'd be great with either one or two players. Is the 3rd edition markedly different from the earlier versions?
You've got it, great 1-2 player game for sure! I wish I could tell you the differences, I didn't play any of the other editions. This one has a true solo- co-op mode, pretty sure the others do not. but the others use dice instead of pogs! Hope you can find a copy!!
Very good game. If I was not going all in on Hexplore It, this would be my hexcrawl game of choice. But I already have an amazing game in that niche, so....
From what I understand once you start combat with the boss it is do or die, no do-overs on this one! So make sure you are prepared before taking him on! Good luck out there!
One Stop Co-op Shop yeah it doesn’t use those coin just dice. I feel 3rd edition is a little gimmicky. The art is better in 3rd though. If you get a chance you should try it.
I need to stop watching your playthroughs. You get me excited about more games than I should buy. What edition of Runebound is this (base game not expansion)? I thought the game was fairly old.
Colin might disagree, but I'm 100% with you. Not that 3rd edition is terrible, but 2nd edition could get pretty epic with the 3 battle phases and the crazy abilities you could earn - Mike

I get you! I am asking my buddie if I can borrow his second edition runebound to see what is like! Good luck deciding!
I love this game
Me too!
Gosh I love this game - I like it so much I bought roll player metal coins for it- they’re perfect 😂
Oh awesome!! Great idea!! Thanks for watching!
Damnit I already have a full set of Scythe coins, but after reading your comment and realizing that the Roll Player ones were just primarily 1s and 3s, I ordered a set for Runebound as well. Boardgaming is a wallet addiction!
Kornstalx haha it’s true- I love blinging out as many games as I can- and it just punches your wallet in the face for sure 😂
Thanks for watching Franck! I will say a much prefer this pretty hexploreit!
@@pauldicocco8850 Yes. There are even rule variants for solo play.
From what I understand once you start combat with the boss it is do or die, no do-overs on this one! So make sure you are prepared before taking him on! Good luck out there!
@@OneStopCoopShop thank you very much for the help! Top Channel!!! Greetings from Germany
Appreciate you watching and commenting!!! Good luck taking on those dragons or spiders! They are not easy!!
Such a great game! Really wish I could get my hands on Unbreakable Bonds again!
Thanks and I agree!! Such a blast to play hope you can find a copy!!
They just need to release another expansion to even out the colours on the cards :(
I KNOW!!!
i used to have this game, but its too clunky to play alone and too lengthy game for 2 players, it has great gameplay though
I get all of that! For some reason it works well for me solo
I like 2nd edition so much better than 3rd edition.
Nice! Never played 2nd edition
One Stop Co-op Shop yeah it doesn’t use those coin just dice. I feel 3rd edition is a little gimmicky. The art is better in 3rd though. If you get a chance you should try it.
Thanks for letting me know!
I like this game except for the terrain dice.
I agree this dice are rubbish!!
now I can see why you never play this game with more than 2 people the amount of down time waiting for your turn would be insane
You have got it! 1-2 players for me for sure!
I need to stop watching your playthroughs. You get me excited about more games than I should buy. What edition of Runebound is this (base game not expansion)? I thought the game was fairly old.
Thanks for watching! This is a base game and the unbreakable bond expansion! This is the runebound 3rd edition!
Battle is sooooooo bad in this game.....
I'm staying with my 2ed that is actually very good.
Colin might disagree, but I'm 100% with you. Not that 3rd edition is terrible, but 2nd edition could get pretty epic with the 3 battle phases and the crazy abilities you could earn - Mike
I've never played 2nd edition so I can't compare!
@@OneStopCoopShop I agree with you Mike.
Colin should have a chance to try 2ed at some point though.
Be well both. 😊
If I find a cheap copy I will!!
@@OneStopCoopShop you will not be sorry. 👍👍
