    Out of all the watercolor videos I watched this is my favorite. I’m jealous of the sound on the background! It is like ur in a forest or in a beautiful scenery. U can really relaxe when you paint .

    As a beginner in watercolor, this is really helpful like I haven't thought of painting by color before, because I always fill all the colors of one part before moving on to the next, so this taught me to be more economical so I won't be wasting paint because of having to change colors all the time. Thank you so much! I learn a lot from your videos. 😊

    These cafe sketches are my favorite subjects!! Like someone said earlier...thank you for talking us through your thought process of working the colors through your sketch. I would have loved to have also seen the actual pen/ink drawing process too. (I'm a big fan of yours, Teoh!) :)

      +Sylvia Catalano Thanks. For pen and ink drawing process, it's more difficult to record and voiceover, so for those there are only timelapse videos. You can check out the timelapse videos at ruclips.net/user/teohycsearch?query=timelapse

    Teoh, I really enjoyed this very much - thank you!. Your ability to draw large, detailed, complex subjects is very inspiring. It was really nice to see you painting in real time speed, and hearing your thought process. A lot of work for you, but great instruction for us 😀

    +AkiraFist After I finish QoR, I'll try other brands. I like trying different brands of watercolour, but I also don't want to buy so many and try at the same time. So I want to buy one, finish it before getting a new one. Currently, my favourite is Daniel Smith.

    Love this and your minimal palette inspires me to use the fewest colors. I am a beginner but we all watch those we hope to imitate.

    I'm always so happy to see one of your videos appear on my feed Teoh, often years after you've made it. This scene is very peaceful, and the sketch works well both coloured and uncoloured. I note from more recent videos that you only get better with each sketch, not that any need improvement.

    I recently found your blog. I'm loving your reviews of different watercolours, both on the blog and in your videos. I really enjoyed this tutorial. Your color mixing explanations are very helpful. I'm starting to invest in artist grade watercolours, which means I need to buy a few colors and practice mixing more colors on my own instead of buying a large palette of pre-mixed colors.

    I'm admiring your perspective in this picture. I am struggling with indoor perspective exactly when I try to sketch is a coffee shop. This looks like one point perspective, the point being somewhere around the entrance doorway. What if you were sitting to the left where the guy with the laptop is sitting? There are a lot of videos on this subject to draw perspective from imagination but I haven't yet been able to apply it to what I am seeing on location. I will keep trying.

    • @numbuh53
      @numbuh53 7 лет назад

      it's 2 point perspective. but i believe teoh is just really good at drawing what he sees, instead of thinking about it too much.

    Thank you so much for the tutorial! I am wondering - I have not been out to try to sketch "live" on the spot scenes, but since I am so new to sketching, I wonder - what did you do in the beginning when you were sketching people and they got up and left and you weren't finished sketching them?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  8 лет назад

      +Laura Lu Well, if people leave halfway, you can fill them in with your imagination or just leave that part of the sketch unfinished. Usually, when you have practiced sketching lots of people, you will soon be able to draw them without having a reference. For me, I will sit for a few minutes to observe whether or not the people are going to leave.

    Thanks for sharing your skills. I truly enjoyed it. I just want to ask how you decide what colors to use?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  7 лет назад

      I don't have a system for choosing specific colours. I just choose any 3 primary colours plus two others. It does not matter which 3 primaries to choose (red, yellow, blue). It only matters if you want realism because that's when you need to use specific colours.
