Light Sith do not use the dark side. Otherwise, they're just normal Sith. Light Sith are adherents of the Sith teachings that rejected the dark side of the Force in favor of the light. Nonetheless, these Sith retained their devotion to the Sith as an organization. As for the greater good, that is very subjective from person to person and time period to time period. Darth Marr, before his death, was full blown dark side yet was very rational Sith that didn't let his emotions control him, instead using them as a tool. He did what he thought was for the greater good of them empire. He was just a Sith.
It depends on the author, but Lucas himself is extremely blunt about the 'Dark side' being basically just evil under all circumstances. It is corrupting and wrong, and much like the One Ring in Lord of the Rings, using it with good intent is just a foolish way for the victim to be corrupted and changed the same as any other user is. The Light Side is the actual, only true way and that's the end of it. At the moment the issue hasn't been definitively dealt with in canon, but it's not particularly likely that Star Wars, with such a distinct Light/Dark divide baked in to the settings' space magic, would actually allow for a 'good' Dark Side user to exist for long without becoming like all the other Dark Side users....it is, after all, explicitly powered by hatred and malice.

The Sith are correct. To master the Force, one must understand it; Dark Jedi lack the discipline to immerse themselves fully within its mysteries and often seek petty short term gains over ultimate power. That being said, it seems odd to me to claim Darth Maul as a Dark Jedi. Maul was never a part of the Jedi Order, nor did he base his approach to the Force on anything resembling the disciplines and philosophies of the Jedi (compare him to Count Dooku, who as a fallen Jedi retained the discipline and self control instilled in him by his training). Maul seems rather more like a failed Sith than a Jedi of any sort - cut off from his lineage and forced to hide in the shadows rather than take his master’s place. The phrase should be reserved for those who either directly came from the Jedi Order, or for their acolytes - at least, until the rogue Jedi form an order of their own.

Interesting explanation. The more I learn about this the more I realize a lot of the writing is heavily focused on eroding all sense of individuality. Sometimes I think applying all these titles just diminishes any sense that each character is meant to be a person. They are all force users sure but the subject of 'completing their training' just seems like a means of erasing their individuality for power whether it's Sith or Jedi. I honestly believe many people would actually walk away from such lifestyles and choose to live in seclusion to complete their training with the force on their own. I'd much prefer stories about non-affiliated force users and conscious ai who don't want to accept slavery. Seems to me that would make a surprisingly good story since it's more relatable. Actually I do have a neat question I'd like the community to answer, and live to see a video explaining why/how it came to this conclusion, In the clone wars we see a jedi turn traitor in the name of krell. General krell used two double bladed Lightsabers with a unique fighting style suited for his species. So the question goes as follows; How would he fair in a battle against General Grievous, and in what way do both have advantages and disadvantages? Legends can be considered, but my main interest is canon lore. Whichever way it goes, I'd really like to see a video relating to this, in the future, in some way.😊👍
grievous could use 4 different lightsaber styles with his 4 arms. krell could technically keep up but he most likely would fight him with the force at range
Fair point, but Grevious does have the ability and some what skill to adapt to his opponents. An example is his brief duel against Mace Windo. So that could be Krells advantage, however, Grievous is also skilled at manipulation in a devious advantage kind of way. Still. All the more interest in this decision eh?😊
Maul is a sith, not a dark Jedi. Even in legends he wouldn't qualify. Rule of two or not he was outright raised a sith. He might be classed as a "light sith" like we see in the old republic.
We hate Jedi like mace, mundi and krel because of there hypocrisy, arrogance and self superiority. For a Jedi to embrace the dark side would make them not only worse than any sith but only heighten the worst qualities of the Jedi order
I don’t think Maul was considered a dark Jedi because he was never trained as a Jedi technically it makes more sense to categorize maul solely a dark side user not a Jedi or sith
If you do another video on dark force users, could you offer a commentary on the dark force user in Star Wars Visions (The Duel)? I understand that this dark ronin really has no other backstory besides what was in the short episode, but he did beat a sith. Some forensic analysis of what clues are available would be fun.
A ronin would be if Qui-Gon jinn left the order and didn't become evil, count dooku leaving the order to help his world with its political problems would have been a ronin if he didn't turn to evil
I generally thought a Dark Jedi was a Jedi who turned to the Dark Side and that would include Sith who were Jedi once. So Darth Vader and Count Dooku are Dark Jedi while Palpatine and Darth Maul are not.
Didn't they mention an a previous video that it was the Light Jedi who first attacked the Dark Jedi? Why are they saying now that it's unclear who attacked first? Just asking because I personally don't know much about the conflict.
This is why i love star wars. Each Jedi/sith/force user can all be unique in their own way. Like Cal Kestis, his experience is unique, therefore so is his power and connection to the force. Is he a Dark Jedi? A grey Jedi? A future sith lord/ inquisitor? Really gets me wanting to read more into the Star Wars universe.
I think it would be interesting to see what Force users were like before the Jedi really got started. Chances are a lot of them were dark-side users who controlled much of the galaxy, And a lot of early Jedi probably leaned towards the dark side to start with...
They have a series of books about it actually. They started on a planet called tython, if my memory is serving me well today. It was a planet that suffered severe lighting or plasma storms if a force user used the force out of balance. It was like accelerated natural selection for force sensitives. They understood the desire, and I would argue necessity, for power but also to keep it in check through active restraint and training. One rogue force user having a temper tantrum could spell havoc for an entire community half way across a continent. It's been a while since I've read those, but it's a solid series. Question is... can u still read?
Purple saber would have been great for the brotherhood of darkness, with none being a Darth and it's like sith equality lol but it's a neat idea as well
Isn't that why mace windu's lightsaber purple? It's fused together by the blue and the red which makes it purple? I know it's something like that the light and the dark together??
He is a jedi but his lightsaber combat style is pretty much fueled by the enjoyment of combat and the intensity and dare i say anger but without giving into it, it's called Vapaad. It also is extremely effective when facing any dark side user because it turns all their negative emotions and dark side power onto the dark sider that is how Mace beat Palpatine in Revenge of The Sith. So yea in a way that is why his lightsaber is purple. (Hope that helps)

Just popped into my head while watching your video, I never really liked the good/evil thing about the force, the dark side/light side thing, I don't subscribe to the idea of evil or good in a traditional sense, but that's a different topic lol, I think of the force as, rational, logical equaling the "light side" and emotional equaling the "dark side". I’m curious with what people are gonna say to me writing this. No offense but I extremely disagree with you saying “Savage and Darth Maul would definitively classify as Dark Jedi" Savage and Maul never started off as Jedi so it wouldn’t be appropriate to give them the title DJ. While yes the two attempted to kill Sidious that was just because the two were no longer on the same side. Maul literally started off as a Sith, and remained one all the way up to Clone Wars. In Rebels he may have no longer been Sith but he used their teachings, definitely was no Dark Jedi. The only people who deserve the title in canon is Asajj Ventress and the Inquisitors since they originally started off as Jedi. Darth Vader doesn’t deserve the title though, even though he may have been a Jedi he was granted the Darth title which Ventress and the Inquisitors don’t have. Asajj was never a Sith just a assassin. Maul and Savage shouldn’t be described as Dark Jedi.
Very few Dark Jedi could match the Sith in terms of knowledge and power. There were only a handful of exceptions. Volfe Karkko and Inquisitor Jerec being prime examples.
i was always under the opinion that the Sith were an official Dark Jedi Creed, named after the species they conquered millenia ago. the original Sith Lords were a group of Dark Jedi called The Exiles. funny, a friend of mine belongs to a group called The Exiles, and they are all Star Wars buffs. but they never knew about the in universe Exiles.
What is the difference between Grey Jedi and Dark Jedi? The Dark Jedi seem to be more Sith like and are mostly self serving. Grey Jedi seem to be more open minded and are often not as evil at heart, as well as having arguably the best understanding of the force and how to balance light and dark.
If you are a star wars fan then you would know that there are no dark or even Gray jedi as from the words from the creator of Star wars himself Gorge Lucas!
I don't think one can be aptly named a Dark Jedi if one has never been a Jedi to begin with. If one has never been trained (even briefly) as a Jedi or a Sith, one could for exemple be called a Dark Side user or a Darksider maybe. For this reason, I can't get behind you when you site Maul and Opress as exemples of Dark Jedi. Ventress yes, on the other hand, as she was at least a Jedi Padawan when she started to fall to the Dark Side.

@@TritonsGuard including the training and the access to sith knowledge, whereas Dark Jedi are just the edgier versions of jedi with no formal knowledge on what they are doing UNTIL they get access to said knowledge which does have a significant impact on their threat level
I feel Exar and Reven should most definitely be Dark Jedi they never really thought like sith and where in control of they emotions
@@donnellebarfield3964 they both had formal training by the sith so they wouldn't fall into the dark jedi category
@@donnellebarfield3964 Dark Jedi are in control of their emotions?
Set Harth is a dark jedi I'd love to see more of.
It’s also very different to fall or be born to the dark side
I would love to know more about the dark Jedi
Set hart was going to be Darth Zhanna apptentice but he stole the holocorn for essence transfer and vanished never to be seen again. Sneaky Dark Jedi
Basically the Dark Jedi are like "The Ronin".
A ronin would be if Qui-Gon jinn left the order and didn't become evil, count dooku leaving the order to help his world with its political problems would have been a ronin if he didn't turn to evil
Some sith were dark jedi.but the greatest sith were never "tainted" by the teachings of the jedi.
@New World sidious and bane were greater,in my estimation.
Exar kun was a previous jedi and one of the most powerful sith Lords of all time.
The founding members of the Sith order were indeed fallen Jedi
I generally thought a Dark Jedi was a Jedi who turned to the Dark Side and that would include Sith who were Jedi once.
So Darth Vader and Count Dooku are Dark Jedi while Palpatine and Darth Maul are not.
This was good... star wars fan but never distinguished between the 2.. thanks
Didn't they mention an a previous video that it was the Light Jedi who first attacked the Dark Jedi?
Why are they saying now that it's unclear who attacked first?
Just asking because I personally don't know much about the conflict.
The shot when Darth Vader walked up after starkiller smoked those Stormtroopers were always be epic.
5:00 I don’t blame the Galactic Republic for Hating the Legions of Jarred Leto 🤔
One of the last images for this video looks like a Darth John Wick...something I need now more than ever lolol
5:15 cool darth talon poster
My fav dark Jedi is Desaan from jk2 Jedi outcast followed by jerec but they're both legends 👍
The Knights of Ren seem to be perfect examples of what Dark Jedi are. Those that use the Dark yet only to their own means and aren’t well established.
Except the Knights of Wren are weaker than most Dark Jedi, and are more like gangsters than a Force Order.
@@furonbrainiac6634 True but as Mr. Wave had said most Dark Jedi had no order or organization just force users that normally used the Dark to their own means and weren’t all that power compared to the normal Sith. Just like how Darth Vader had challenged the leader of the Knights of Ren and bested him with ease.
@@InfiniteNaos i personally didn't know that story about Vader and the kngiths nor that they were that old.
@@furonbrainiac6634 The group is older in the comics compared to the movies, but several characters were killed off then replaced when the original leader Ren was finding people whom had a great affinity for “the shadow” that being the DarkSide.
When I first heard you talk of the dark Jedi, i wondered if the hutts and dooku might be examples.
Dark Jedi and Sith Assassin and Acolyte are often the same thing. Ventress is a former Sith Assassin, but she is often classify as Dark Jedi, on the other hands, Jedi who fall to the Dark side is also a Dark Jedi.
Tarron Malicos is an excellent example of a dark Jedi
I know it all depends on the individual’s connection to the Force, but who would win in this Dark Side showdown: Sith or Dark Jedi?
Personally I think Sith, they had a way better grasp on the dark side
Sith, their knowledge of the dark side and their brutal training makes them superior.Dark Jedi are mere Sith Pretenders in my opinion
Depends on too many factors to be certain in a Random Encounter, including Era.
@@theseekerofancienttruth3873 true
I personally choose Dark Jedi, they aren’t bound by rules or traditions, therefore extremely dangerous and unpredictable
"Do you know the story of Darth Flatus the Fragrant?"
"N...no, I don't think I do..."
"Good. Trust me, you're happier not knowing."
It's funny how a lot of sith are just dark jedi because of their heritage.
Thanks for this! I always kinda just assumed that in Kotor dark Jedi’s and with acolytes were the same thing.
Eh lol just something to talk about I guess, anyway, much love everyone.
I thought the Sith hated everyone! That they draw their power from hate. Was Legends Vosa, the woman behind the "death sticks" the one Jango Fett battled and Count Dooku choke killed, a dark Jedi?
Trust me.. this is a good video. I looked at my people and I said, "wow what a good video" I asked them, and believe me they know they're very educated in this matter, they said it was good.
I love star wars, always a lot to learn.
10-30-22 does this mean the Dark Jedi can be evil or can Dark Jedi have the will power to not let things go to their head?
Very few Dark Jedi could match the Sith in terms of knowledge and power. There were only a handful of exceptions. Volfe Karkko and Inquisitor Jerec being prime examples.
I counted & you said ‘Dark Jedi’ 157 times this video
i was always under the opinion that the Sith were an official Dark Jedi Creed, named after the species they conquered millenia ago. the original Sith Lords were a group of Dark Jedi called The Exiles. funny, a friend of mine belongs to a group called The Exiles, and they are all Star Wars buffs. but they never knew about the in universe Exiles.
Anything on lord Vader father king lord dark lord plagues lives he behind everything cloneing himself over over
Are dark Jedi or gray Jedi even cannon. Never seen them in any Star Wars content before.
What is the difference between Grey Jedi and Dark Jedi? The Dark Jedi seem to be more Sith like and are mostly self serving. Grey Jedi seem to be more open minded and are often not as evil at heart, as well as having arguably the best understanding of the force and how to balance light and dark.
The Virgin Dark Jedi vs The Chad Sith
George Lucas said it's impossible for grey jedi to exist.
If you are a star wars fan then you would know that there are no dark or even Gray jedi as from the words from the creator of Star wars himself Gorge Lucas!
More dark jedi video's please. Can you try a dark jedi origins video?
Let's hope we see more sith Lords
Sadly Disney will never delve to deeply into the Sith and if they do, Disney will try to make them "Morally Grey" rather than full out monsters.
Goths vs Emos!.
Palpertine was a excellent example of a dark jedi.
I’m going to say this if you was to make a list of the top 10 even 5 most powerful Darksiders in History that list would definitely include some Dark Jedi like Darth Caedus and Darth Kyrat both comparable to Grandmaster Luke Skywalker
weren’t they both sith tho?
@@youngmoneyclutch Kyrat isn't a sith he is a pretender
@@youngmoneyclutch Their both Dark Jedi because they where once Jedi that turned to the Dark Side unlike Naga Sadow Darth Sidious Darth Pleaguis etc who are Sith because they where never Jedi
Note: Their is a debate at to what a Dark Jedi is is it a Dark Sider who was once a Jedi or a Dark Sider who operates outside the Sith Code like other Dark Side orders besides the Sith
@@princemaxatronous8881 so by that logic are you saying that vader wasn’t a sith?
This is the first time I have heard of dark Jedi. I think I would prefer light or grey Jedi myself.Darker than a grey Jedi would just be too mean for my liking too.
Sith: Uh oh, here comes Derek the Dark Jedi, he has his name tag again to show that he stands out.... 🙄
Derek the Dark Jedi: AYO WHAT'S UP EVERYONE 😃
Sith: Urgh, Derek is so annoying 🤦🏽♂️
Id reject both jedi and sith philosophy. Id seek power and knowledge for powers and knowledges sake. Exploring the unknown regions and wild space for deeper mysteries. I see no reason why I would ever join either faction just be locked in some metaphorical cage to their whims and failings, dieing in some petty war between the two.
I would love more dark jedi, grey jedi or gray jedi. Or better yet one that uses both but stays within the force. Besting light and dark. Knowing that the force is neither but all. Some actual balance of both. Bringing true peace to the galaxy. For a time till human greed takes its mantle and starts it all over again. Cause humans are a species with amnesia.
Jedi is an order. If you leave that order for the dark side you are no longer a member of that order. You are a darkside user, there is no such thing as a dark jedi.
Red lightsabers don’t mean that someone is a dark side user or a Sith. Plenty of actual Jedi have used red, crimson, or scarlet lightsabers
Sith lords have more fun unlocking and discovering all secrets on how to be a masterful skilled Sith Lord.
It’s best to just be Gray
I believe that being on one side or the other is an inbalance in itself and does creates an imbalance in any Force user that always causes problems.
Maul not a Darth he was lied to by king plagues grand plan Darth is king boss leader it lord dooku lord maul lord Vader king Darth lord dark plagues the wise
Would Starkiller count as a Dark Jedi?
Yes.
To be fair, Sith hate everything and everyone, including themselves.
so basically Sith is Lawful evil, and Dark Jedi are Chaotic Evil
I'd say Dark Jedi is more Neutral Evil, but sure some would be Chaotic I guess.
Ironically some Sith do fall into Chaotic Evil territory.
At least the word HATE is used appropriately in this case.
Always considered Dooku a Dark Jedi, with all that has been canon at least up till he killed Yaddle
Questionable: killing Yaddle. Doesn't make sense.
If they speak of a "dark side"; they are a dark jedi. If they speak of a "light side"; they are a light sith.
Sounds like most of us would side with dark Jedi. We don't hold the values of the sith, but sometimes you just have to choke out a nerf herder.
I want a show about old galaxy Star Wars, like Jedi sentinels, sith, mandalor
I used to love hunting Dark Jedi Knights and Masters during the pre-cu years of Star Wars Galaxies because they dropped close to perfect damage crystals and 25+ clothing and armor attachments. Uggh now i real feel old. 🤔🤔
The Sith HATE everything, including eachother, and occasionally even themselves.
So... Dark Jedi are just Sith that would never kill a room full of Younglings. Got it.
partly I guess I mean the dark is in it for themselves like the video said they are not necessarily trying to hurt anyone nor have any prejudices with regards to the force
The Dark Jedi and Grey Jefi are the true balanced ones of the force, not some Luke Skywalker and family! The Sith and Jedi storyline is played out have been for a while now there are other Force using organizations that are more interesting than both the Jedi and Sith to include the DJ and GJ. There is so much more lore beyond the overhyped Skywalker family and friends that can be explored but due to lack of vision and creativity the status quo is what we got stuck with
Mual didn’t know he was a assassin he lied by grand plan of king lord plagues plan lord Vader father lives u missing point hear me
Thanks fork for the in put
I think it may be like the difference between a Dark Elf and a Drow.
ur level of RP and nerdery pleases me
@.32 your explanation of dark jedi seems to assume they have allegiance to the jeci and had jedi training.
Not to mention that the Sith of today exist because Dark Jedi Exiles from the Civil War had come to Korriban back when they were still primitives and had interracial relationships with them. Which created the Sith Lords as we know them today. And eventually made the Sith into a religious order.
This should be a tv show.
