thanks for sharing your learning process, wish you the best! for rosin or asphalt waxes, get a heat gun, 300 C on low, its melts the wax totally and you will have great control, you wont damage your stones
Black Wax (High Temp) is your friend. Toss the Epoxy and CA Glue and get some Black Wax from Kingsley North. Once you go Black you'll never go back. And you will likely never have another stone fall off .. unless you really bang it on something. :) Another advantage of Black Wax is there is No Waiting Time for anything to cure. As soon as it is cool enough to grab the dop, it's ready to go, even after a transfer.
I think I need a tutorial for dopping faceted stones with black wax. I just can't seem to get the gem hot enough (showcased in this video) and I'm terrified of putting it under open flame or a heat plate. I have a few years experience with stones in lapidary and green wax, but not with dopping delicate crystals in faceting with wax. Do you have any tips?
Thank you! I was heating it under a flame off camera. The issue that arises with crystals that is often different than with stones (depending on the crystal and stone) is crystals typically burst under open flame. I heated it for as long as I could bare, but couldn't bring myself to heat it any further for fear I was going to shatter it
Very great work! Love seeing the process and how you included the mistakes 😊
Thank you so much! 🙏

or in your case @Crystal Quarry, since its small work, an air soldering pen for soldering electronics, would work great!
@@EruannaArte That's a really good idea! Thank you so much, and thank you for your interest!

The stone needs to be heat up a bit so the wax can stick to it
