🇨🇦 love the ICW ~ Our parents took us 4 kids out of school & travelled from Toronto to the Bahamas on an Atlantic Clipper 41 in 1977 (I turned 16 that year). Great video!

Another great video I don't mind when you guys were traveling up that river it is like a sheet of glass, it was so serene and then with that music it was just perfect so relaxing so beautiful almost felt like I was on the boat with you all. I can get rather testy as well when I'm hot and sweating get sticky and then what we call good ole Swamp Ass, then not being able to get you a shower or have AC Yes that would be a bit challenging for me as well. The good way to pull off is to take a shirt Make it wet and put it on you actually I had just done laundry last night before my husband had to go to work and I had some of his work shirts hung up to put out on the clothesline to dry, he said I almost feel like taking my shirt off and putting on the wet one. Sure enough that's what he did. Here in Arizona 9pm at night it was still 99 degrees outside. Don't be so hard on yourselves anyone could get cranky with the conditions you both have been dealing with not to forget the anchor. Just take a breath it will pass. As😊 always stay safe and God bless 🙏
It turns out we are all human, which means when we get hungry, tired, uncomfortable we just become a little bit less of ourselves and get a little more crabby 🙂 Serene is the perfect word to describe just moving along glassy water on a very calm day. Just listening to the nature and looking at the world around you as you slowly move by. Hope you can stay cool in that Arizona heat, seems to brutal! Thank you so much for being here with us Kris! when your sailing /cruising a small pair of binoculers would come in handy so you dont have to be out in the sun so much but under the bimini .just a thought.
We do have some! We just have to be a bit careful because being so zoomed in often gets us feeling pretty queasy depending on the conditions. They come in super clutch though in seeing stuff far away and the ones we have are pretty basic. I think around 120 dollars off amazon or something similar. A must have on any sailing vessel though! I've seen other channels talk about how they motor back a little with the hook dangling just under the water to wash all the mud off, before pulling it in the last bit.
That is a good idea! We usually let it hang down for a while in order to let the mud wash off as we go. Helps for the anchor, but the chain often also pulls up the mud and gets it all over the deck. Just another thing to clean 😊 Thank you for watching! ⛵🎉

Hey hey good to see you guys enjoying some much less squally waters!! (Jealous of your sauna though as UK weather never really gets up beyond 25c or so in summer (although we are experiencing a couple of days of 32c before they break to storms)). Just curious - but what's ICW? Don't know if I've missed you tell us what this stands for in earlier videos but I don't know (don't forget that not all of your viewers are local to the areas of the States so don't have that familiarity with these things lol) And I don't know if you've seen this at all yourselves from content you watch - but with regards catching the drone I've seen a couple of channels gaffer tape a wooden stick to the base of the drone so you catch the stick and not the drone. Less likely to damage fingers then 😉Apparently some drones use a bottom based group of sensors so if there's stuff underneath the drone then this would obviously affect that - but I guess you have to make that judgement call between easy to catch or loss of certain drone functions (if that's even a thing for your particular drone). If you're after a helpful video the Sailing Cadoha covered it in one of their very earliest videos from about 4 years ago (their 15th video if you put their content in date order). But other than that - Michaela I hope you quickly recover from your sunburn! Patrick - keep up the excellent work on the maintenance! Lovely to see you both as always and I'm already looking forward to next Sunday's video 😎
Ha, always want what you can't have, when it is too cold you just want the heat, when it is too hot you just want the cold 😊 Humans certainly are funny that way! Sorry that we didn't explain it better! The ICW is the Inter-coastal Waterway, which is basically a 3000 mile loop that runs inside of the coast from the Atlantic coast through the Gulf Coast of the US, allowing for sailors to take an inside route and stay out of the ocean. Some of the waterways are just natural sounds and rivers, and some of them are artificially built canals that are up kept by the government. It is a very cool project and very helpful for getting around! Will have to look into some tips and tricks for the drone catching! Seems like there are a lot of options available, but recently we have just been slowing the boat down more which makes it a little safer and easier to catch lol. It doesn't help that for many of us we're often born into countries which have a climate we disagree with - as a species we don't make it that easy to move from one country to another - there's always hoops to jump through. No worries about the explanation for the ICW. I just hadn't heard of it before. Obviously for you guys (plus many of your US-based audience) it'll seem blindingly obvious as to what it is. For some others of us who haven't been to the States and so are less familiar with the geography then it's less obvious is all. Up to you both as to whatever process you find that works best for you with catching the drone. I just don't want to see anyone lose any fingers thank you very much 😉😂 Always happy to be here. It keeps the algorithm happy and I enjoy watching your adventures!

Sorry that we didn't explain it better! The ICW is the Inter-coastal Waterway, which is basically a 3000 mile loop that runs inside of the coast from the Atlantic coast through the Gulf Coast of the US, allowing for sailors to take an inside route and stay out of the ocean. Some of the waterways are just natural sounds and rivers, and some of them are artificially built canals that are up kept by the government. It is a very cool project and very helpful for getting around!
Will have to look into some tips and tricks for the drone catching! Seems like there are a lot of options available, but recently we have just been slowing the boat down more which makes it a little safer and easier to catch lol. Will have to see what works best 😊

@@patrickandmichaela agreed about the weather. It doesn't help that for many of us we're often born into countries which have a climate we disagree with - as a species we don't make it that easy to move from one country to another - there's always hoops to jump through.
No worries about the explanation for the ICW. I just hadn't heard of it before. Obviously for you guys (plus many of your US-based audience) it'll seem blindingly obvious as to what it is. For some others of us who haven't been to the States and so are less familiar with the geography then it's less obvious is all.
Up to you both as to whatever process you find that works best for you with catching the drone. I just don't want to see anyone lose any fingers thank you very much 😉😂
