Growing up in San Francisco as a Giants fan, Eric Davis was my all time favorite player. Even though he was past his prime I still enjoyed watching him when he finally came to the giants.
Was one of my favorite players back in the day. He was one of the most talented players ive seen. I remember his injury in the world series when i was a kid like yesterdAy. Diving for a ball he ended up landing awkwardly suffering kidney and hip issues from. He was never the same after that sadley. Hd coulda been one of the goats
😅I liked him but was sad to hear he trashed Ray Miller after taking over as manager in 98. That was very suprsing but apperently is something he done before. I liked watching him play. Recall when the Orioles had 24 on their hekmets during his cancer battle, and then got chemo, and playedin the Division Series and AlCS that night on couple occasions in 1997 v. Cle. And NY.
Eric was an all world talent and was on his way to HOF until injuries derailed his career. He was so much fun to watch and very explosive player with his power and speed.
Yes. He is. Always SO nice to everyone. Met him three times, first 2 up close, and the third time I feel like he mentioned on the field that I was the funny guy. I was amazed he remembered our conversation where he said I was funny from 3 yrs prior. He's a sweet man and was a LEGEND on the field.
DAVIS IS HILARIOUS!!! Always a great guy. The most talented player ever - proof? NO player in history had 25+HR and 80SB before 1986 and no player had 35+HR and 50SB before 1987 - amazing! Imagine no injuries to his frame? another 200+HR/SB. And JOEY VOTTO at the end is awesome!!!!!!!!
I am! Why doesnt the host know more about cards? Never seen a gold winner card b4? They are not rare inserts! I got that and the 93 topps Micro sets all still sealed!
I'm 4 years late but man....Eric Davis is my favorite player of all time. My walls were covered in his posters and I still have all of his cards. And Topps STILL makes Eric Davis cards almost every year. So. Cool. I had the Reds Starter jacket I wore ALL. The. Time. in Orlando. I went to an Astros/Dodgers spring training game and I got Eric to sign it. I about cried. Someone stole it from me....
Eric Davis's 1987 season is the greatest in history. He hit 37 home runs and stole 50 stolen bases in 129 games. I've written Bill James to try to get him to change the formula for sabermetrics and algorithms, because that production in 129 games should be worth at least 10 WAR alone -- before any other statistics are factored in. He really needs to increase WAR for award winnings as well.
Eric Davis, my favorite player growing up by far. Would've been great to see how his career could've played out if he stayed healthy. Still -- this stat blows me away: From June '86 to July '87 (162 games), he hit .308 with 47 HRs, 123 RBIs and 98 stolen bases. That's never, ever been done and will never again. ruclips.net/video/Pjthf71nF1E/видео.html
Eric Davis should do a web show or something. Dude looks at ease in front of the camera and he’s got stories for days! His personality, sense of humor, and his delivery were superb in this and I’d subscribe to something like that in a heartbeat.
I Met Eric Davis back in the mid 90s at a Deion Sanders basketball event in Miami at the Golden Panther Arena at FIU, and I went up to him to get his autograph, and for some odd reason I said "Otis" instead of "ERIC." Mind you I knew exactly who Eric was, and I was a big fan, and I went up to him knowing it was Eric but I made a verbal slip. He was like "Naw kid I'm not Otis..." and walked away! I SAID "OMG Mr Davis I'm sorry I don't know why I said Otis.." Eric got mad, and kept walking away... I goofed cause Otis Nixon was at the event and I had just ran into him. My one story with Eric but he was a great player, and a shame he got hurt when he did I loved watching him play. Watching him I thought he was going to be like Ken Griffey Jr when his career ended up but his injuries really set him back a lot.
Arguably the most talented baseball player who ever lived. Those very brief moments when he was healthy (never truly healthy for even one full season) he would put up video game numbers in batting average, homeruns and steals for those weeks or months. A healthy Eric Davis - even his buddy Strawberry, pre-roids early S.F. Bonds or Griffey could not touch him. When you watched him during those very fleeting moments when his body was fully healthy, he really was a better Willie Mays. Eric Davis and Pete Reiser - arguably the 2 most talented ballplayers ever - and the casual fan nowadays has no clue who either of these guys are.
Excellent analysis, I remember how supremely talented he was. One of the reasons he was always injured was his all out style of play, running into walls and things of that nature.
davis was the greatest player i ever seen live...and i seen bench rose griffey jr larkin votto etc...if he coulda stayed healthy no doubt hall of famer...
Eric Davis didn't look to happy until he told him the story that he signed an autograph for him as a kid then his big kool aid smile came out. Eric always looked angry and scary to me but hes got such a nice smile.
Instead of trading (I do understand the significance of the act for the show) they should treat the pack as their team and debate whose team would beat who
Did he try for a Ray Knight to commemorate when Knight absolutely clocked him in a brawl? Probably the most professional boxer looking punch I've ever seen thrown by a non-professional boxer.
When did Tony Gwynn ever steal a Batting title from Eric Davis.? I think Davis’ highest batting avg was .327 and he was in the AL at the time. Lies!!!!
I was just checking on that. He was 4th in the AL in 98 and it was the only time he had a higher season average than Gwynn. I think ED's memory is failing.
Davis is my all time favorite player, but I have no idea what he is talking about when he says Gwynn barely beat him for a batting title. In 1998 Davis hit .327, his highest average by far and that was only good for 8th place that season.
Mike Oz needs to stop being so awkward. "Tell everybody who it is!" Davis already said TG and we saw a picture of the card. Stop telling players what to do.
Growing up in San Francisco as a Giants fan, Eric Davis was my all time favorite player. Even though he was past his prime I still enjoyed watching him when he finally came to the giants.
Davis still looks fit as a fiddle. Props to him. What a great talent and a five tool player.
Eric was a baller, one of my favorites. I remember his comback with the o's and pulling that card from si
Absolutely awesome! Davis was and is my favorite player of all time!
StratTone same here, I used to wave a Davis pennant at every Pirates Game even if the Reds weren’t there lol.
😅I liked him but was sad to hear he trashed Ray Miller after taking over as manager in 98. That was very suprsing but apperently is something he done before. I liked watching him play. Eric Davis was my favorite player as a kid. Possibly the strangest batting stance ever. He stood almost straight up and held the bat below his waist.
I'd try to bat just like him
“Cut me a check!”😂🤣 ED is a real one. Great player too
Haha imagine a conversation between Ricky and Eric Davis lol
need subtitles
@Marvin Santana
Yeah, he was pretty easy to understand.
Loved this episode! ED was such a stud and loved his breakdown of players! Could listen to his stories all day!
Eric Davis!! My man. A big part of the 1990 reds team. Much love.
“How you got all these Hall of Famers in this pack and THIS dude gets a gold card?” I was on the floor laughing when Davis said that, LOL
Eric was an all world talent and was on his way to HOF until injuries derailed his career. He was so much fun to watch and very explosive player with his power and speed.
Eric Davis first World Series at-bat. Hits a homerun off of Dave Stewart. Incredible ⚾️
Is eric davis the nicest guy in baseball or what. The guy was a legend. I loved watchin him do his thing.
Always will remember him cutting down Bonilla at third on a perfect throw during the 1990 NLCS.
Yes. He is. Always SO nice to everyone. Met him three times, first 2 up close, and the third time I feel like he mentioned on the field that I was the funny guy. I was amazed he remembered our conversation where he said I was funny from 3 yrs prior. He's a sweet man and was a LEGEND on the field.

Great episode! ED is quite the personality, and had a story for almost every guy in the packs.
One of my favorites. He could do it all. Some of the quickest hands I have ever seen. He had that very relaxed batting stance until he unloaded.
Representing South Los Angeles
Every card collector should be watching these videos 😁👍🏼
I am! Why doesnt the host know more about cards? Never seen a gold winner card b4? They are not rare inserts! I got that and the 93 topps Micro sets all still sealed!
I just read Eric Davis' book. I have a few of his cards!

Tony Gwynn pretty much stole a batting title from everyone in America back in the day haha
Paul Swiatek I met Tony a few times here in San Diego. Great guy. Really great guy.
Eric was my favorite player back in the day. When he was da shizzz.
Davis is 1 of the most underrated players of all time, Was 1 of my 3 favorite players with Dale Murphy and Fred McGriff, The good ole days
STUNNING STAT ---->>> June '86 to July '87 (162 games), Davis hit .308 with 47 HRs, 123 RBIs and 98 Steals!!! WHAT?!!? NO ONE MATCHES THAT!
I loved Eric Davis open bat stace. I would imitate it alot. Always wanted him to come to The Astros and play with Glenn Davis.
Eric Davis is the man.
Last Cincinnati Red to hit for the cycle!
ERIC THE RED!!!
"Eric the Red" great ballplayer !

1986 Eric Davis, best micro league baseball season ever,
Went to Chabot Junior College with Darin Lewis. First time we were on the field together, I said to myself, "This is what a Major Leaguer looks like."
Fond memories of ED back in the day. That hitch, and leg kick...when he got ahold of one.. look out!!
Yeah he was pretty good, he'd fit in just fine in today's league. Speed and power.
And amazing patrol of the outfield!
I've always wondered about Eric Davis. Nice to see he's a cool dude....
ED had an amazingly fast bat...he was a stud!
Eric Davis should do a web show or something. Dude looks at ease in front of the camera and he’s got stories for days! His personality, sense of humor, and his delivery were superb in this and I’d subscribe to something like that in a heartbeat.
My two favorite Reds around 6:45 just give him a couple seconds to step into view LOL!!! Both have tons of personality and great hitters!
Was hoping ED would get a Ray Knight card just to hear what he had to say about that fight they had back in the day!
ray knight was retired before 1992....but i hear ya
Ray knight later managed Eric Davis
“Is that Rickie Vaughn in there?”

And even when healthy only made TWO All-Star teams....WTF
davis was the greatest player i ever seen live...and i seen bench rose griffey jr larkin votto etc...if he coulda stayed healthy no doubt hall of famer...
Yeah, when he was at the top of his game, just about as good as it gets
E.D. opening some fire!!!
Nolan Ryan sent me an autograph. Didn't think about sending him my card...
85 Eric Davis cards are so cool. He had milk behind his ears. Lol. Never heard that. Thanks Mr. Davis great video.
Love how Davis said ehhhh he Ight to Reggie sanders card 😂😂😂
Votto bombin' em. He knows it.
When Eric Davis got hot, nobody hit better.
Eric Davis didn't look to happy until he told him the story that he signed an autograph for him as a kid then his big kool aid smile came out. Eric always looked angry and scary to me but hes got such a nice smile.
Y - he's fun with that scary look
Instead of trading (I do understand the significance of the act for the show) they should treat the pack as their team and debate whose team would beat who
Love it!
ERIC - lookin' good in the red...
Kenny Lofton had a career WAR of 68.4 and is on the borderline of Hall of Fame qualification. As of the middle of 2023 he's not in yet.
Did he try for a Ray Knight to commemorate when Knight absolutely clocked him in a brawl? Probably the most professional boxer looking punch I've ever seen thrown by a non-professional boxer.
Votto in the background at the end. 😀
I wish he would have pulled a Ray Knight. "That's the guy that beat me up"
I wish I could meet my own grandmother's cousin Eric davis
True story: I have a ball Geronimo Pena hit a grand slam with in 1989 with the Arkansas Travelers
theedgeinshow Did you have it appraised? /
Appraised?! Bahahahaha!
3 more HR in 1987 and he woulda been 40/50 club.
All that Canseco hype in 1988 about 40/40 club would have been nonexistent
Go away Votto we are trying to film here.
ED 44 !!!!
Shoulda been the first 40/40 man, woulda been except 4 injury

I think E Davis was one of the few 5-tool players in the league at the time.
Mike Oz needs to stop being so awkward. "Tell everybody who it is!" Davis already said TG and we saw a picture of the card. Stop telling players what to do.
Wait, Kenny was an Astro?
E.D.!!
He does not look much different than he did in his playing days.
love eric davis, but the dude was always injured. never played more than 135 games in a season
Artificial turf back then killed a lot players career.
Eric Davis...Please take those awful earrings out of your ears. Terrible look.
