I love Mary Tyler Moore. It's a treat to see her in a serious role. So much talent and beauty...I only wish she'd had more parts, in films and series like this one. RIP MTM
🌹🥰😘💕🌹
@miapdx503. I was wondering if that was Mary Tyler because that's a beautiful shot and she's beautiful in this shot but she's beautiful period I'm an black American and I never appreciated older movies and television shows and black and white but one day I watched a black and white movie and the women and men were gorgeous and the style s and gloves and hats the woman wore plus they shined with quality acting you could really see through the movie that these individuals possessed a strong persona and aura and many of the themes were very very gritty but done with style and class I liked the styles and clothes they wore and just in general they had better movie making skills and better writing with out all the CGI plus they made very very very interesting movies back then and interesting is what is lacking in the entertainment industry today there's a lot of CGi and sex but nothing thats interesting
what do you mean? in The Dick Van Dyke Show, (which by the way, that series would begin in fall of the year this episode was aired-'62) she seemed seriously mad at Rob, atleast a third of the time. (lol)

They tell a good story without all the sensationalism in today's "entertainment". Well written, well cast.

I wouldn't be born for three more months and ten days. when this aired, but my mom loved these. Must be where I get my enjoyment from.
Happy Birthday John! We're only a few days apart!
I was one and a half months
You and I are only a couple months apart in age. I wouldn't be born for 2 months and 26 days when this aired. And we're both Cancers, too.
😅 5 months & 6 days for me! Funny thing, we're all here watching the best days of TV!! Love black and whites! Quality acting, no foul language, no nudity, no blood. Just great TV!!

You're just 2 weeks older than me. Our little group should start a club. The July Club.
This is what I call action and suspense to the very end!! These were good ole classic flicks with class!

"I'll tell the jokes huh.." 🤣🤣🤣 Classic.
Wow, not just the stars, but the "bit" players! Chock full of quality character actors. Boris Karloff created a great series and the best actors wanted to work with him.
from what I understand, Alfred Hitchcock was none to happy about this show... not sure why, I guess he felt they were copying him...but isn't imitation the greatest form of flatterly?
Love this series. So original and creative.
PS
It's not money that's the root of all evil. It's the LOVE OF MONEY. 1 Timothy 6:10
Same difference.
Really. Who cares.
I think the bankers added that....its money dude.
the lack of enough money is the root of all evil
@@nedludd7622 not really. Money is just a commodity , a physical thing that everyone has to do things with. It's greed and avarice the love of it and what wrongs can be done with massive amounts of money that is the root of.
Fantastic suspense movie.Mary Tyler Moore was a very attractive actress, with great acting talent and had a lovely singing voice. Great twist in the end.
Thanks for watching!
Wonderful Walter Burke, a respected character player who has graced so many films, noir, series dramatic tv and later motion pictures. He worked all the time. Those of us who love character actors, he is always a bright spot in any presentation..Here, he has almost no dialogue, yet still manages to convey cool, silent menace...watch till the end - the twist is quite a delight!!
Love your comment Cynthia 👍

Written by Robert Bloch, who wrote “Psycho” and many episodes of Thriller. Directed by John Newland of “One Step Beyond”. Great combo.
I totally agree 👍
Thanks so much for the information!😊
They both also contributed in a episode of the short lived 1961 television series "Bus Stop" (I kiss your Shadow) with Joanne Linville, George Grizzard and Alfred Ryder ... what a great episode , Both Robert Bloch and John Newland were one of the best if not the best 👍👍

Back when “good television” meant something! 😊
Yes
Every single episode, is so uniquely wonderful! ~ It's so good, that I'm already mourning the day, when I've seen them all....😭😭😭 😁
"The Alfred Hitchcock Hour" was pretty cool too , three episodes that come to mind are "The Jar" , "The Sign of Satan" and "The Monkey's Paw : A Retelling" , not like "Thriller" but pretty good though 👍👍
No mourning necessary. Just start them all over again! You'll still love them and find little nuances that you missed before. Enjoy!
I was 15 yo when this aired, who would
think that Mary Tyler Moore, who used to
do the hotpoint commercials, would later
on have her own TV series. So many
actors that would become big stars appeared on Thriller, Twilight Zone,
Alfred Hitchcock, just to name a few.
Just great programs on TV 📺 back
then.
What a great movie I did not see the ending coming❤
Absolutely awesome. Great plot.
One of the best Thriller series! Excellent acting by skilled professionals, I might have to watch it again to get the full effect,

I enjoyed this thriller especially, with Mary Tyler Moore,Thank-you
Probably the most ill-quoted passage from Sacred Scripture is: “Money is the root of all evil”, as Karloff states here. The true passage is: “ The LOVE of money is the root of all evil”. (Money itself is neither good nor bad).
He was a well-read man. I'm sure he was aware but relied on the ignorance of the audience in order to push the narrative..
I'm really enjoying the shows but a person should never under any circumstance misquote the Bible in order to push an agenda.
It is just words.
Who cares? REALLY?
Sacred to who? Only you. Get over it.

All of these episodes are amazing! It's The LOVE of money that's the root of all evil. Not the money itself.

What a character acter William Burke was
Wow it got me right there at the end, BIG plot twist.
How much of this going on right now with politicians and celebs? Great episode.
one of the best of the series right here
$40 million in 1962 would be worth almost $396 million today. I’ll take either. But what a twisted, sweet and corny last remark by Karloff at the end. In all the time l watched “Murder She Wrote”l never realized the Cabot Cove doc was William Windom. And anything written by Robert Bloch is creepy genius
"$40 million in 1962 would be worth almost $396 million today." Much more, judging by the raise in cost of living, not inflation!
@@internetcensure5849 l just got that figure from Inet research. It’s a rough figure no doubt. But the impact of inflation depends on region, location, assets, other factors
One of the better episodes .
The most intriguing of all these thriller series
Robert Bloch wrote this episode especially to feature the great (and under-rated) Walter Burke; who would have ever imagined Walter getting a LOVE SCENE with Mary Tyler Moore?! Mr. Burke's odd physical build automatically relegated him to playing imps, gimps, assorted bystanders and quirky, misfit oddballs. But he was one hell of an actor (catch him in the episode of Ben Casey "The Fireman Who Raised Rabbits"; his big scene comes late in the show [he plays a famous lawyer who is hospitalized]. Or watch him in Twilight Zone's "The Big Tall Wish", where he barely says a word, yet totally dominates his scenes with his superb screen presence. I once read an interview where he related his greatest disappointment was not being cast as Michelangelo in the 1965 historical drama "The Agony and the Ecstasy." He did a thorough study of the artist who (like Walter himself), was a small, dwarf-like guy, and figured he'd be perfect for the role. Of course, it NEVER would have happened in Hollywood; Charlton Heston got the call, to star opposite Rex Harrison. But THAT would have been amazing...to see Walter Burke in a major role in a major picture. Instead, he gets a walk-on (with Rex Harrison) in "My Fair Lady" as the guy who alerts Eliza that she's being watched by Henry Higgins in the opening scene. But even in small roles, Burke delivers a totally professional performance,. LR
Like always ... your comments impress me 😊 👍👍
There were so many great character actors in that era and Walter Burke was up there with the best! Thanks for your great comment!
Thank you so much for this information. I'm going to watch more of Walter Burke now.
Thanks. Just trying to give these great shows and their actors (and their legacy) the recognition they deserve. LR @@rafaelramirez1507

Easy to see how Mary went on to be such a star.🌟
Theses thrillers are good considering these were done in the sixties.
Love these, thx
Thoroughly enjoying these!😘
Awesome! Thank you!
Another major Walter Burke sighting: check Gunsmoke's Season 10 "Circus Trick", where Walter plays ELKO, the flamboyant, eloquent (and very small) owner and ringmaster of a travelling circus that comes to Dodge. Nice concept that quickly becomes bogged down by its plot and direction. But Walter REALLY livens up every scene he's in, especially the circus performance itself, which drags terribly and desperately needed some background music. But Mr. Burke, with his dazzling theatrical instincts, makes the best of it.
Walter has a big scene with Matt Dillon at the end...the kind of sensitive, low-key, subtle thing he did so well. Unfortunately, it's shot almost entirely as a SIDE view, but at least it's a close-up, and nicely lit (the music editors used Herrmann's Twilight Zone "Walking Distance" for this speech).
And who could forget Walter Burke as the servant GARNA in "Jack the Giant Killer", another standout performance...despite the fact that he's usually sharing the screen with giants, dancing dolls, witches, mechanical knights, etc etc? Still, he holds his own! LR
🤷🏾♀️🏃🏾♀️. Ok. When you have nothing else to do, Really good!👏🏿♥️

Wow...that was weird...
The younger Dr Seth Hazlett from Cabot Cove as a nightclub performer.
I guess Boris gave alot stars a start
Mary Tyler Moore was hot in the 60s
That was a wierd story😮
C R E E.....P Y!!!!!! Remember Lucas from Jack the Giant killer!
Back when America was America and TV was for entertainment - NOT for dispensing pro "diversity" propaganda!
And so...The beat goes on.
nifty little plot - predictable - but it still surprised me at how it played out - good acting all around - Mary Tyler Moore was an excellent dramatic actress - too bad she got typecast by the Dick Van Dyke show - here she is is teamed with another dutch named actor - John Van Dreelen - who too was typecast in his career as the slick foreigner - Walter Burke's face & physique did the same for him
I no longer own a TV (ugh) but I started to catch on to the ridiculousness of it all when I noticed as a kid how people (like the doctor) would visit a person for three-5-minutes and leave. I thought, "What?"
He leaves on his wake a trail of death.
"a forest of evil surrounding 40 million dollars". Today 40 million is chump change.
Yeah, but most of us could use some chump change lol
Money isn't the root of all evil - the LOVE of Money is - why is that always misquoted? (1Timothy 6:10) Mary Tyler Moore was so pretty.
