Seriously though, you guys should do the hometown band good. I am an Atlanta kid like you guys, born and raised They are an Atlanta original and they are a rare band too. Kinda like Tool in the way the musicians work together. Both bands are very symbiotic and are creative as hell.

My husband used to share a practice space with Bill Kelliher's side band Primate and said Bill is one of the nicest guys on the planet. Awesome to have such a great band from Atlanta to be proud of.
His name is Brann (pronounced "brawn") Dailor and he's originally from Rochester, NY. He's also a stellar musician and hilarious to boot! 🤘🔥🤘
Both Brann and Bill are from Rochester, played together in Lethargy.
My sister's boyfriend Steve was in the band for a while. We used to go to his mothers house and they called it Club Brann. Great times in the basement hearing some of Rochesters finest up and coming metal bands. I also watched my Buffalo Bills get beat 52 to 17 in the Super Bowl against Dallas at his house LOL.
I was gonna mention that Brann also does vocals, even lead vocals on many songs, similar to how you were surprised that The Rev from A7X was a singer.
To check out Brann's brilliance on the kit you need to watch/listen to "Capillarian Crest" drum cam. That is outstanding!!!

Brann is Uber talented. Similar to The Rev, Brann also sings while drumming. Mastodon is an incredible band, you can hear the jazz drumming influence style that Brann uses throughout

You guys have to watch him doing the drum clinic where he played in a drum off against Danny Carey. Also the one where he did Capillarian Crest. Blood and Thunder is a burst of energy. Some of the other ones are an absolute show stopper. One of the greats and also one of the coolest dudes out there.
Mastodon is the best metal band in the world. Would LOVE to see you guys start having one reaction day a week dedicated to Mastodon. Then you can get to know the members like you have Tool, Slipknot, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer. Their new album Hushed And Grim is the best album of 2021 and there has been some badass music this year so that is saying something. Keep up the good content boys. Happy Holidays as well!🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Just saw these guys this past sunday in Houston. Can confirm that "Blood and Thunder" will liquify your insides cause of how brutal it is.
First song of a conceptual album about Moby Dick! It's captain Ahab going crazy when he sees the white whale that took his leg and asking his sailors to fill their lungs with Blood and Thunder while they row towards doom!!!

The whole album, and this song in particular, is about Moby Dick, Ahab with his men and their quest for the white whale. Next one should be Oblivion!
You guys have to do something off of the new album Hushed and Grim… The entire album is front to back the best they have ever sounded hands down. I recommend “More than I could Chew” “The Beast” or “Gigantium” but anything is absolutely worth it!!

Remember the band Clutch that you guys reacted to? On the album version of this song, Clutch's lead singer (Neil Fallon) sings the "Split your lungs with blood and thunder" part near the end.
Brann (pronounced Brawn) and the rhythm guitarist (Bill Kelliher) are from Rochester, NY. The lead guitarist/singer Brent Hinds (face tattoo) is from Alabama and the bassist/singer Troy Sanders is from Atlanta. Their studio and most (all?) of the band live in Atlanta or around there. As far as your questions from other videos of who the lead singer is, well, Troy, Brann and Brent are, with Bill singing mostly live but did on a few tracks early in their career.

They weren’t able to use any of Hendrix’s music in the film (copyright stuff), so the music was from when Hendrix played as a hired musician for other artists (before he became JIMI HENDRIX haha). But yes Andre learned how to play the guitar parts for real so it wouldn’t look like he was just faking it. And did so left handed. It’s a good movie! I have it on dvd. A bit of controversy surrounding it but, a good movie 😊
Brann has jazz as a big influence on him so if you can hear closely you will notice how he sometimes drums as a jazz musician (feeling the tempos and times of his drumming, not following kind of the same tempos)

As a (very bad) guitar player, I can say that these guys make it look effortless. It's not. These riffs and runs are INSANE! I dare anyone to argue.

Brann is the best traditional singer in the band, he wasn't very active as a singer on this and prior albums, so not the best choice for his overall talents. However, it's still a great song to showcase his drumming.

One of the best bands ever, you guys should react to more of them, specifically crack the skye from this same show which was Roskilde 2011. Lastly Brann Dailor is a god on the drums and is also an awesome singer. Anyway good stuff fellas, the more mastodon the better, there is nobody else out there like them.

Achim Albrecht had a stage name of Brakkus , Arachnis and Argo. His signature moves were the pile driver and full Nelson. Finishers were the spine buster and powerbomb. Imagine a German Brutus Beefcake.

Achim Albrecht was a German wrestler. He mainly wrestled in dark matches. He only did a few shows and also wrestled in ECW and retired after damaging his knee.

I believe Brann is originally from upstate New York. He is however a tall dude. I met them back in April.
Just saw these guys live in Salt Lake. Went there for Opeth, came out stunned by how good Mastodon is live. Wow
The best fkn band in the universe.... TRUE STORY.
It's pronounced like brawn, which had me thrown off for awhile. Left handed guitars can be hard to get ahold of and expensive, so left handed guitarists often have to learn how to play right handed, or learn with a right handed guitar upside down. And then once they get used to using a right handed guitar the other way around, they just say fuck it and keep going that way. Kurt Cobain was also a leftie playing a right handed guitar, it's actually theorized that he probably had scoliosis which was made worse by him not choosing to play a right handed guitar in the proper position, which contributed to his heroin addicted.

From Savanah Georgia. World class weirdos. Featured the now disgraced Scott Kelly on vocals. It's a mix of High on Fire and Neurosis, the band's two biggest infuelces.
Hollywood, a lot of that "more with less" sound drummers get comes from style and how they break up their fills or grooves. I'm (social media) friends with Charlie Engen from 5FDP and he told me that a lot of his big sound comes from just breaking up simple paradiddles in different areas of his kit. Don't know if this helps you any but it's the shortest I can explain it. Also drummers of today use many different cymbals in ways drummers in the past didn't. 🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼
Sets are all about what a drummer needs what he needs for the concert. Look at Danny Carey's kit!

Mastodon is a very cool band! They're very creative with their sound. Nothing against the Rev, but Brann is a better overall musician.
You've got some hits to check with them, like Show yourself, Oblivion, Word to the wise, Motherload, to say the least...Keep it up, guys! 🤘🏽

blood and thunder is from mastodon's 2nd album, leviathan, which is a concept album about moby dick. it was the album that put mastodon on the map as one of the best metal bands.

1. This live version is probably Troy's best vocally
2. Drummer here (for the last 15+ years). I think a lot of the big kit fashion faded out when the 'less is more' thing came back in. Which is true... But I'm still a glutton for a nasty cage of a drum kit with all kinds of bells and whistles. Like.. when I was 18 or so, I loved adding new effects cymbals to my kit and playing around with where I could fit that sound.
Nowadays I prefer taking away a lot of stuff and challenge myself to see how far I can go with a minimal set up.
I love this band, Moby Dick and Leviathan is a OP album
