- Today we are going to be making a hood exit from just a downpipe. They don't make hood exits nor was I expecting to be making one. I was expecting to install a pre-fab hood exit exhaust, but here we are.

idk if i’ve ever seen a more well put together video in a shop where the guy absolutely does a hack job unintentionally
finally someone makes a video on this on how to with a downpipe.
@Blaze Vincent what do i need movies for when i have free netflix 😂
hood exits, since you pretty much delete the rest of the exhaust, make alot more power. i want to see a tune comparison between a full exhaust and hood exit. should be a significant amout of power difference. especially on an is38 or XL upgrade. pls do
id be LIVID if you made me pay for this job. exhaust wasnt flush with the hood, or cut clean, or cleaned up or anything?? not to mention the hood was a botched attempt. “didnt clean the welds up but they look good”. how tf you know??? refund this man his money rn and close up shop
I mean I’m just gonna be real, this was a pretty shoddy job. The exhaust is sticking out from the hood and the cut was pretty sloppy looking. I didn’t see any attempt at refinishing or at least sanding/polishing the bare edges either. I think that if you’d taken a marker or something and used a band saw to cut the exhaust so that it’s even with the hood, and then polished the hole. You’d have had a clean product. I can see in the customers face too, didn’t look super thrilled. He liked the sound but every time he looked at the exhaust he kind of scowled.
They took the car early, they needed a car. I'm also not a fabricator. Of course it wasn't done, only had it for a few hours.
@@JonnyBarajas any insight on if it would affect the tune, I’m stage 2 APR, would love to know if it would affect anything with the AFR’s?
@@michaelsapp6675 Definitely, air moves more freely. Although not a major deviation if you are catless already.
@@JonnyBarajas hey man, do you know by any chance what brand down pipe is this ?
I agree i hope he only had to pay u for half the job cuz u did a half ass effort. Those welds are straight horrible…..n I get it not exactly laying a straight line of beads but even the look of it after u were done why do the tear drop the opposite direction of the hugest point in the hood….completely dropped the ball on this I mean if u would have done the tear drop the highest point on the hood it would have possible made at lost look somewhat clean and thought thru. And by u saying u only had a mig welder well than im sure Didn’t have the proper tools to cut the hood exit cleanly….so why even do this job?? Did u at least have him come back and finish it for him sheesh
Perfect video on how to fuck up a good car 👍
the tear drop was facing the wrong way
damn vw,s with there hoodexits
Why would you have the tear drop facing the front of the car now all the air will go in 👍👍
I’m sure the owner was pissed when he saw that shit
can i flip my down pipe on my mk6 and do the same process
So from my knowledge there should be 2 O2 sensors the only way you can eliminate one is with a stage 2 upgrade the question is did it have the stage 2 if not which O2 did you use the upstream or the downstream? I’m trying to do a hood dump with my jetta right now and I’m wondering I don’t have a stage 2 so I can’t eliminate the O2 and I know I have to use both or maybe I don’t? I’m not sure I need help on that which do I use
Eliminate downstream, thats used for monitoring cats, primary is for 02 monitoring
At 7:11 inside the exhaust there are quite a few pin holes not sure if anyone notice
😎💪
I mean it’s coo but the cut was shoddy.. hate the sound too.. reminds of an exhaust leak I had once hated it
good on him , but I bet he gets more ideas as to improve the sound . would mixing the size of the pipe change the note of any exhaust?
Only slightly, the shape, resonators, material, and engine upgrades will do more for sound note and tone changes, than size.
I thought it would pop more
Keeping that bung where you had it originally would not have worked at all. Your o2 would be getting to much fresh air and honestly probably trigger a false “knock” because of how loud it would be.
Sounds like a tractor lol
fr lmao
Late to the party. I did my hood exit like 2-3 years ago and I'm still running it. Mk6 k04 fbo stratified e30. I have a few videos on my channel.
this could be a dumb question, but im new to the car community, and I also have an mk6 jetta, if thats what your talking about. But would I need to tune my car to run a hood exit if I'd keep the 02 sensor?
@@colby5377 Not necessarily, you'll get a CEL for cats not being in recognized by the downstream 02
How do you keep people from dumping shit into it?
@@k9xwarfar335 never had that issue. And if I did. Well it wouldn't be a good time for anyone involved.
How did you keep water from getting into it? You just cover it or what?
Lmao
No thank you 🤦🏻♂️
Ruined car, feel bad for people that have to live near this
Okay karen
@@skylersarvis7741 How original
Hey man, do you have Instagram or Facebook by chance? I have a few questions about the car.
