It is very difficult to explain to young people just how revolutionary this music was at the time. Our parents fought us really hard over embracing Rock & Roll but the power of the Eddie Cochrans, Wanda Jacksons, Bill Haleys, Gene Vincents, the Elvis's on and on was just to great. Oh and I remember the announcement of Patsy Cline's death the same way I remember JFK's and RFK's. It is still very popular because it takes everyone back to a much simpler time.
I saw him perform live in London. The guy was no poser. The only known movie clips of Eddie don't do him any justice. He was an awesome performer and a brilliant musician. He certainly will never be forgotten in my house.
Another great that we lost too soon. With all due respect to Elvis, Eddie Cochran was the coolest thing goin'. You can almost feel the joy come through the monitor. At that moment, with that self-assured smile, it looked like Eddie knew he had the right stuff; and was having the time of his life. And that sailor in the audience looked like he was in dire need of a laxative.
Awesome. I always think that if Eddie and Buddy Holly had lived, they would have contributed even more energy and innovation to the music of the Sixties.
Sorry My Friend, The Rock and Roll is the Best ... Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Halley, Eddie, Fast Dominó, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Budy Holly, ... etc. ALL, THE DREAM ´S TEMA OF THE ROCK AND ROLL
It's amazing that there is an actual live show of his to show what he really as like. I think what scared adults in the 50's about rock n roll what not just the music but the way people like Elvis and Cochran moved on stage.
rock n roll, rockabilly?call it what you like. fact is,this is a man experimenting at the beginning of rock, and yet,for all the changes, and titles of music, its NEVER got better than this! pure brilliant genius
What a performance and what a track!! This is live folks!! Eddie Cochran was/is the real deal. A total Legend with a capital L. Just imagine if he was still alive now....a man of his talent would have made incredible record after record after record...I love this track and summertime blues...RIP Eddie Cochran. You sadly passed away way too young...infact it would have been great if u were around forever making great music like this...Even in this short clip his charisma and presence is so strong
At the time of his passing, he was here in the UK on tour with Gene Vincent. he had made the statement that he would no longer tour but concentrate on producing taking a similiar road to Buddy Holly, who of course he was great friends with. So if that was to be the case we will never know. However we are left with so many memories of these great artists thanks to all who post these great clips
Ta for posting. I think we can all surmise as to why he looks up to the heavens at the end of this performance. One of the true greats of music for young people - I haven't been one of those for a long time. But, as Eddie sings, 'Who Cares?'
How wonderful to see such evocative archivefootage.Iwas lucky enough to see Eddie live in 1960.His guitar playing that night was electrifing! No one had played like that before!
The most talented rocker of his era and true Father of Rock Music. Top 10 reasons why this guy is -arguably- the most underrated musician of all time: - Best guitarist of his time (hands down) - Musical pioneer - Brilliant composer and producer - He could really play guitar, bass, piano and drums - Evolved guitar technique (riffs, two strings soloing, etc) - Evolved studio recording techniques - He could play naturally any style (blues, country, jazz, classic, rock and roll, etc) - He established the basics of rock guitar - Only white guy who could actually play the blues - He died when he was only 21 years old The guy even had the time to perform in three movies. A true genius and a very nice and humble person. Even Jimi Hendrix himself considered on of his main inspirations. Respect. Nothing else to add.
never forget my dad telling me off for leaving my 'headbanger' music too loud in HIS car when i borrowed it, but yet when i got in his car i'd hear this pumping out at full volume when i turned the key lol Eddie Cochrane! what a star!
I'm with you my friend. I defy anyone to listen to this and not want to dance - great tune from the great days of r & r. RIP Eddie. What else might he have done for us if he hadn't died so young....
tremendous, and what a difference that great piano part makes - like the phenomenal effect of guitar and piano in unison at the start of elvis's "i wanna be free" - martin.
bishopaz You have good taste! I went to Elvis' house in 1971 as an escort for a lady rock writer, and I got to meet Elvis, who was a nice guy, but I didn't care for some of people around him because they where just using Elvis. Eddie is my favourite rocker of all time!
This aired exactly thirty-five years prior to my existence! Best pre-birthday gift ever! In all seriousness, I like how the piano is more prominent in this variation. It's cool to see a piece of recorded history in motion. :D
I just love listening to Rock and Roll, which influenced my life. Eddie's music has made me go to university. In the future, I will write full time, novels. I love all forms of old rock music because it captures life in a positive, or makes me think deeper about life ! There are so many stories to be told! That's how society grows!
TONE B HURT Ah, i hate everything fro mliek 1990 to now. Im 16 man. My dad luckily showed me rock n roll when I was 8 so I wasnt brain washed by todays stuff that much. I do find music even from the 1860's to be interesting, but Im in band as well so I love a lot of music.. You show appaeciativeness to things when you know how hard something is to paly or so and how much skill it was to write a peice so nice... But I would never listen to classical music on my iphone or anyith,ng just 1950s-1980s rock
No way, Eddie was a natural performer just being himself not showboating as much as Elvis, he could sing well and played the guitar like a champ.. Rest in peace Eddie, you will never be forgotten.
Eddie has been gone 48 years today. I like the way he raises is eyes to the ceiling at 1:40, Buddy must have been looking down that day, it was the day of his funeral. RIP Eddie, thanks for the music.
I just love these really tight progression old 50s songs. Come On Everybody (Key of E: 1E-4A-5B) keeps my attention, never a dull moment from beginning to end. Great song!!!
Eddie Cochran was an original Rock and Roll pioneer. He was shadowed by the greats of the 1950s such as Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Eddie might not have been as popular as Elvis or Cash but he helped pave the way for Rock and Roll just as much as they did in their time. With songs like “C’mon Everybody”, “Something Else”, and “Summertime Blues” Eddie Cochran was creating some of the greatest tunes of the 1950s. In his songs he captured the teenage frustration and desire of the 1950s
@electro5 I grew up in 1950's, and I saw Eddie perform live in1957. Eddie was way ahead of his time as he wrote from his heart that's way he loved to live life. He was a awesome performer, specially, live!!!!!
I live near Chippenham and every time I go past his memorial I always sing a bit of summertime blues to him.its just my tribute to a rock n roller.i don't think he would be to impredded with my version but its the thought that counts.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... Now this was the beginning of rock and roll. What's so great about this is they had no one to copy from. Or even just get a clue from.
Another of our great singers that we lost at such an early age. Being this good and popular, just imagine what he would have become if he was still with us.
I was fortunate to have worked with the drummer ,geno riggio of eddie’s back-up/touring band , the kelly four. Geno and i were “pals” until he passed a few years ago. One time we had him down to Our guitar shop for pizza and he brought his scrapbook and regaled us w/real life stories of traveling the US performing w/eddie. Sad how eddie went out. He deserved better.
I had this song on vinyl back in the '70's. My Dad had all of Eddie's albums, and he gave them to me to listen to. Little portable record player from the '70's... Ahh, those were the days. :)
Old Rocker.Ludlow.UK.Eddie was up there with Elvis and Buddy, wrote his own songs, brilliant on guitar, popular to day as ever.Sharon and Eddie together forever.
50's rock 'n' roll/rockabilly is alive and well, all around the world you can find dedicated clubs to the music. Eddie was one of the best, he started off as a session guitarist, before teaming up with namesake Hank Cochrane to form the Cochran bros, before embarking on a solo career. "C'mon everybody" is still an all time classic by one of the best rockers.
This is in fact the best and original version of "C´mon and i love that he use a piano in his live performances, thx to Hopseflopse and to Eddie whos now is singing with God and the angels up above, RIP eddie.
Eddie put on a show !! I saw his live act in October, 1959. Everybody stopped dancing and chanted, "We want Eddie, We want Eddie !!" They played the opening bars of "Somethin' Else" over and over, No Eddie. Then, like a cannon shot, he burst on to the stage. They worked the audience with those delay tactics. Total excitement. I was nearly crushed in the press. I got down, crawled on my hands & knees so I could breathe, then came up right at the front of the stage looking straight up at him.
He would have been 80 this year - had he lived. Hard to imagine. He was so talented, handsome and charming - would have given Elvis a good run for his money.
It is very difficult to explain to young people just how revolutionary this music was at the time. Verdade como eu gostaria de ter vivido essa época.

This is music!!! I'm 13 and I love rock n ' roll ! My Idol is Elvis Presley, I love him so❤❤ He died too young 😭 Eddie Cochran too!
a true legend of rock n roll, he lives on forever.
I saw him perform live in London. The guy was no poser. The only known movie clips of Eddie don't do him any justice. He was an awesome performer and a brilliant musician. He certainly will never be forgotten in my house.
The greatest from the 50's, Eddie Cochran. He just looks like he is having fun. This is one great rock and roll song.
Another great that we lost too soon. With all due respect to Elvis, Eddie Cochran was the coolest thing goin'. You can almost feel the joy come through the monitor. And that sailor in the audience looked like he was in dire need of a laxative.
what would this guy gone on to achieve? stand up for the amazing Eddie Cochran
Possibly recognition also as a great composer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist as well as a rock and roll singer.
Hey Paula
Mark Jones We will never know, very sad.
Awesome. I always think that if Eddie and Buddy Holly had lived, they would have contributed even more energy and innovation to the music of the Sixties.
What a fucking senseless loss...
Eddie will always be the best. Sadly not given the reconition he deserves. He will always be number 1 with me.

My favorite guy from the rock n roll era. Great composer, very innovative, so many good songs or instrumentals in such a short time...
Awesome, so great to see him in action - he's even better than I'd imagined.
What a raw, exciting live sound!!
rock n roll, rockabilly?call it what you like. fact is,this is a man experimenting at the beginning of rock, and yet,for all the changes, and titles of music, its NEVER got better than this! pure brilliant genius

My favorite Eddie Cochran tune.
This guy's music was INCREDIBLE.

Eddie is the King of rockabilly
Jeff Stinnett and the true king of rock and roll
David Berry I would have to give that honor to Buddy Holly
Jeff Stinnett carl Perkins is the king of rockabilly
Buddy Holly is the Bible of rockabilly ⚡️
MidnightVideo I agree
How wonderful to see such evocative archivefootage.Iwas lucky enough to see Eddie live in 1960.His guitar playing that night was electrifing! No one had played like that before!
too much talent to died too soon ,alot of talent left but we wont get to hear what was left in this talented young rocker

Eddie couldve really been a #1contender to stand along side Elvis, but sadly that shit driver they had ended that :(
RIP Ed.
It doesn't matter what color he is, Eddie Cochran rocks and frankly rock-n-roll never got any better than this.
Taken far too young. what a talented young man he was.
I live near Chippenham and every time I go past his memorial I always sing a bit of summertime blues to him.its just my tribute to a rock n roller.i don't think he would be to impredded with my version but its the thought that counts.

How nostalgic is this? Great singer. So sad he died so young.

So young ! so much natural talent, So cruel in the premature way he left us, So missed !!
The true king of rock and roll
He would have been 80 this year - had he lived.
Hard to imagine.
He was so talented, handsome and charming - would have given Elvis a good run for his money.
Eddie was a genius in the true sense of the word. perhaps the greatest of all time.
