It’s the Austin store! If you would like to work with me… give me a call and I can get everything taking care of for you to demo at Airstream Austin! 336-749-1828 is my cell phone!
I think there are 200-300 watt panels now that could potentially either clean that roof up a little or increase charging rates. 600 is still decent but 900-1000 would be better for these big batteries. A standard 120 15amp household connection will take 12-24 hours to fill these batteries from 25%
The Multiplus on a 15amp 120v outlet will charge at 120A an hour so much faster than 12-24 hours to top off this battery bank even from zero is right around 8hrs.
The GVWR thing pisses me off. Even without the hatch or convection from the factory, just the awnings, ours came in with under 800 lbs of payload (768 lbs). It’s ridiculous. I can’t fill all the storage they provide without going over that. When I asked Airstream what changed, they said the only difference was they “tested it” for the higher GVWR. But they will not go back and recertify the 2024s. I told our dealer I was going to be pissed if they came out with a new model with a higher GVWR a year of two later. Well looky looky. Quite honestly, this has burned me on Airstream as a company.
@@OperatorPuski And have absolutely no impact on the GVWR which should have been higher to begin with, and are already included in the weights from the factory, so should have no impact on payload since they are the probably among the most consistent weights. And apparently the GVWR could have been higher since they made apparently made no changes to the structure, they just "tested" it to a higher arbitrary rating.
Completely agree with you. I actually focus more on the GAWR (Gross Axle Weight rating). In the case of our trailer (not an airstream) the total weight when loaded for travel is 7940lbs. However 1140 of that is on my hitch, so essentially my truck is carrying that weight and I only have 6800lbs on my trailer axles. The GAWR is 8800lbs (2 x 4400lb axles) so basically even though I am well loaded, I could put in another 2000# and just be to the max for the axles. It turns out that I am also several hundred pound underweight on each of my truck axles as well. As long as my load weight distribution hitch is well set up, I can keep both my truck axles and the trailer axles all safely under their max weight and still carry a pretty hefty load as we often take trips 4 weeks and longer, and I like to carry water as we off grid a lot. Safe and happy travels....
If I would want to off grid this a lot is composting toilet worth it?
That's personal question. If you know how use it and what you're getting, yes go for. If not, I would recommend not getting it.
Nice!
Great videos. Is the TX location in Austin? I have option of buying in Austin or Airstream in Dallas.

Do you think they’ll ever make a Tradewind in the 27FB size?
Also, would Airstream let you order the Tradewind 25FB with the front bunk?
Yes, but not sure when.
