My parents purchased there airstream in 1969 when they got married. It is now 2023 and they have put a total of 2.5 million miles on it since 69. They are now full timers in it .
That is wonderful to hear. That is what me and my husband want to do in three years when we turn 60. Rent is ridiculous in California; we just moved here in Dec. 2023. I rather buy this and see the world instead! Good for them! And it is nice to know these things are built to last! 🥰
This is an amazing step towards making these units actually usable. I'd really love to see the battery / solar options on all the models in the future.
Thank you for the video. Impeccable craftsmanship inside and out. The woodwork is handsome and Airstreams smell like a newly built residential home when you walk inside compared to other RVs. Someone else mentioned auto-leveling jacks. Good idea. 😉👍
I love this! We've been Airstream owners since 2008 and full-time since 2017. This Trade Wind makes a lot of sense to us. Currently, we're in a 30'FC and we'd like to go smaller again. We were disappointed that the 25RB was discontinued this year (we aren't fans of FB models), but our arms could be twisted to get into this one in a Twin layout. The laminate is too grainy and rustic looking, but I'm hoping it'll grow on me. Nice job on this one, Airstream!
Your airstream is still a young one. My parents purchased there's in 1969, and they are still using it full time in 2023. They are working there way down from Alaska to meet us in Key West this winter . They have a little over 2.5 million miles on it and it is still going strong.
Love the information. Portugal is a Good Counry to sell AIRSTREAM products like this one. Think about that because we are a beautiful country and economy to explore. From Portugal. Many Thanks / ES
love it. Very nice trailer and quite possibly my next one. Would like to see the 25 RB back though. Prefer the bed in the rear of the coach. nice review.
Agree! I can’t believe they dropped the rear bed. Having the beds in the back moves the entry door to the front of the coach, allowing you to get into smaller camp sites without the door hanging off the back of the site. Also the larger bathroom and just having the beds in the back.
@rvnut WOW. I just can't anymore with these outrageous prices. I really must be getting old but with that price it should be a 3 bd house! Prices continue skyrocketing while salaries crawl 🤔😳🙄
I like this. I wonder if it would be possible to have an induction cooktop and microwave instead and propane burners. I’d also like the option of deleting the propane furnace and water heater and just have an on demand electric water heater and use the heat pump for heating/cooling. I used a 400w space heater this weekend as my only heat in my old trailer and it raised the temperature from 55 to 68 overnight. I would move somewhere warmer if the temperature was going to be 40 or less. It looked like the queen bed had space along the wall, but the overhead cabinets would stop anyone using that side. Fine for me as mostly single but the reading lights are positioned for north south sleeping. I think this is the best camper I’ve seen that doesn’t have the electric drive motors. It’s definitely pricey considering I would need a more powerful tow vehicle too, so near enough to $200,000
Just bought a Flying Cloud 27FBT. Have a little buyer’s remorse for this unit. However, I am really enjoying the desk option and the external storage with the twin beds. I got the bunk option, but basically it is useless except for a very small child. Long enough, but not enough headroom for an adult to even turn over. One of the most exciting features on the unit is the ability to recirculate the hot water. I waste so much water (filling my tank) waiting for warmer water. Can this be retrofitted? The new door handle is nice in that you can replace it with the digital locking system from RV Lock. I did that on my Basecamp but can’t on the traditional Airstream lock.
We have a 2019 27 FBT Flying Cloud also. Love it, tows great. But I do like the new Trade Wind, just being a 25 footer, I don’t know about giving up the space.
I certainly hope they will apply all of these new features to the 27-foot trailer as well. I've been toying with purchasing a Globetrotter 27FBT, and am willing to wait for the Trade Wind 27FBT. I sure hope it's in the works!
Would like to know expectations around the DC powered Air conditioner. A basis would be fine. Possible condition could be 95% battery charge availability, 95 deg OAT, 85 deg inside temp at the dinette, 69% humidity, run time to cool dinette area to ~72 deg and available run time on DC power to sustain. Just an example, but I think a use case that the folks in the NE would be interested in. Perhaps the AS engineers could runs a few scenarios to provide consumer’s a general sense. Overall, I think this configuration is a ‘banger
is there a bypass for batteries when hooked up? Doesn't want to make draw and charge at the same time situation (will kill the batteries real quick) otherwise.. Want to get one right now attractive!
Very nice progression forward. As far as feedback goes, someday, I hope we can stop talking about Amp/hours and talk watt/hours instead. Not every DC system is 12v and you may want to consider moving towards 24v or 48v to save wiring costs. I'd like to see a bigger battery bank, more solar and the option to eliminate gas in the galley. Instead, consider induction cooktop and convection oven. The amount of power that a LCD TV consumes is almost insignificant, so the move to a 12v no-name tv seems odd. I'd rather have a better quality option (Samsung/LG) even if it was AC, but I applaud the ability to bring your own device (AppleTV). I'm also hoping this is just the first size in the Trade Wind line and that you introduce a version slightly larger. Personally I loved the Tommy Bahama styling from a few years ago.
For all the naysayers, I, too, loathe high prices. But this is Airstream - you already know prices are high. They're not for those of us who can't afford them. A 25-footer from Airstream is almost never below the mid-90s new. Some of their 30-footers are $200K-ish and their vans are nearly $300K. This thing has what no other Airstream does unless you spend $25-30K to have everything added - only exception being if you're a DIYer and then it'd be about $18-$20K and a heck of a lot of work. It's got a fully-inverted electrical system with a 3K-watt inverter. Not the usual crappy 1K-watt inverter Airstream provides that dies if you try to run something as innocuous as a tiny hair dryer or space heater. It's got 800 amp hours of lithium, 600watts of solar and room for more, recirculating water heater, holding tanks the same size as the freshwater tank (finally!), there's an option for a composting toilet (FINALLY!) along with an AC unit that'll run on battery without dying in 5 minutes and without requiring a soft start (I presume, based on looking at the specs) if you use a generator. Only thing I think they need to immediately course correct on is the low-end-looking fabric option. Get it together, Airstream. Cheaping out on fabric - both in seating and in bedding - is not okay. Even the cheapest stuff you've used in Bambi and Caravel the past 5 or 6 years has been lightyears better.
This is one seems to be one that I can actually get onboard with, I just wish it didn't have propane but not a non-negotiable. The off-grid package and lift makes for it, as well as, the interior cabinetry colors etc. The price? Not so much, but I understand why.
I realize that this is a prototype unit, but I've noticed this on many of the ones I've seen on dealer lots -- at about 17:30 in this video, he opens the cabinet, and there is a huge gap between the cabinet and the aluminum interior. Wouldn't items get lost/caught in this gap? Is this gap normal? Is there a function that the gap serves? ruclips.net/video/z0ocJIqt7hY/видео.html
I’m 76 yrs if you buy, only buy dry bath/separate shower on right side. Toilet sink left. Mercedes makes this and their competitors. Wet baths are terrible wet towels for drying. Constantly. Mold, mildew. Slim dampness. Never ever buy a wet bath. And don’t have to buy flush toilets there are dry toilet no smell no flush wraps tight folds up air tight. Throw in dumpster. No cheap but no flushing tanks, no water dependency. Clean living. One more point to make we bought ours in Italy. They take this wonderful engineered van and add bright warm colors like home. We have deep dark red couches lazy boy chairs. Bright stone flooring except bedrooms luscious warm carpet. No matter how nasty the weather these welcome you. Our guess for dinner beg to stay till morning. We invite🤗🇺🇸Italy the best shipment to USA $780. Trucking to our home $680. You can also get optional engine drive train. Michigan
they need to fix something, I just noticed that IF you open the door all the way, and leave just the screen door closed, you can't look out those two windows over the sink. Why didn't anybody catch this?
It's not a, "removable sprayer", it is called a, "pull out sprayer". Above the cook top you have a "range hood with an exhaust fan and light, not an, "exhaust fan".
Under cabinet lights are not dimmable. GE A/C doesn’t have a vent mode where it pulls in fresh air. It has a mode where the fan circulates interior air. You’re the GM of travel trailers, know your product.
I wanted to like this but its really not practical for running AC. Still I like the concept of the bigger inverter and recirc. Thanks but no thanks to the composting toilet. And the awning fabric makes me sad. Awnings need to be striped. There should be a law!!!!!!
Good engineering?! But very cold like living in a can! Went to Italy bought there. Warm colors to hot! Inviting with home sweet home feeling. Paid extra $1700. For shipping including insurance. We have most beautiful interior you can not buy in America. People do not want to leave our trailer at night especially if storming because we are so comfortable cozy!!!’😊
Man Airstream needs some young blood in the design department.... We moved the batteries inside so now there's an empty box where they used to be... Bonus storage department!!? Oh Bigger aggressive tires too... That things not going off road.
How come you add a powerful electric system with large capacity in batteries and inverter, yet you still have a gas cooktop. This is ridiculous. If you want to get rid of inconveniences like a generator and gas and go full electric, why would you keep the cooktop a gas one? At least offer an induction cooktop! You are offering composting toilet. Give those who want a fully off grid unit, meaning all electric with solar, no generator and the capacity to recharge with an alternator, a choice to get of gas. In the Ridgeline, you got rid of gas, but kept the generator. Go figure!
You should literally be getting two trailers for this price. Completely ridiculius what people pay for these. No slides, no storage, no cargo capacity, but golly, gee whizz it's aluminum! Why that is worth so much to people, I will simply never understand.
My parents purchased there airstream in 1969 when they got married. It is now 2023 and they have put a total of 2.5 million miles on it since 69. They are now full timers in it .

Whoa, a larger inverter? I just fell off my chair, about time! 👍🏽😎👍🏻
That puppy looks so happy now
Thank you for the video. Impeccable craftsmanship inside and out. The woodwork is handsome and Airstreams smell like a newly built residential home when you walk inside compared to other RVs. Someone else mentioned auto-leveling jacks. Good idea. 😉👍

I want to see the twin also
Yeah the laminate color and grain looks outdated. Hopefully it looks better in person.

I saw one in person and the terra-cotta was my favorite. It felt more homey and like a cabin. I really love this new airstream.
Nice trailer. I prefer the toilet and shower design all on one side like the former 26-footers. Really need two ACs on the roof.
Love the information.
Portugal is a Good Counry to sell AIRSTREAM products like this one.
Think about that because we are a beautiful country and economy to explore.
From Portugal.
Many Thanks / ES
Great video, this is a great direction for airstream. Very compelling
love it. Very nice trailer and quite possibly my next one. Would like to see the 25 RB back though. Prefer the bed in the rear of the coach. nice review.

It would be nice if these solar capabilities is the future for all the Airstream models.
Trading my 2021 23FBQ for this !!! Should be picking it up February
I may be trading my 2019 Flying Cloud for one of these ❤❤ Love it!
Airstream is very nice but at this price, there should be auto leveling.
I agree.
Where is the price? Or what is the price?
On the website - Starts at $129,400
@rvnut WOW. I just can't anymore with these outrageous prices. I really must be getting old but with that price it should be a 3 bd house! Prices continue skyrocketing while salaries crawl 🤔😳🙄
*I know...only for the rich 😉🤨🤬🤪
Nice tour...thank you!
It's Roku, not Ruko. 😎
I like this. I wonder if it would be possible to have an induction cooktop and microwave instead and propane burners.

Is it easy to remove the couch and replace with recliners ?
Just bought a Flying Cloud 27FBT. Have a little buyer’s remorse for this unit. However, I am really enjoying the desk option and the external storage with the twin beds. Perhaps I missed it, but how long will this configuration go without a charge at max load. Would be nice to have a load/time chart.
What can you suggest to pull it? This looks like the Flying Cloud but upgraded. Id like to see the Caravel upgraded.
does the AC come with a soft start?
I want this as Pottery Barn style
What's a Ruko?

That entry step needs to be rethought
What size tv is it?
is there a bypass for batteries when hooked up? Doesn't want to make draw and charge at the same time situation (will kill the batteries real quick) otherwise.. Want to get one right now attractive!

Optional bunk over bed?
How much for the Tradewinds with the hatch,?
& I agree with the guy that says it should come with power levelers.
Can you live in this year around in the Canadian north ?
Is the hatch used to exclusively bring insects into the unit or does it serve another purpose ?
The rear hatch is a great idea, but the option price for it seems excessive
This is one seems to be one that I can actually get onboard with, I just wish it didn't have propane but not a non-negotiable. The off-grid package and lift makes for it, as well as, the interior cabinetry colors etc. The price? Not so much, but I understand why.
yes the price is getting up there with the motorhome prices!
All RV’s are.
There are a lot of units sitting everywhere. Prices will come down.
Yes, I have seen that happening already.
@@sparkpaul but will the interest rates ever come back down? And if so, when?
Will you a 23 feet Trade Wind
Pls add a macerator & hose reel with control box like your Class Bs - really need to upgrade the dump procedure. TFS.

Make the 25-28ft less closet & wider shower. Hubs 6’4” and broad shouldered. Also induction stove top.
What’s the Realistic Life Span of those Lithium Batteries ? Rough cost to replace ? 🤔
When are we going to see an all electric Airstream? This would be cutting edge a decade or two ago.
I’m 76 yrs if you buy, only buy dry bath/separate shower on right side. Toilet sink left. Mercedes makes this and their competitors. Wet baths are terrible wet towels for drying. Constantly. Wow, $129,000 starting MSRP. You can save about $60,000 by buying an InTech Navigate that has everything this has and more headroom.
I googled; no disrespect, but it looks like a toilet bowl.
Second air conditioner?
They need the fully inverted large lithium battery capacity option in all of their models
The color choices do not match the capabilities, being it's a semi off road camper. The color scheme should be more earth tones.
Off-road, lol.
Airstream needs to hire Patrick.... im finding this very difficult to watch without Patrick giving us the rundown. ; /
Dude…. Those pants 😳
Total fashion emergency, but I mean he is selling trailers after all
At this price the lightship L1 seems like a possible better choice as EVs are going to become pretty standard.
Going to sell a lot of these!
they need to fix something, I just noticed that IF you open the door all the way, and leave just the screen door closed, you can't look out those two windows over the sink. Why didn't anybody catch this?

No auto awning, no auto level option
Airstream needs to steal Dean from Leisure Travel Van. This guy is a snoozefest of a spokesperson.

Love the rear hatch, not your over exposed chest. Your collar is too open unless you are John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.
Not a fan of the wood choice in this unit compared to the other offerings from Airstream, looks cheap.
Wish the airstream brain trust would add another off grid camper…take clues from Australian manufacturers…Basecamp 18 XX instead of Trade wind.
Just feels so closed in to me ...
Airstreams are just too expensive for seasonal campers.
Dont boon dock….so not interested in this unit…..no wow factor at all….prefer the globetrotter with full hook ups 😀
Overpriced and absolutely no storage. Would never own one.
All those plastic exterior trim pieces will fail in 3 years. At least it doesn’t have the useless Zip Dee power awning.
Power awning 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
