In my opinion with the insert it’s one of the better sounding options out there. I like some pops too but not when they’re one every single deceleration. After a really hard pull it’s ok. Thanks for the videos. I haven’t seen any other channels that compare as many slip-ons on a ninja 400.
Couldn’t be happier with this exhaust. I chose to leave the baffle out. MUCH louder than I had anticipated, but I love it. Gets a lot of looks. And just a shoutout to STG...great pricing, great shipping, and great how to videos. Very happy customer here. Will be ordering from them again for sure.
It must also vary per pipe, because the sound baffle I had didn't want to go in in either direction, mine had to go in exhaust nozzle first and be rubber malleted in to line up the screw point. The other way from inside the pipe had far more distance and I could not insert it that way.
Ninja 400. I watched your video for the installation, and tried to place it in from the inside but the distance to the screw opening was much more than the opposite way from the outside-in. I tried to get the baffle in with some pressure but all I did was cut my thumb across the pipe. Could be part of the manufacturing process and how the pipe was formed that made me have to go that way?
Not impossible there was a variance in manufacturing of the pipe. Yosh does an amazing job, very rare we have any issues. Were you able to get the insert installed in the muffler? If you need some assistance or if we have a warranty issue with the can please email me at service@sportbiketrackgear.com and we will get you all dialed in. - Brian Van
If there’s about 1 to 2 centimeters of space between the slip on and the bike exhaust pipe (can’t push down the slip on any further down without being able to screw the top bolt in) is that okay? It doesn’t fit all the way down like in the video
Great video just ordered 2 for my bikes.. quick question. Can i just install and go correct? Or in your experience do I really need to mess with ecu and fuel etc...? Thanks for your time.
i have a ninja 400 2020 and the alpha t slip on but the mid pipe leaves the exhaust overextended and touching the wheel. Did you buy a separate mid pipe? or is there a way to buy the same mid pipe as you?
If I'm looking for the deepest, throaty sound from a slip-on, would you go with the Yoshimura, Akrapovic, or something else? I'm not looking for performance gains or anything obnoxiously loud - just a really nice, deep bass note (as much as you can get from the 400 engine, anyways) to make my ears happy while I'm riding.
I would take a look at the Hindle Megaphone Slip On for your bike. Here is a link to that on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/hindle-kawasaki-ninja-400-2018-evo-megaphone-slip-on-exhaust/ - Van
The oil creates enough friction between the clutch plates to make the wheel spin when it is not on the ground. If the tire is on the ground it will not spin at all. - Brian Van
If I said that I screwed up, pretty sure it was loose in the box. Doing these install videos is harder than it looks, that said we work our asses off to make them as accurate as possible. - Brian Van
You will need to add a fuel controller or flash the ecu to get the maximum benefit from the full exhaust system. That said you can install the system and ride the bike without having to worry about damaging it. - Van
No, full systems are not street legal. There are riders who do use them on the street, choosing to operate outside of the restrictions. Personal choice they are responsible for. - Van
End of the day I would not expect the difference to be massive. That said I would ride it set up the way you prefer and not get lost in the numbers. The most important thing is to enjoy the bike and riding it IMO. - Van
Received word back from Yoshimura in regards to the exhaust insert. Per Yosh the Ninja 400 will make a little more total power with the insert installed (while reducing the noise level). Without the insert it will have a little more bottom end power from 7-8000 RPM. - Van
Hey Brian ..which slip on or exhaust is your favorite ? Great job so far on this model the more I watch your videos the more I’m leaning towards getting this as my first bike 👍🏼
This is a great bike man, lean a little further in and go get one! So far I have installed the Yoshimura Alpha, M4 Carbon, Two Brothers, Akrapovic Carbon and the Hindle Megaphone Evo (not live yet) slip ons on our STG Ninja 400. Each of these slip ons are worth buying IMO, they are also all a little different. My advice to you is pick the one you like the look and sound of the best for your bike. End of the day the most important thing is if you dig the exhaust. Now go get that first bike, it will change your life my brother! - Brian Van
Which one is the best of the two brothers or m4 oh the yoshimura I know You try all of them already but I wanna know which one you thing is the best ???
IMO the best exhaust is the one you like the look of and the sound of the most. This is the reason we are installing so many different ones on the project bikes now. Each one we have installed is a little different from the next with features that stand out a little from the crowd. A good example is this Yosh Alpha T Slip On, it is street legal and fit darn near as good as the OEM does. - Brian Van
Hate to ask the same old annoying question. But is it still street legal without the dB killer. Or am I being stupid and it's only about emissions only?
This seems like an obvious answer, on some sales pages it says it also fits z400, but does it also properly work on z400 2019? Great video nonetheless!
Brian's original video titled "Yoshimura Alpha T" was actually the Hindle EVO slip-on. It was up for just a few minutes, then he removed it. He will probably re-upload the Hindle video with a correct title.
Video Steve had the 2 videos crossed up, all fixed now. We will have the Hindle video live as soon as the product is launched. We have one of the first slip ons and full systems here in the US. - Brian Van
Hi, van I had bought this alpha T series through stg for Ninja 400. I have 2 questions 1. Does the db killer fit easily in the muffler? But in my case it seems it needs strong push to get fit in lock screw..? Is it ok to push it a fair bit? 2. Your video says the db killer can be installed only through engine side, but in Tst industries install video i could see them install db killer from rear end as well? But when i tried to put it from rear end seems it could never be possible?? Why its different from stg and tst? Was i delivered right product,? Expect your prompt ans for both questions. Appreciate It!! Anand
There is only one Yosh muffler for this system so you have the correct part. With the one we received the easiest way to install the db killer was to have the muffler off the bike and install from the engine (inlet) side. It may require some force to get it into place, each system can be a little different in that way due to slight variance in manufacturing. It will only take a minute to remove the muffler, from there it will be straight forward. Make sure you have the insert aligned with the hole in the muffler to ease installation of the fastener for the db killer. Thanks for the order and let me know if you need anything else. - Van

FINNALLY!!! A slip on that doesnt make the bike look wonkey (really lon mid pipe with a small little can on the end). This might be "the one".

i have a ninja 400 2020 and the alpha t slip on but the mid pipe leaves the exhaust overextended and touching the wheel. Did you buy a separate mid pipe? or is there a way to buy the same mid pipe as you?

Why does the wheel spin a little when you throttle in neutral?
The oil creates enough friction between the clutch plates to make the wheel spin when it is not on the ground. If the tire is on the ground it will not spin at all. - Brian Van

Pretty sure our pipe came the same way. - Van

would you need to install a power commander for a slip on?
No need to install a fuel controller with a slip on on this bike. Just install the exhaust and ride the bike. - Van
Thank you so much!
Does the engine need remapping for this exhaust?
You will need to add a fuel controller or flash the ecu to get the maximum benefit from the full exhaust system. That said you can install the system and ride the bike without having to worry about damaging it. - Van
Can you use the full system with the street legal exhaust?
No, full systems are not street legal. There are riders who do use them on the street, choosing to operate outside of the restrictions. Personal choice they are responsible for. - Van
How much of a power difference do you suspect there to be between the insert installed and with it out?
Negligible difference in power. The baffle only changes the sound. In order to gain any significant power, you need a full system + fuel remap.
End of the day I would not expect the difference to be massive. That said I would ride it set up the way you prefer and not get lost in the numbers. The most important thing is to enjoy the bike and riding it IMO. - Van
Thanks for the reply! Yes very true what you say, all about preference as well as riding style.

Question, does removing the insert make it illegal for street?
If it is a street legal exhaust that came with the insert installed in it removing the insert would make it closed course only. - Brian Van
