I've spent a lot of time driving on that track. It's an amazing one, and it's surprisingly technical.
That turn he's talking about is the crows nest. There's another turn that'll get you. It's on the back half of the track, where you fly up another hill, and you have to just know that when you crest, before you even see where you're supposed to go, you have to turn and point in a very specific direction. Any time we raced, or watched other groups compete, that turn produced some dangerously spectacular crashes.

I remember being so relieved that the McLaren landed on all four wheels and stayed on 'em the whole way down, and thankfully didn't sound like anything had gone wrong, even better that at worst it had a grill full of grass.

@@FraZzJ Yes, and he's fking driving: no-one is ever supposed to drive faster than is safe according to visibility. In Europe, where I first got my license it's one of the fundamental rules overall in driving, applicable on twisty roads, rain, heavy snowfall, fog: it's your responsibility to drive at a speed in relation to your visibility so you don't hit anything/anyone or drive off the road.
Even on a racetrack that should be a no-brainer on a track-recce. But Freddy did own up to it, he said pretty clearly that _he_ made a mistake, both driving faster than he thought he was going and also not driving according to conditions/visibility/his knowledge of the track.
On race tracks it's of course allowed to drive faster than visibility allows...once you've done your recce and you know the layout of the track!
