2:12 "It doesn't let you put the map in the middle like you can in some other rival systems?" What systems? From VW? How much money you have to spend in order to equip a polo with a fully digital cluster? Maybe from Peugeot 208? Yeah, you have to get the Allure Plus version that costs way more than you pay for the full extra version of i20, and the i20 gives you a digital cluster from the base model anyway.
"Boot space isn't a standout for the class" Well last time I checked 352 litres in a supermini was pretty good but OK. It wasn't very long ago a focus gave you 316 litres of boot space and that's the next segment up from this i20.
Bravo for reviews that get straight to the point. While the delivery of other channels may feel more fluid, and dare I say confident, the succinctness of Doug's reviews are worth subscribing to what car. 18 minutes of one review is too much.
I have this in Black in the Premium trim and DCT Auto Transmission. It’s a great car. A real head turner with the lovely alloys and tinted windows. Don’t see many on the road really. Economical and plenty quick enough for around town and on the motorway. I’d personally go for a Premium spec if you can afford it, it just looks better than the SE Connect and you get the much better infotainment system inside. The materials inside are absolutely fine. Yes it’s not beautiful but it’s functional and really how often will you touch the dashboard? Steering wheel feels great in the hand. I’d 100% recommend this, defo add it on to your shopping list if you’re looking for a small hatch!
The gearbox is fine if you drive it slowly, but if you try to rush it, it "tells" you immediately you should be a little smoother and more precise with the shifting moves. Not very forgiving is the best way I can describe it!
This cars only flaw is the Kia Rio, it’s the same size, it’s cheaper and comes with the same engines and a 7 year warranty, plus it still looks really modern
I drove one the other day, the clutch pedal was ridiculously difficult, biting point was about 90% up the clutch. Would not recommend if you’re a learner or new driver.

Plus in this third generation model theirs not much incentive to pay so much more for the higher specs. If you're minted then yes I supposed crack right on but more mere mortals couldn't afford the higher models.
Cos different countries have different transmissions. I have no idea what your country’s deal is, but I do know for sure the United States is not getting it, and we get it in the UK.
I just got one of these as a courtesy car, I got 60.8mpg on the drive home. Not that impressive when I get 75mpg in my 2012 Toyota Aygo. I'm an efficient driver though and I've learned a bit more about the hybrid system and the free wheel engine cut off. Compared to the Aygo this car feels really disconnected. It's horrible to drive compared to my Aygo because of this reason. It doesn't like rev matched shifts either as I found you get an after kick from the throttle blip which I assuming is from the electric motor? I'm not too sure though.
The new Tuscon looks amazing, but I'm disspointed with this new i20. I have a 66 plate i20 Premium SE model and honestly prefer it to this new version.
i had both the previous model and the new one. If you drive the new one you will realise that its way ahead the older one and has better engine than ford focus 95 and clio.
The Hyundai i20 has no options to adjust regen. The regen system is schizophrenic. It can't decide whether it's going to cut the engine and coast or if it's going to slam on the regen so you can't consistantly plan a coast down towards a set of lights or a junction.
Why are comments turned off for all of your "car of the year" videos? I would have loved to read people's opinions, some owner's complaints... You know, the usual interaction.
I'm driving the previous model i20 ultimate 120 bhp....this latest model has no electric sunroof or a spare wheel as an option.... I won't be buying this model with such poor spec options and such a weak engine....
Except reliability..... VW is an illusion of quality from the past. Ford are down the poopers with their car business and are struggling financially which might translate to major issues on warranty works for buyers, and those brands really give trouble. Something these biased motoring "journalists" fail to mention.
@@MehdiS-music I have to agree on the reliability side of things. Japanese car manufacturers don't half do reliability right. I've a Toyota in my family and it's never caused even a bit of bother (outside of things you might expect).
I owned a Hyundai i20 Active car which I bought in august 2017 and since the beginning there are a lot of issues with the car paint and ac especially, whoever person I met and whenever we discuss, everybody having these two common issues. Just after 2 years, my ac failed where I have driven Maruti and Ford cars for more than 10 years and there was not a single issue with those cars during the entire span. Hyundai is the worst with this quality. Need your support to take it to Hyundai forum where you can get some solution.
I've had 4,x hyundai cars now in my household the i10 old model, an old model I30 then in 2018 I got divorced, both ended up getting i20s. Not ones had an issue one. Not even a puncture or a tyre change. We had each car between 3-4 years before exchanging. We've been happy, they're not thrill machines by any stretch, just solid, & reliable, little sprint / run about's.
AC failure seems to be common with most cars. That's been the case with my 2013 Audi A3 which failed in 2018. Since cars became electric they've become fragile
Yeah it’s not a hybrid in the same sense that a Toyota Yaris is a hybrid. Reckon they’ve got a bit of a cheek calling it a hybrid - really it’s a performance boost.
i really liked it when i saw it live. in the end, i only ended going for a fiesta because: - more powerful MHEV engine. Unfortunately no MHEV i20's here in portugal - driving dynamics on the fiesta are simply amazing - lack of a sporty trim on the hyundai i20 range so far (n-line still not available, so can't have a proper opponent to the ST-Line) - the fiesta feels more premium inside. Not too flashy, but not too sober. just the right amount. - and lastly... the price. 18k euros for a brand new Fiesta ST-Line. oh, and ford gifted me the 7 years warranty.

Even a Dacia Sandero could give you more than a Focus back in 2014 lol
352 litres for a supermini is quite a lot, it’s only the Ibiza, Fabia and Clio which have bigger boots in this class

Why do some I20's get analogue speedometer?
Can't see the logic of manufacturers using cheap plastic on trim. Is "expensive" plastic such a high cost?
But why does the plastic need to be expensive? It's not like we're going to be using it as a punching bag all day
@@sams4mmmm because if feels nicer to the touch. which you do alot in a car. you always put your hands on the plastics.
Why not review the premium model?
Because most people buy cheaper versions so it's misleading to review top trims.

So in Romania they have the clutchless manual?

It’s the semi-manual version. IMT is the manual transmission WITHOUT the clutch pedal.

Disappointing, looks good on the outside but seems downhill from there. Won’t have as good a resale value as rivals either
The resale value of Hyndai is gorgeous, especially within the 5-year-guerantee.
It's got a better, much longer warranty package than the ford so ought to hold value ok
resale value will be much better than the french rivals.
