The bible did say honor parents, but he also said dont provoke your children to ANGER.( dont harrass them) You cant force religion down they throats, after they get OUT your house.
Most of the time, 'don't provoke' is a cop-out excuse and usually not the case. Rebellion on the part of the child is the core issue.
Thats interesting, how you use the Bible to reject your parents teaching. If the Bible is invalid then why is that verse valid? It sounds to me like you're being terribly selective and wanting to create your own Jesus by only accepting the verses you like
Yes that’s true. God did say “do not provoke your children.” however each person needs to do his or her part. Children are required to honor their parents, and parents are to not provoke children. Both of these are commandments that are to be obeyed. There is no reason to link the two by making either of them conditional to the other. So as a child I continue to honor my parent regardless of whether my parents have been fair to me or not. As a parent I continue in obedience to the command that you have pointed out. God being fair will reward obedience because we put our faith and trust in Him.
