to be fair this fight in the manga was also real quick, each anime chapter has 3-4 from the manga, and merchphobia's fight against natsu with ignia's flames lasted just 2 eps from the manga
Ignia is kinda a mix of both Acnologia & Zeref as one character but the better final villain!! in my opinion! ! he is amazing they did Ignia justice in the anime!!!
You´ll see more character development growth from Natsu!! it might seem he reverted back in this episode but that´s not the case in 100 Years Quest unlike the original series where it was just the Gildarts lesson & Natsu´s change of behavior of defending Lucy much more often after Future Lucy died Natsu also burnt his arm when he used Flame of Emotion against Fairy Heart Zeref it burnt his arm the same happend here but the anime toned down the burns where´s Ep 46 of final season Natsu´s burnt arm is seen much more burnt

But one advice, don't think too much just let all of ur question slowly be answered in the next episodes..the things that can be explained we will explain to you okay Let's make FT popular like the way it used to be maybe even more than that..that way, the studio will put more budget and dedication in making it better...When Ignia first showed up i thought the VA was kenjiro tsuda (the va for Nanami) since the he talked sounds like Nanami and Jigen...but after he raised his voice i instantly knew it was Okamoto Nabuhiko (Bakugo VA)...i always forget he has two different tones for his voice whenever he speaks so calmly and shouts mightily 😭😂😂..sick sick!!! Anyway that short story in the beginning was actually from bonus chapter that is made for every new manga volume releases...the title for the bonus story "Lucy's concern" literally portrays in the main story when Lucy was concerned about Natsu and got scared of his fire

Storyboards are the one that is being followed to make a scene, that Natsu throwing Mercphobia clip is something you can't picture without hearing the dialogue afterwards, and so I agree to your feedback. As someone that studied animation, this might have been a case of a last minute cut to save budget for the sake of highlighting the finest parts necessary. Similar thing happened on the previous episode where Gray uses Ice Canon but we barely see the effect of it, it was just a small white dot. Also, one thing I wanna nitpick on this new style is the score - it's not giving FT. Other than the og soundtrack, the ambience and other sound effects are bland and left unsupported. The thrill part sometime is lacking because of that poor score. Anything else is an 3x upgrade to what we had on S3 of the OG run.
About the soundtrack I feel kinda disappointed with the entire 100 yrs quest music. Like the music aint anything special or better said it doesn't have that iconic FT style (exception the main theme) plus in this particular episode there have been some moments that were left without ambient sound entirely. They could just put the old eerie FT music that they liked to use alot but no they decide to just leave it kinda bland.

He will never turn into a dragon nor into a demon anymore (the dragon and demon seeds in him are destroyed, and this what you know saw was just Natsu going berserk cause he devaured ignias corrupted flames). Dont know what do you consider season 4 cause fairy tail has only 3 seasons. And if there really is something that you skipped then you should really not watch 100 years quest yet.

But i guess i will finish the remainings first before continuing with 100 years quest😉( i was just too excited and cannot wait to enjoy the new season of FT)
