I got one a month ago, instead of a pro, exactly to use it as you describe in the video, as a tablet not as a laptop replacement. It is light, easy to hold, portable, not take a large space if you sit in a restaurant, or a coffee shop. It you not a pro user, this is all you need as a tablet.

I am in full agreement. I got the updated iPad Mini when it was released this year and it functions impeccably! Its size is perfect for carrying in a bag, pocket of a blazer, or jacket and it is so lightweight. I have the 5G chip and I use it with Google Fi's free data only SIM cards when I am travelling. It is more flexible than an e-reader, yet more convenient than a bigger iPad or laptop.

I picked a second hand iPad Mini 6 (Cellular+Wifi) for $430 few months back and I think it was the best iPad I could have ever purchased!! Hands down the best! Before this I was using the M1 iPad Pro 11", honestly having a MacBook Air M1, the 11 inch iPads are just a waste unless you have specific use cases with these screen sizes (11 & 12.9 inch iPads). I honestly feel the Mini 6 does everything perfectly well for what a tablet should do...its the best way for me to disconnect from my phone and focus on only the minimal apps i want to use on a large screen

I bought an iPad Mini Cellular 8 years ago. I did not like it for browsing - I use my 14" laptop for that and an Apple TV for viewing.
So - after 8 years of having it lying around I use my Mini almost exclusively when I "travel" for the following - in order of most used:
#1- as a GPS unit in a vehicle - the best GPS ever (70%)
#2 - as a Sidecar or mirror screen to view video paired with a M2 MBA (25%)
    #3 - as an eReader (4%)
    #4 - the odd miscellaneous task (1%)
After these years, that's about all I have used the mini for (I don't game) Otherwise it sits in a drawer.
Since it is on it's last leg - I will likely buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out later this year.

I love my iPad mini 6. I use it every day. I also have an iPad Pro 11 inch but I don’t use that as often. It’s always attached to the Magic Keyboard and I use it more like a laptop replacement, although I do have a MacBook. I’ve had the iPad mini since it launched. At first I did think that I wanted it to have Face ID. However now that I’ve used it for more than a year I’ve gotten so used to touch ID that I often the power button on my iPad Pro and sit there for a few seconds wondering why it isnt’t unlocking before remembering that its Face ID and I need to swipe up.😂 So I wouldn’t mind if the next iteration kept Touch ID. I think it’s quite perfect as it is.
I’ve always been a fan of the mini. I’ve had every generation and the first gen mini was my first ipad. The mini 6 is my favourite out of every generation of mini.

    I own a 4 a 5 and a 6... I am a translator of movie scripts (from Italian to English).
    Yeah and so?
Well, Faiz, your review is both absolutely right and brilliant and absolutely wrong and negligent.
Of course the iPad Mini is great for content consumption (you've pushed an open door) and of course it's fine for doodling and PDF annotating with the pencil...
...but where you are negligent (as are about 100% of your reviewing colleagues) is in appreciating what a productivity beast the Mini is for long form writers (novelists, screenwriters, bloggers, translators, scholars, lawyers).
    Huh?
The 8" keyboard allows for super fast thumbing and new writing software allows for faster editing than what's normal on a regular computer. For example... selection is no longer required for deletion. No more keen eye commanding pudgy thumbs to maneuver pesky mini-handles over teensy text. ALL deletions are FASTER and require less anatomy than regular computers!
So fast (tolerably fast) inputting and amazingly fast editing... and Markdown (and certain markups such as Fountain for screenplays) means that the iPad Mini is the one and ONLY instant on, work anywhere, any time, in any position (even lying in bed, or in the car, or strolling) writing / editing device with truly GREAT PRODUCTIVITY.
As you yourself suggested, all the other iPads require, by their very nature, an external keyboard (where they can then "emulate" a proper computer).
But what people don't know (also because otherwise brilliant reviewers like yourself are failing to tell them), is that it is now EMINENTLY POSSIBLE for writers to work PRODUCTIVELY on a handheld. This finally means complementarity. Computer (or make-believe computer tethered to a chair and table, AND - not VERSUS, but AND - true mobility - seamlessly exchanging files.
I would have to WeTransfer you an example of what I'm saying because you've never tried it... It's new and absolutely amazing and fantastic for writers. The learning curve is shallow... the obvious has been staring at us for decades now!
    Saluti dall'Italia E Forza Napoli!

Not bad for a review. I don’t use any of my iPads as a laptop replacement because they aren’t laptops. All iPads are great for “content”; they’re Tablets.
The mini is simply an iPad in small form factor & that doesn’t make it any less powerful than the others. The size makes it great for carrying everywhere & using an iPad like it’s supposed to be used … on the go.
The Mini reminds you that iPads don’t require tables, extra keyboards, monitors, etc.
Pilots, archaeologists, medical personnel, retail, construction, renovators, business meetings, etc. We use the Mini because its iPad power in your pocket.
    Each iPad has its place.
12.9 Pro is for graphic designers who need the screen and color grading. It’s competing primarily for the Cintiq users. (Ergo, dynamic pencil hover for the new M2)
Air is for college students , etc.

Thank you, for an excellent long term review of the iPad mini 6th generation. Agree with all of your comments but, I would be saying them not for the iPad mini but, on the basic iPad models up to the 9th generation. You are correct about the “size” of the device making a big difference. Just comparing my basic iPad 6th generation (with it slightly smaller screen) verses my iPad 9th generation (with its slightly larger screen), I much prefer the size of the smaller iPad 6th generation version. Also, you were right “on point” talking about the iPad OS scale of the options on the screen. Because of this, I have keeping my iPad 6th generation on iPad OS 14 where, the scale is perfect (smile…smile).

Been using the 2018 12.9 ipad pro for years and I love it and got me through Uni. recently bought the mini 6 for work since im constantly taking down notes and scanning documents using them as reference. 2 reasons why I just returned it.
    1. cant go back to 60hz refresh rate - literally feels like theres lag and like I said ive been using the 2018 ipad since its release so....idk why the mini is so far behind in screen technology
    2. Apple needs an always on mode or face detect - because unlocking every time I need to make a note is less convenient than taking down notes on paper....

I almost bought an ipad mini but when I compared it to the new Z Fold 4, there was just no comparison. To trade in my Note 20 ultra for an iphone 14 pro with 512 gb and then purchase an ipad mini with 256 and cellular was gonna cost me $2200 including the apple pencil and then a $200 trade in for my Note ultra for a total of $2000. Add a mac mini and now im at $2700. The fold 4 had 512 storage, a 120 htz screen, super fast next gen processor, and has Dex mode which also makes it a great desktop, phone, and mini tablet. I got it for $1500 on sale and then Samsung gave me $1000 for my Note 20 ultra for a total of $500 including the S pen. Obviously I take it anywhere. So now I have a top of the line phone, desktop computer using dex, and tablet for about $1500 less than the iphone/mini combo and when compared, it just runs circles around the mini. You should try it for yourself. Can you imagine getting an iphone that unfolds into an ipad mini with extremely high specs and lots of storage, and then when you plug it into a monitor, it turns into an imac or macbookusing DEX. Wouldn't that be great? That's the Z Fold 4!

well, unless you're super nearsighted with astigmatism and wearing glasses all the time gives you migraines and a smaller screen means its harder to see, making it difficult to do things you wanna do without difficulty, and that multi tasking is difficult on a smaller screen and things are more smushed. so i mean if you're like me and youre very nearsighted (i mean. if i drove, i would need them since i wouldnt be able to read signs, license plates, or anything, really.) or you have a visual disability or you're focused on multi tasking (whether its for business purposes or for creativity or for leisure) then the ipad 9, ipad 10, or the ipad air would be better. but if you aren't in the minorities listed, then youd probably only ever need a mini.
