      What would I use to support the engine before taking off the bolts I have to pay 180 when the part it’s self is 50 I can see online so was hoping to try it myself

    Don't forget to look up the torque specs for this job. The water pump is 8nm and the engine mount is 40nm guys this is important. But great video and very helpful I feel I can now do this job with confidence.

    I just replaced my water pump and your video was brilliant. All went well because I did that thing with putting bolts into the new pump and then transferring them back into the old pump once it was off and then finally back into the new pump. I did everything you did expect I moved my air filter out of the way to give me more room. Thanks for making the video, you saved my around £120 doing the work myself. 😀👍🏻 thx again

    Great video, of course some of us might do it a little different, remove airbox etc., but give credit where it is due, this is a great video and has helped me do the same job. Check which water pump you have on as there are variants. This one has the temp sensor and throttle body pipe nipple moulded into the pump housing others have a screw on plate with these items attached and rubber not metal gaskets. The method for replacement is essentially the same. Top marks for the video.

    Hi Andrew, good video i just done mine, mine is slightly different the sensor and hose at the top i didnt have to take off, the on a housing held on with 2 splined screw, so i took them out and bolted it to new pump, i found the engine mounting bracket a bit difficult but got there in the end...the gaskets on mine are those rubber things that fit in a groove, i changed all those, 2 on mine, but to my astonishment when i had finished there were no leaks...i done what you said with the bolts as there all different length, think there are about 9 of them....but all went ok...lot quieter now, was getting really noisy...cheers from Fred Nr Chelmsford.

    Hi!
    When you removed the lower engine mount bolt (the rusty one), did that go though a water channel in the block? I am going to change the belt, but I do not want to tap off the antifreeze if I do not have to.

  • @lexusdominus

    Same for me i need to replace the alternator belt.. where is the best place to put the jack? i read you can do it by the oil sump but half of people say it could damage it. anyway on the corsa theres some plastic covering over half of the sump.

    this is a good video thank you - when you fit the new pump, is there a seal that goes between the impeller and timing case cover? when i removed the old pump, there was a piece of rubber what looked like a damaged seal, over the impeller, not sure where it is from.

    • @martinbell9171
      @martinbell9171 7 лет назад

      Naomi Brooks, there is a seal on the timing cover gasket that are sometimes prone to failure on these engines, usually leaks water in to engine and then people confuse it with blown headgasket. If it dont look good then probably needs new timing cover gasket, if thats the case then i would realy consider a new timing chain kit as when you have timing chain cover off it will be easier to do the whole lot as the tentioner and chains are prone to failure on them aswell.

    • @herdsire90210
      @herdsire90210 5 лет назад

      I have the same issue. There are some tricks to check if it's the engine gasket. Foam in the oil, oil in the coolant. It that is not the case it's the waterpump or its piping. I'm 100% sure it's my waterpump gasket which ruined the pump.

  • @Daniel-ew2qf
    @Daniel-ew2qf 7 лет назад +1

    Right, after looking at this video I attempted to change the water pump on my Corsa D 2010 SXI. There is zero space to remove the engine mount, and the air-box came off, tried to jack the engine up-down the long bolts didn't want to come off, ended up putting it back together. Is there "a way" that you are supposed to take that mount off as the space is significantly less than a corsa C? Nightmare... Great video if only it was for a D.

    How do i put the belt back, where is the tensioner

  • @CookieScaley
    @CookieScaley 7 лет назад

    The most common reasons for water pump failure is a leak, bad pump bearing/pulley, snapped auxiliary belt or oil mixing with the coolant. The last one is the least common of these reasons. If your head gasket needs replacing, the water pump and thermostat should be changed at the same time, A, because it saves hours and thus money, B, they have similar maintenance intervals.

    what is the name of the belt you take off and is it easy just to do that? Do I just release the tensioner but don't have to take the pulley off

    • @martinbell9171
      @martinbell9171 7 лет назад

      Bez big the belt is the auxiliary belt, if you put a 14 mm spanner or 15mm cant remember on the tentioner where the pulley is and push on it as if you were tightening the nut it will release the tentioner so you will be able to release the belt and take off, you will have to give it some force though as it is tentioned by a large spring.

      The water pump on these corsas are driven by the auxiliary belt, (they are not internal) they also are driven by a timing chain not a belt.
