Just ordered one! I'm running a 7.2.4 system off of a yamaha 3060 (with a Niles 2100) connected to an 83" LG C2 - really looking forward to updating my listening experience!
I replaced my Denon 6200 AVR with the Sony AZ7000ES, and I really love the sound of the receiver. The calibration on the Sony is easy, and very good. However, one thing that Sony dropped the ball on is bass management. I have dual SVS PB1000 Pro's, and the receiver configures them as one. I am hoping a Mini-DSP will be the solution.
I had a 3000ES and it sounded great but unlike my current receiver it did not auto switch the hdmi port to my Xbos Series console when I hit the Xbox symbol on the controller after the console was on.. I enjoyed eveything about it and even hady SARS5'S connected but the lack of that HDMI switching function was disheartening and I debated over it but in the end, and because it was the same retail price as my current unit that did switch to my Xbox when prompted while also having preouts for an additional amp I ultimately returned it.
Actually, Sony's Music Center app that was mentioned around 3:20 in a control app that can be installed onto both Android and Apple smartphones. Deal back on!! lol No need to return it
@@crutchfield Yes Sony Music Center app is for music. Not for changing settings and controlling the receiver. I called Teck Support three times. If you owned a Yamaha receiver you would understand. There phone app you can do every thang with it and not even touch the receiver you can be in the other room. 🤣 PS: Music Yamaha RX-A3080 Blew the Sony away!

The Sony ES STR-AZ5000ES is an excellent choice, Nick! Let us know how you like it.

I would look at Rythmic Servo sub and just run like FVX15HP. SVS are more for movie shenanigans.
solid av receiver
Three things I wish these receivers had are; the ability to turn off the internal amp, V.O.G capability and XLR connections.

Nice review. Are they building them in Japan, or China?
Neither. Malaysia
Sony currently lists the country of origin for this model as Malaysia.
with the hdmi out to another tv, is the audiio stereo or native? Most avr's go down to stereo, but I did find my denon can output 5.1
Multi-channel to Zone 2 will be set for 2-channel.
When will these receivers get released in the Netherlands (Europe)?
Hi Wim, thanks for reaching out. We show no ETA for release there; but you may want to check with Sony directly: www.sony.nl/
No phone app! You have to point your remote right at it! Deal breaker! 🤣 Return it.

@@gregorybond2859 Apparently it does have a web interface. I'm still trying to find out how easy that is to use and how many things can it control.
Cool receiver and voice.😁👍
Thanks! We are really excited to see the return of the ES line and had to add some flair to the video lol
