Hello G, correct - this model doesn't have pre outs for connecting an external amp. If that is key for you, please reach out so we can help you find the right solution for you: ask@gramophone.com
If you use the SA RS5 wireless speakers on these AVR as rear speakers, can you get 2 rears and 2 rear height speakers, effectively turning this from 5.1.4 to 7.1.6?
Hello Anzai, it does not appear so, as these are called out on Sony's site as working with their sound bars; "for HT-A7000/HT-A5000/HT-A3000". But you may want to reach out to Sony tech support to see if there is some work-around: us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US
Hello Stephen, good questions. Up-firing vs ceiling speakers is partly a question of what you can accomplish in your space - for example, most apartment dwellers or folks planning a move to a larger home in a few years won't install ceiling speakers - and also a question of how good the ceiling speakers are. Some of our vendors make in-ceiling products that disperse so well they practically disappear. Re the 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, it makes for a more immersive listening experience, with a sense of being surrounded by the sound - but we're not sure how to quantify that for you re how many channels it equates to. Please reach out to us if you'd like more discussion before your purchase: ask@gramophone.com
Hello User, we're not sure. Are you by chance using this receiver, but hearing a "pop" sound when you play a movie? Please reach out to us if it helps clarify your concern: ask@gramophone.com

@@Joejoemilanczuk Hello User, thank you - we are sorry that you had this issue with your STR 1080. You can easily get 10 - 20 years out of an AVR. With this receiver, unless some other new audio codec comes out in the next 10 years, you should be covered.
@@DJMT-Africathanks for your comment. However that might be a very problematic situation to be in with respect to customer support if something should go wrong. I’m also not sure that using a step down transformer would compromise the manufacturer warranty. From a consumer standpoint it would be much more convenient if they sold it here. AV is a healthy market in the UK.
@@ShadyLittleBoz I have been buying Sony’s ES receivers ever since they became exclusive for the North American and Japanese markets. So going on nearly 20 years. In that time, I have shipped them in from the U.S. and they have been rock solid. I have used step-down transformers on them without any issue for that period too. I had one fail its Ethernet controller (STR-DA5800ES2), but I had a local engineer fix that for me. I could have sent it back, but chose otherwise. If you are waiting for the receiver to be sold in the UK, you’ll be waiting forever.
good they put accessible the main menu and most of the options on the front, most of the receivers you need to have the remote control
This received doesn’t have pre out to add external amp ?

The problem with Av amps is they out of date too quickly. Why not upgrade parts av amps?
I had a Yamaha but decided to go back to my Cambridge wich i never upgraded but sounds so much better.

There is a company with modular recievers called Nad. Never had one myself but I'm fascinated with the feature. @@DJMT-Africa
Why can’t we get these in the UK? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Shady, we're sorry to hear that. As a retailer, we're not involved in those corporate decisions - can't offer much help.
Just import it yourself, and don't forget to get a step-down transformer.
