@@secretagent863 seconds!? So a few millimetres of "special" foam in modern spikes make you 22 metres faster over a mile? If that were true, there'd be dozens of athletes all smashing the middle distance WRs of the 90s. The late 90s wasn't the stone age either. They had lightweight track spikes and ran on synthetic rubber tracks just like today. I'm sure there's been marginal improvements since then but not on the level that you think.
His race endurance has not peaked. If he is able to improve his endurance through his mid 20s to late 20s, it seems likely that several new WR performances will come. This, of course, depends on whether he can avoid serious injury. Running at his pace is obviously stressing his body very close to a hard limit. Injuries can change everything. For his sake, and ours in his growing fan base, let's all hope he stays healthy. I predict he will set a new WR in the 1500 and 5K in Paris.

Would this start to hinder him from the 10,000m up?
What do you think about Marathon? Kipchoge and Gebresselassie started also with shorter Distance before dominated Marathon. Mo Farah was too old when he switch to Marathon
I predict he will set the world record at the mile at Bislett Games next year. Hear me out: This year's attempt, at the end of a long season, I believed gave him confidence that he is very close to getting this record. At the same time, it would be ideal to set a world record at his homestage - he has himself talked about how excited he gets every time he competes at Bislett games. There's also the fact that Bislett games this year showed him that it's possible to run very fast at this track given that he set what was a 1500m PB at the time at this event. And the dream mile at Bislett games has always held a lot of prestige, almost in the same league as the Bowerman mile.
“almost in the same league as the Bowerman mile” Americans rewriting history again. Winners at Oslo: Coe (WR), Ovett(WR), Cram(WR), Elliot. Scott, Walker, Kiprop, HEG, Morceli, Ingebrigtsen The Bowerman was basically just a US gathering until a few years ago and the only reason it got the field it did this year is because the meet got pushed to the end of the season. no doubt its a huge advantage but i would argue even without the wavelight tech he still would've broken some records. Guy will go down as the greatest to ever do it in distance running
Jakob is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME he will break or can break the World Records over 1.500, Mile, 3.000, and 5.000 untill 2025 Past 2025 when he moves up in distance he can aswell run great 10k’s and half marathon even the marathon when he prepares accordingly to his goals Will be interesting what Niels Laros does tho. He is 18, can run 1:43 for 800, runs 3:30 for 1.500, 3:48 Mile, and 4:48 2000, aswell a 13:20 ( in a slow race) over 5.000 Jakob’s chances to run WR in longer races (where the pace is obviously slower) he can just train to break longer races records If you look at his lactate measurements are indicating s 58 minuete flat half marathon. He had in winter a faster threshold training 2:46 pace for 4-5 minuetes with 1.8 m/mol lactate (better than any other runner in history- in future he can go sub 2 in marathon)
It is not just him. The whole field seems to be getting faster. I can't remember so many people running 1500m under 3:30 in one year. He is usually pacing 3 or 4 other guys that, on a good day, can do it. Mentally, that must be really hard to run eveything from the front.
By no means to undermine Jakob's incredible talent, but Lets not overlook the advantages that shoe technology play into all of this. Nike's alphafly and shoes like that are augementing performances by a few extra percent... thats a huge helper.
You are right. The pacing lights as well.@@jgalt1981The mentally tough part - having to run from the front - is just as hard today as it was back then. I wonder what his times and the times of his competitors would be with the older shoes though.
The two fastest miles races in history had one thing in common - another runner just a bit behind the winner and pushing the pace to greatness. You don't dwell on this at all, yet to me it seems the impetus to the records.
He will break the records because he's doing something different from the rest that clearly seems to be working. His dad has extremely unique training methods. The dude carries like a lactate metre with him at all times and regularly pricks himself to measure his blood lactate at different points. He's the only one doing this kind of lactate-guided training. Jakob is also only the only top runner in any event from the 1500 up to not be almost underweight. All runners at the top for all these events hover at around 18.6 to 18.8 BMI and Jakob just comes in with a 21.4 BMI, which is higher than the 400m record holder, Wayde van Niekerk, and about the same as the fastest 100 and 200m runner right now, Noah Lyles. Man's built like a sprinter, but is dominating the distance runners. Up to 10k, he might break the record, but I don't know about the marathon. I mean the 2nd fastest marathoner, Kelvin Kiptum, literally has a BMI of 16.12, which is like anorexic.
Love Jakob but for the Prefontaine classic you made 3 videos about Jakob, 3 videos about Coleman and Lyles, but no video about Gudaf Tsegay, even though she ran a massive WR?
Total respect for what Jakob is doing just having pacers and wave lights to break records that are decades old just wish he did these times under the same circumstances
I think he certainly achieves multiple global gold medals and likely WRs in every event from the 1500m up to the 5000m at some point in his career. I think that once/if he conquers the 1500m, both the WR and gold medals in both the Olympics and World Championships, which he will likely do before the age of 25, he swaps the 1500m for the 10k and gradually moves up in distance as he gets older. All of this assumes he stays illness/injury free throughout his career. If anyone can achieve such a lofty goal, it's Jakob.
As it says in Timothy Noakes's legendary book, 'If the best milers came off the track, they'd clean up on the roads'. I have total belief that Jacob can get the 3K, 5K and 10K records - but doubt he can get the 1500m record.
If he stays healthy , I think he will hold every wr from the 1500m to the half -marathon . His best 1500m time will be 3:25.5 . And his half Marathon time will be 57:09 ..... I don't know about the Marathon . Some of the greatest half marathon runners couldn't run a great marathon . We shall see
As for the longer distances, Jacob won 4 consecutive European cross country championships in the under 20 age group. I believe these are 8 km, and the terrain probably makes closer to a 20k track effort.
I think it's a realistic goal for him to desire to break the 1,500 WR all the way to the 5,000 WR. I think he can accomplish that in as little as 2 years. Beyond that, it's going to take some additional training. So, who knows!
He will break the 1500m & 3000m while he is still so young and fresh and given he will achieve that as an Aerobically Dominant runner I have no doubt he'll be in wr 5000m ability already given that his 3200m was Phenomenal & crushed Daniels sub 8min. Hes ready anytime to break the wr 5000m right now in my opinion. The 10,000k & h.m will come off similar training i feel given hes so powerful already. W.r will be slightly faster than his Critical Velocity anyway. Given Kipchoge wouldnt have run a 7:53 2mile I think given Jacobs rentless pursuit of domination...he will 1 day run 1:58 Marathon. He had the time & focus to dedicate to 200-240km wks down the track and hell have more 2mile leg speed than any other Marathoner. Cheers
He is still young. Assuming he remains injury free and healthy, he can probably break a few more records. I reckon 5000 is definitely within sight. I reckon 1500 and mile look like tough asks, but he is close. We will see what happens with 10k etc. Not many can take that kind of jump. Good that he has those goals though.
Remember. He’s like 6’1 at 165lbs. Likely a huge disadvantage in the longer distances. I think the 1500m might elude him. A 3:26 is absurd. 1 mile is doable, 3000m is doable, 5000m will be very tough. 10000m and up, impossible.
I think the 5000m will be his easiest WR. It's by far his strongest event. 10,000m will be tough but not impossible. He's the best 10,000m runner in Europe. He has dominated the European Cross Country Champs the past two years. An event that's roughly 10km. So I don't think his size effects him over this distance. But maybe it would for the half marathon and marathon? I guess we'll have to wait and see!
@@jamie.lennon1 the 1500m requires some (small) anaerobic capability, which is likely a handicap for the 5000m. In his current state, the 5000m WR would be tough. The Jakob that breaks the 1500m WR will not be the same Jakob that attacks the 5000m WR.
@@hillaryhillary2098 there’s a general trend that the shorter the event, the taller the elite athlete. Bolt, Van niekerk, rudisha. 6’4, 6’, 6’3. Then El guerrouj and cheptegei. 5’9, 5’6. Then Kiplimo and kipchoge for half/marathon. 5’9, 5’6. A 6’1 runner (some say he’s even taller) would be an extreme outlier. @@rc_matic Oh there is tall, then there is TALL! Bolt was TALL and for a sprinter his running form was wrong in so many ways. Heck even his own coaches doubted if he could perform in the 100m.
It is good to have ambitious goals. Jakob certainly has them. But most of this talk about him eventually holding “every WR from 1500 through marathon” is almost pure hype. For one thing, Jakob’s body type is against him. There have been powerful 1500 WR (Snell) and tall 1500 WR (Ryun) but there has never been a 1.84 m, 74 kg marathon WR. The extra weight may provide more power, but propelling it for 42195 meters will be burdensome and performance limiting.
I think that he could most definitely get the wr for most of those but since hasn't really done the 10 I think it might be too late for him and he's never evan ran a half or a full marathon so i think he wont be able to do it although eliud is pretty old so many jakob will prove me wrong and wont be to old and past his prime

He's a steady fart away from breaking Hicham's mile world record. That's amazing.
Remember shoe and track tech has really improved. For my money breaking it by three seconds would be needed to match the one mile wr
@@secretagent86you could also say doping tests weren’t as strict and thorough back then so who knows if he was on anything back then.

Brilliant job
Thanks for your work
Anyone know what spikes he was wearing during the diamond league meeting this weekend? That color way looks great.
Please do a video over Yared Nuguse, he ran a blistering 3:41.93 right behind Jakob Ingerbrigtsen for the Bowerman Mile
Nice post. Yeah, I see Jakob breaking the 5k record but not the 1500m record.
1500m - needs more progress
Mile - maybe a little more progress and a pacer than can go further than Sowinski
3000m - whenever he wants
5000m - whenever he wants
10,000m - tough one but maybe some day
Half-marathon - remains to be seen
Marathon - remains to be seen
He's quite powerfully built for a distance runner.
Hear me out:
This year's attempt, at the end of a long season, I believed gave him confidence that he is very close to getting this record.
Don't forget Yared Nuguse in the conversation of the mile record.
He will probably run 1500m in Oslo again
“almost in the same league as the Bowerman mile”
Americans rewriting history again.
Winners at Oslo:
Coe (WR), Ovett(WR), Cram(WR), Elliot. Scott, Walker, Kiprop, HEG, Morceli, Ingebrigtsen
The Bowerman was basically just a US gathering until a few years ago and the only reason it got the field it did this year is because the meet got pushed to the end of the season. Nike marketing team got a win with you I see.
I think there might be a mistake at 8:00 about the marathon world record. Isn’t the world record in the marathon 2:00:35 by kiptum? Or is that unofficial for some reason?
the kid is aiming high. hope he stays healthy and one day does the marathon in under 2 hours
Under 2 hours on the marathon has already been done-not in a race, but with pacers. Incredible feat.
Bro set a goal for the moon to keep himself motivated so he keeps going after breaking all the middle distance WRs
Thanks for bringing light to this, for the eople who aint see it.
From the same area as Haaland. Sandnes county is not that far from Time county. What they both have, you ask? Grit and a hunger for achieving more. Love for their sports. Relentlessly chasing records
Please do an analysis on the last Mile race summmary (he came just short of the record while running more distance)
If you type 'world record' or 'unreal' in the search bar of YT you have a 99% chance to bump on one of this guys video's
For 2024 my bet for Jakob is:
-Gold in 1500 Olympics
-Gold in 5000 Olympics
-Gold in 1500 Worlds
-Gold in 5000 worlds
-WR for the Mile
-WR for the 3000
- Aproach to 1500 WR
(He will brake it in 2025)
As well as a lot more victories Indoor and Outdoor...
This kid is getting crazier year after year
There's no World's in an Olympic year. There's World Indoors though.
@@jamie.lennon1 I'm kind of new in this. I've been following athletics since two years ago. I did not know that, good to know. Thank you.
@@andresvivas2814 You're welcome :) Worlds take place in the odd-number years. So 2015, 2017, 2019. The 2021 Worlds was moved to 2022 because of Covid. We're back to normal now though. Next one in 2025.
It would be interesting to get a summary into all the races he did in 2024 end of this year, including local races he might have did.
He will break the 1500m, 1 mile and 3k records. As you say though, having the wavelight tech is a huge advantage.
no doubt its a huge advantage but i would argue even without the wavelight tech he still would've broken some records. Guy will go down as the greatest to ever do it in distance running

Jakob is the GREATEST OF ALL TIME
he will break or can break the World Records over 1.500, Mile, 3.000, and 5.000 untill 2025
Past 2025 when he moves up in distance he can aswell run great 10k’s and half marathon even the marathon when he prepares accordingly to his goals
Will be interesting what Niels Laros does tho. He is 18, can run 1:43 for 800, runs 3:30 for 1.500, 3:48 Mile, and 4:48 2000, aswell a 13:20 ( in a slow race) over 5.000
Jakob’s chances to run WR in longer races (where the pace is obviously slower) he can just train to break longer races records
If you look at his lactate measurements are indicating s 58 minuete flat half marathon. He had in winter a faster threshold training 2:46 pace for 4-5 minuetes with 1.8 m/mol lactate (better than any other runner in history- in future he can go sub 2 in marathon)
Where did u get them measurements from?
Do a video about his beer mile XD
A 5:22 is no joke. Need to organize a beer mile between Ingebrigtsen and Kerr

So inspiring.
1500-marathon wr’s would be absolutely wild, but I mean, if anyone could do it he could.
Up to 10,000 I think he has in his sights. Half and full marathon possibly, but we'll probably have to wait 6+ years to know where he's at then.
He's young and once he have life he can definitely do it. I love him like crazy gets me so hyped.
does anyone know what shoes he was wearing? they look like a mix between dragonfly's and victory's
What a stride !
I am not convinced that the Ridge wallet has really changed your life.
I think he is bound to set at least one new world record next season.
That's a crazy goal, and if anyone's gonna do it, it'll be Jakob.
That's Natural Law to complete level standing
25 years after el guerrouj graced the track, a new compititor appears. Only time can tell, but the prophecies predict a new GOAT
Crazy long adverts spoilt a good video!
Amazing
25 years old is when most top athletes break world records.
Whatever happened to Donavan brazier?

3000 Meters 7:14
5000 Meters 12:25
10.000 Meters 25:50
That's Jacobs potensial in a few years time, he is the GOAT 😎
That’s a bit of a stretch
I think he certainly achieves multiple global gold medals and likely WRs in every event from the 1500m up to the 5000m at some point in his career. I think that once/if he conquers the 1500m, both the WR and gold medals in both the Olympics and World Championships, which he will likely do before the age of 25, he swaps the 1500m for the 10k and gradually moves up in distance as he gets older. All of this assumes he stays illness/injury free throughout his career. If anyone can achieve such a lofty goal, it's Jakob.
I was waiting for this video...I'm like did he forget about day2 of diamonds
Marathon!!! There is no event like it. He will be tested to the limit.😊
As it says in Timothy Noakes's legendary book, 'If the best milers came off the track, they'd clean up on the roads'. I have total belief that Jacob can get the 3K, 5K and 10K records - but doubt he can get the 1500m record.
Bay to Breakers, baby!!
First. Jakob’s season was goat status.
U20 races are about 6km. But don't forget, he's won the senior race the past two years! And that's about 10km
@@jamie.lennon1 yes, 20k was a typo
He just got married. Insane guy!
What about ultra marathon world record?
I think it's a realistic goal for him to desire to break the 1,500 WR all the way to the 5,000 WR. I think he can accomplish that in as little as 2 years. Beyond that, it's going to take some additional training. So, who knows!
no athlete has ever done this before. until the next one does.
And let's not forget the beer mile he recently won.
Still a long way to go for the sub 7.20 in the 3000m though
Long way to go? His 7.54 2mile is .1km/h slower than a 7.19 3k...and equivalent to a 7.19,99(!!!) 3k according to iaaf score lol
Cheers
And I came in here thinking you'd talk about his beer mile.
I’m almost sure that he will break WR for 1500m, mile and 3000m. I will follow Laros as well who can do that in few years imo
Without watching video I predict 2k yet again for the billionth time
He is still young.
They said the same thing about Bolt's height and frame in the sprints but look at what happened. Anything is possible
The amount of drag over the longer distances- feels like an impossible challenge
@@rc_matic Oh there is tall, then there is TALL! Bolt was TALL and for a sprinter his running form was wrong in so many ways. Heck even his own coaches doubted if he could perform in the 100m. Bolt had to cut a deal with his coach that if he could break the Jamaican 200m national record then he would be allowed to race the 100m, and he did!
Again, Faith Kipyegon had a far better season than any other athlete on the planet. Period. But yes other athletes also had good seasons.
Kipyegon doesn't bring enough click traffic, so instead we get yet another Jakob vid. He didn't even win world champs in his main event this year, lol.
Is it fair to say he's the best middle distance runner of all time?
He is so far from El Guerrouj right now, he isn't even within a second of his 1500m time right now. Look at how many sub 3:30 Hicham had. He has the potential but he is so far away right now
If he stays healthy, he can do it. However, nobody stays injury free every season they compete.
If Eugene had been an 800 m race he would not have finished in the top four….just shows how much of an aerobic athlete he is…and will always be vulnerable to an 800/1500 runner with an explosive kick ie Jake W and Josh K…..
Yeah if he improves his speed like for the 800 he will be a beast, I wonder what he could do in a 1000m race, how close he could get to the wr

Give him time. 1:58:5x in the marathon.
I predict he will lose the 1500m final to a different brit every year
Didn't he also lose the 1500 at Worlds??
