You are amazing, thank you for being real and showing all ups and downs of your journey, I have SRS as well, and been having the exact same fear as yours of having the surgery and everything become even worse (as I’ve had this happening with prior spine surgeries) and thinking that my surgeon won’t be able to do it as good since he’s never done it before, at the same time I can’t keep living with this pain I’m having rn. I feel lost and anxious, I can TOTALLY relate to you. Sorry the surgery got postponed but really hoping it’s for the best. I’ll keep you in my prayers. Do you have insta I can message you on if that’s ok with you? Please stay strong, you’re an inspiration ❤️

Thank you so much, your comment made my day! It truly is a scary thing to have a big surgery like that, especially when it's as rare as the removal/stabilization of ribs. I really hope that your surgery will be successful and that your recovery will be smooth. Do you have a date for it? Yes, I'm on instagram, you can find me @jjossen and write anytime. Stay strong, you too!

Rest!!! I did the same for my family and paid for it. Things will be there when you are able. I had cartilage removed by Dr. Hansen, but because I had a congenital deformation.
I know where you are, I know how you feel x

@@aimeebray4884 did you have your cartilage removed or did they perform the Dr Hansen technique? good to hear you're doing not too bad! :-)

I think you should go for the best option. If you're afraid of having a rib resection because it could make things worse, I think you should consult a surgeon who knows a better technique, even if it's more costly or in another country. If you know a technique is better and less risky, you should go for the safest, most effective option, even if it costs more. It's a hard choice to make, and I totally understand your situation. Stay strong!

Thank you for your comment and your support. It's difficult to know which procedure is best, and I'm guessing it's very individual as well. I've heard good and bad things about both of them, but I'll be having a long conversation with the surgeons two days before. I'll mention my worries and see what they have to say, hopefully I'll feel less worried after that :-)

@@ljungkvistt Most surgeons I consulted didn't believe me when I told them I had a pain because of the ribs. Another believed me, he saw something was wrong, and he wanted to do a resection, but after talking to a more experienced surgeon, he changed his mind, because both of them thought it might make things worse. Personally, I don't want to remove cartilage or a part of a rib. I think the cartilage and the rib need to be stabilised to get a normal form.

@@ludovicberard7043 In addition to slipped ribs, I also have a deformation on my ribcage. I think this might make it more difficult to stabilize them. But I will talk to the surgeons and If I still feel unsure about the procedure I will have to reconsider. Have you had surgery yet? Thank you for your support and advice, I hope you are doing well :-)

@@ljungkvistt I'm still looking for a way to pay a surgery in the UK or the US. I saw that a surgeon in the UK is now doing the 'Hansen technique'. Going to the UK is still cheaper than the US. But I'm not going for an irreversible rib excision or resection if there is a safer and more efficient technique.

I suffer from slipping rib myself literally feel everything crying with you literally breaking down. I have a total of 8 slipping ribs but only got 4 removed. (two on both sides). My surgery was in February 2019 I had ribs 8, and 9 on both sides with plating 7-10 (and whatever was left on 8 and 9 ) 7 which should be attached to my sternum was not a, therefore, was plated. However, the plating used was pliable and dissolved over time. So much has happened since my surgery and let's just say I'm still I pain. I hope this isn't weird but Id love to chat about relatable things such as treatment and your post of experience since we both experience the same pain that only someone who has it can experience. I am in pain every single day. It's extremely rough. Im from Florida by the way. just subscribed, so Im a new Subbie :)

      hi!!
i understand your pain and I'm so sorry that you also suffer with this!!! I had surgery on nov 6th and the first four weeks went well, progressively better day by day. then I hit about one month post op and weird pain started coming back. my surgeon told me it will be about 3-4 months until I will be able to tell if this has helped or not. I think the pain I feel now is my muscles growing back together. I'd love to talk more, if you have instagram you can DM me there! (josses is my insta). hoping for good results at some point for the both of us 💕
