Spanish Catalan Food, AMAZING Tapas, and Antoni Gaudí Attractions in Barcelona, Spain!

Day 22 of our Round The World Trip for Food with Star Alliance, we were in Barcelona, Spain. We started off the day with an amazing Catalan food meal at Can Vilaró before doing some sightseeing, eating legendary Barcelona tapas, and finishing with some of the most famous Antoni Gaudí attractions in Barcelona.
00:32 Catalan Food at Can Vilaró Restaurant - Can Vilaró is an amazing and classic restaurant in Barcelona that specializes in local Catalan food. To begin our meal, I started with a bowl of gazpacho, a cold and refreshing tomato and vegetable soup. One of the main dishes I ordered was cap i pota, a Spanish Catalan dish of trip and other organs in kind of like a stew. Finally, seeing some roasted lamb cheeks, I decided to try a few of those as well. It was a delicious meal with friendly local service. Thanks to culinarybackstreets.com/ for this recommendation! 9:16 Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya - After stopping by the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc for a while, we then continued on up the thill to the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya. If you love art, you’ll enjoy this museum in Barcelona. Price - 12 EUR
12:30 Montjuïc Castle - 5 EUR per person - One of the greatest attractions in Barcelona is the Montjuïc Castle. The castle itself is not incredible, but the views of Barcelona that you get and the perspective you can get of the city is what I think really makes the attraction worth visiting.
14:42 Legendary tapas at Quimet & Quimet - After walking down from the castle, Ying and I stopped off at Quimet & Quimet, a legendary small tapas bar in Barcelona that specializes in tapas made from pickled and canned seafood and ingredients. The owner is an expert at what he does, and you can see the passion and love he has for the tapas he prepared. The best tapa I had at Quimet & Quimet was canned mussels with caviar which came topped over a piece of crispy toast. Total price - 20 EUR
19:26 Casa Milà (La Pedrera) - 20.50 EUR - Some of the most famous attractions in Barcelona are buildings and basilicas designed by Antoni Gaudí. So on this day I decided to visit two of the most famous Antoni Gaudí complexes in a row (the day before we had already visited Sagrada Familia, you can watch that here: goo.gl/HsORjX). Casa Milà was very interesting to see and walk around and learn about Antoni Gaudí.
24:06 Casa Batlló - 22.50 EUR - Next, we walked down the street to Casa Batlló, another well known building re-designed by Antoni Gaudí. It was busier than Casa Milà, but it was also very fascinating to learn about the ideas, thoughts, and designs that went into the construction.
On Day 22 we did quite a bit of sightseeing of attractions in Barcelona, and the highlight of the day for me was the first Catalan food meal at Can Vilaró Restaurant.

Preserved food in Spain has a lot of tradition and it's very well known inside our country as a really good quality product, some of them are even more expensive than their fresh sea food version.

I couldn’t eat that tripe dish, and I wouldn’t get very enthused about the lamb face (half a head?) but you seem to love everything like it’s the best thing you ever had! People are always drawn to you bc you always have an enormous smile on your face and people can see you are having the time of your life, always when you are enjoying food like it’s the best thing that you ever ate!
The weather looked AMAZING!! I would love for you to mention the months you traveled to certain countries because we can at least have an idea of when is the best time to go to certain places. I want to go to BARCELONA to experience the Tapas and that beautiful country. I love your travel videos!!
Sept is the best month in spain. The weather is still nice in the cooler sections like the northern mountains and Pyrenees mountains and starting to get not so hot in Seville. All of Europe is must cheaper once the kids go back to school. A hotel on the med in Marcia spain was 50 euro in sept. vs 150 euro in July. Spain has more flux then most places in price. You will not be alone though as many of the older people and couples without children are also taking advantage of the cheaper prices.
Flights are cheaper too. Some places like the alps you dont see the drop in prices as much but between summer and ski season its not bad. I love the big cities bit they are pricy. I found renting a car and getting in the small villages and roadside inns in every European country were very cheap. The dinner was pricy but excellent.
Central America and northern south america anytime but the June july aug have more travelers to meet. South america is tricky. The high Andes and such are cold but the June july Aug has people touring too so you either go when it's cold and happening or a little warm but more empty. Winter is opposite down there. Asia and Africa are anytime. Australia spring and fall. If not its hot and in the north rainy.
Cheap fights direct from Miami are $500 to barcelona. Look separate to Miami.
From NY is cheap too.

The only way I can survive watching Mark's videos is if I'm eating something myself! It's difficult for me to watch, wanting to try those same delicious-looking dishes. Once, for about two weeks, I was eating just about all of my dishes with spoons trying to mimic Mark.

I always thought Gazpacho (and I make my own at home from an ethnic cookbook) tasted like a cross between salsa and V-8 juice. Love the stuff. Gazpacho, vichyssoise, and cold pear soup. YUM.

The little breads that you put into your gazpacho are crostó , it's exactly the same as croutons. The wine is called Vino rosado de casa. My grandmother lives on the same street as that restaurant and that place is a little cal favourite. They have a dish called "Lengua " that I'm sure you would've liked.
The Montjuic Fountains are on display every Friday , Saturdays and Sunday at 10pm

As an architecture student, Barcelona is my dream city to visit. Gaudi is definitely one of my favourite architects. Thank you for sharing a glimpse of his works! Also I would choose Casa Milà too because of the roof. One day for sure I will make it there!

Jimmy Ning Many Spaniards aren’t friendly to Dark brown/Black people. I experienced and have horror stories of racism. I had a better experience in Barcelona though, but it was not good in Madrid.

In the city where I live in Switzerland, we used to have a spanish restaurant which seems similar to the place you enjoyed breakfast in. It was underground, in a basement, with zero charm and no atmosphere at all, but with really simple and tasty and truely spanish food. A spanish friend brought me there, and I was probably the only not spanish person there. Sadly this place is not longer around, but I have very found memories of eating there. This video brings back those memories. Thanks a lot for that.
