Nice that you have a fellow trike rider to go on these adventures i have to ride alone as there are very few fellow recumbent riders near me and the one that is is more interested in racing than long distance touring which is more my interest
I have a trike too yes their great as an overall recumbent i also have a Baccetta mid racer a ransV2 lol like to have some variety lol.On your steep climbs try zig zagging up if road clear helps on the climb
Take a look on this site in Germany for electric drives, PSPOWER.com the Motor is the TSDZ2 250 watt with crank sensor, these are supposed to be very reliable and easy to maintain, plus they are stocked in the EU so no problems with import tax, and they are a lot cheaper than the shimano.
You are breathless going up hills. I assume your gearing is too high as should take the same effort on hills as on the straights with low enough gearing, you just travel slower which on a trike should not be an issue as you wont fall over if too slow.
Martin Bailey your not wrong on route 72 first down hill I lost my garmin sat nav. On this ride I had no signal all day strava never connected and Anthony had signal but no battery left. Next time it’s a laminated map. 👍
Beautiful scenery
Brian Rayment Yorkshire dales has some natural beauty going on 👍

lol were,s the bloody down hills
The wider the front wheels the better when you are screaming downhill. And you wish your tires can suddenly be three times as fat.
