There were four democrats running in the primary against her, and it took a runoff to select Shawn Harris, a retired brigadier general (one-star) w/the unenviable task of opposing her in November, an election in which The Hill calculates his chances at winning at less than 1%. Boebert w/her last election w/50.08% of the vote, a margin of victory so slim that the state of Colorado had to spend a month recounting the ballots, during which they found a whopping four errors out of about 275,000 votes. The Democratic count went UP by one. The Republican count went DOWN by three. So instead of winning by 120 votes, she won by 116. She doesn't think she can do that again, so she's now running in another district of Colorado since its incumbent is tired of Congressional shenanigans. Despite 22% of her own state approving of her, another 62% disapproving, and the last sixteen not knowing her, her cherry picking has given her a hand towards keeping her job. (And Boebert knows all about hand jobs.) She's running against Trisha Calvarese, and the poll numbers are interesting: Boebert gets 55% of the vote among people who don't know who Calvarese is, but only 45% of the vote among people who do...which is the different between Republicans & Democrats running for office. When Trump says he loves the poorly educated, he's not lying: to know Republicans is to like Democrats.
There's a reason people desperately try to come here illegally and we have the worst illegal immigration problem on this planet. America is literally the best this planet has to offer. We sure as hell aren't perfect, and there is a lot we can improve on, but the entire world relies on America and my precious tax dollars. You should be proud to be an American. As an American living abroad, I can understand your feelings. I teach American civilization to English majors in a French university and it is sometimes hard to answer the questions about what is going on. I still think the ideals that America was founded upon are worthy, even if we don't always live up to them. I believe that it IS important to question and criticize one's government, for how else can we progress? I chose to study foreign languages because that way I get to understand other's points of view of how things should work and one thing that has come out is that governing is never easy. Even if you move abroad to avoid certain problems, you'll just come up against different problems. There's no such thing as a perfect country.

As a native Floridian of 60 years, DeSantis is the best governor Florida has ever had. He saved us during covid. Many more people are moving TO Florida than moving out. THAT is proof of something good.
