And, during the free struggle of 1857 not all rebels declared Bhahadur Shah Zafar as their leader. Many rebels fought under Maratha Peshwa Nana Saheb, Rani of Jhansi, and Raja Kuwar Singh of Jagdishpur. In fact, Bahadur Shah Zafar was the one who betrayed the rebels of Delhi. Brits exiled him, where he died in poor condition. Why? because he was the primary organizer of rebellion (rebellion failed because he wasn't experienced enough to lead guerilla wars). With regards to Marathas, they were experiences warriors, and they used mountainous areas to raid their enemies. Had they fought the brits, india would never have become a colony. They sided with Brits in 1799 against Tipu Sultan and most probably, they facilitated british invasion of india.

    • @soumyadas6958

@aub3365 If your read history then you wouldn't have said that. Maratha fought 3 wars with the brits what is called anglo-maratha wars. And, Marathas were not only mountainous warriors, they also had the best cavalry of that time time that is why Maratha Empire was expanded from Attock (Pakistan) to Cuttack and Delhi to Tanjavur. Peshwa Bajirao I was regarded the best cavalry general of that time. Peshwa Balaji Bajirao, Raghunath Rao, Madhavrao I, Mahadji Scindia and other maratha generals has expanded the Maratha Empire. And, brits exiled Bahadur Shah Zafar because he was double crossing them and they lost trust on him. And, Tipu Sultan was not fighting for India's independence, he was just fighting for his own kingdom. That time Tipu was taking the support of the French and Ottoman Empire to fight against the brits. And, French also wanted to colonize India at that time. If Tipu was fighting for India's independence then he wouldn't took the support of other colonial powers of that time like the French and the Ottomans. Not only Marathas, the Nizam of Hyderabad had also supported the Brits against Tipu. And, for you kind information Tipu and his father Hyder Ali were never the legitimate ruler of Mysore. In fact, his father Hyder Ali deposed the then ruler of Mysore the Wadiyar king from the throne illegally and put him along with his family under house arrest which was continued by Tipu as well. The people of Mysore never expected Tipu and his father as their legitimate ruler. And, after the death of Tipu the Wadiyar dynasty was again restored to the throne by the Brits which was accepted by the Marathas and Nizam.

You have come with an interesting question that is frequently raised regarding Mughals.
As a student of History, as far as I know, the Mughals were people of mixed Turko-Mongol origin who came from the Transoxiana region of Central Asia which was earlier ruled by the Chaghtai Khanate. When Central Asia was ruled by Genghiz Khan and later his sons, many Mongol tribes from Mongolia came and settled down in Transoxiana. Before Mongols, Turkic sultanates like the Seljuk and Ghaznavids had ruled over this region and their rule left behind a huge Turkic influence on the culture of this area. Over time, many of the Mongol tribes who settled in Transoxiana adopted Turkic culture and customs and even married with Turks. These also included the Barlas Tribe, from whom Timur is said to have descended. These tribes now started proudly calling themselves Turks and looked down on their Mongol origins ( even considering their Mongol bretheren as barbarians). That is why Timur also prefered to call himself a Turk. However, he idolized Genghiz Khan and followed his footsteps to unite Turks and Mongols of Central Asia to form a large empire like his idol. In order to acquire legitimacy, he married Saray Mulk Khanum, daughter of Qazan Khan, last Mongol ruler of Chaghtai Khan's lineage.
From this marriage, he became the Guregen or Gurkan (son-in-law) of Chaghtai Khans and thus tried to trace linkage with Chaghtai and in turn Genghiz, father of Chaghtai. After Timur's death, his empire was divided among his sons and latter grandsons. However, like Timur, they called themselves Turks and disliked being Mongol. This notion was passed on to Babur through his father Umar Shaikh Mirza. Babur's own mother tongue was Chaghtai Turkic a Turko-Mongol language which developed under Chaghtai rule. Even though Babur's own mother was of Mongol origin, he prefered to call himself Timurid. Moreover, he was learned in Persian and thus highly influenced by Persian culture.
At the end I would like to appreciate your work. This was an informative video. Keep going and make more of such videos. I would suggest Nanda empire, Kabul Shahi and Hindu Shahi dynasties as topics.
    Wish you a good day

On top of it there is granite stone of 80 tonnes. Angor Wat is a Hindu temple built by tamil king Surya Varman during 11th century. This is enough to prove that Hindus knew how to build big structures much before mughals. I want to ask u a question. Why muslims didn't build big structures outside India?
Opinion among people is that Taj Mahal, Qutab minar were originally built by Rajput kings. They were modified to islamic structures by muslim invaders. U can see a hindu temple in the same premises where qutab minar stands. A carving of Hindu god ganapathy is also seen in the temple.

Thanks for shedding light on this issue. Actually, what Babur called Moghols were the people of the domains of his uncles. He thought his uncles were less educated then him, and did not appreciate poetry. According to him, they were following the military structure set by Chengiz blindly. He appreciates their surgical skills when they fixed him up after a battle. I think he referred to people to the north and east of Farghana as Moghols. Most likely it was a derogatory term at the time.

In south india, we had great native kingdom states seperate from those of north indian sultanates, south indian kingdoms were strong and successful in fending off invasion unlike conqured north rajput kindgoms. One intresting ancedote i want to mention is in 'Baburnama' babur himself mentioned answer to the question pondering that who was the most powerful king in india in his era? He answered it was a south indian emperor 'Shri Krishna devaraya' Emperor of Vijayanagara Empire ( lord ruling all of south india) with 1 million strong Imperial army in whole of sub continent and babur admited outrightly in his autobiography in an event, if at all he were to wage a war against hime he would be toast!!

Turkic refers to the broader cultural and linguistic identity of all Turkic peoples (which include Turkish, Kazakh, Uzbek, Tatar peoples, etc.). There is nothing called as Turko-Mongol btw my overwhelmingly confused bhai i have told you many times, The term "Turko-Mongol" was not used contemporaneously by the people in question. It is a modern historiographical construct developed by scholars to describe the political, military, and cultural amalgamation between Turkic and Mongol societies during the medieval period. The Mongols, under Genghis Khan and his successors, brought together various nomadic groups, including Turkic tribes, and their conquests spread across lands traditionally inhabited by Turkic peoples, This term was introduced by morden historians and scholars, According to them Turko-Mongol refers to the cultural, linguistic, and military fusion that resulted from the interaction of Turkic and Mongol peoples, especially after the rise of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. But it was not a term used during the medieval period, The peoples of the Mongol Empire or their Turkic counterparts did not identify themselves under a collective “Turko-Mongol” identity. Rather, they saw themselves as Mongols, Turks, or by specific tribal affiliations like Kipchak oghuz karluk etc. Timurids were totally different from the borderly Mongols of Chagatai Khanate, Cuz the Turkic population within the Khanate was generally referred as Chagatai Turks cuz of their ethno linguistics factor, While the Mongols within the Khanate and from borders retain there identity as Moughal, At the time of Timur the Barlas tribe which is enlisted in the initial mongol conquests, Was totally Turkic in nature culture language traditions music art dance festival cuisine custom, So they weren't looking themselves as Mongols but the Turks, But at the time of Timur and other Timurids, Timurid/Chagatai Turk Tribes were one of the largest Turkic tribes in the region, And every Timurid ruler used to have some serious hatred towards Mughals or Mongols as they mentioned them as robbers thief and uncivilized people in central Asian in their own writings, So the Timurids were paternaly Turks had nothing to do with Mughals or Mongols, So, these groups did not consider themselves to be a fusion in the way modern historians use the term Turko-Mongol. They saw themselves as either Mongols or Turks, depending on their ruling class, language, and cultural practices, So the best way to identify them according to their own perspective will be just Turks and not Turko-Mongols, You pakzis are totally absurd, with your identity, That's make my day special pakzi 😂🤭😁✌️.

The only reason why lots of people hating mughals nowadays is because their religion. Now, somebody will come against this saying that the British were Christian, but they are hated. But, apart from other dynasties which settled here British empire was obviously a foreign nation coming from far away by sea and conquered the land.
Imagine this Babur guy converted to Hinduism and made this empire. You will see 90% of hindutva channels supporting that hindu mughal empire. There is an opposite side for this. The hindu Maratha empire is often glorified, even though they've committed atrocities and done brutal conquests in indian subcontinent. Only because they are hindu. So, what I want to say is that every empire, whether Maurya, gupta, Delhi sultanate or mughals or Marathas has commited atrocities and wars. there literally no freedom, equality, democracy or any modern values which makes us humans back then. Stop glorying old empires and be happy of the modern constitutional Democratic republic which guarantees(At least they guarantees!) us human Rights, freedom, equality and justice. If the current government has faults, it's our duty to correct them as citizens. Be modern. Embrace modern values. Stop living in 'good old days' daydream.

You are right. Babur and his descendants before him were Turks and disassociated themselves from Mongols. People in India didn't differentiate much between Mongols and Turks from that region maybe because Taimoor was also a descendent of Chughtai khan from his meternal side. So yes they were Turks and had mongol wives time to time because Babar inherited an empire from Taimoor and Taimoor's grand father married grand daughter of Ghengis Khan and had an alliance with one of the Mongol forces. It's natural that their cultures would have been mixed also by living together especially as an empire but they were not Mongols so it's obvious they would have never called themselves "Mughals".
