      Oh just so I can make sure the babies are born in one tank....or small pen, and then the females go back with the males of their color. Also this is so they don't get pregnant by a different color morph

    off topic Question:!!! Has anyone every experienced having a betta that gets
    really upset and starts to hide away? I have recently changed my
    betta's tank ... upgraded her to another larger tank. She got so upset
    and hid. She did come out and acted just fine. However she started
    staying inside her cave again. I gave her a treatment of General Care
    meds and put Indian Almond Leaves inside her tank. She came out a bit
    and did have an appetite and ate a bit. She doesn't appear to be
    having labored breathing from the observance I've been able to do. I
    decided it might help to put her back into her old tank as it was still
    up and running with good water parameters, same as the tank she was in.
    She ate this morning, but now is hiding again. I'd appreciate any
    experience anyone has had with this or any suggestions. THX!

      Yes. I think some just do that. Id try feeding live food...heat the tank if it's not already, and also give the betta some live food to hunt :) that should all help

    • @heaven7360
      @heaven7360 4 года назад

      @@Fishtory Well thank you for responding. I am so worried about her. I think bettas are emotional. Yes, she's in a heated tank and she did eat a couple blood worms last night. I have heard there is a time span that they can go without eating. At one time I had a female wild betta and she was just so shy. I picked some bloodworms with tweezers and actually fed her in the aquarium by holding the bloodworms right at the opening in her cave. She was plenty hungry and did eat, gradually making her way out of the cave to feed when she heard the lid of the aquarium moving a little.
      I have been wondering how your cool wild betta pair are doing and if they spawned. I hope this works for you!! I found a website called bwaquatics.com Blackwater Aquatics.... They have many wild bettas for sale...not the ones you have...(I can't spell the name...Macrostoma?) Anyway....I don't post this to take away from the website you refer to sometimes...this site only sells wild bettas anyway. I purchased an Api Api and a Hendra wild betta from them. It was a very good experience. Just thought I'd put that out there for wild betta enthusiasts.
      Just chatting away instead of worrying. I hope you and your wife and everyone out there are all okay. I have a feeling this country is going to go through some profound changes "somewhere over the rainbow" when this has passed...which it will.
      Again, thanks for your reply.

    Have you seen if feeding frozen is just as good as live? Why would it not be?

    • @Fishtory
      @Fishtory  2 года назад +3

      Yes...so it is not. It's funny you ask, because I just filmed a video on it last night ("the Brine Shrimp lie" or "the Brine Shrimp conspiracy".) Lol so I'll go into more detail soon, but- GREAT QUESTION 👍
      - freezing (unless done dry, vacuum chambered at -60f or lower) causes cells to rupture, (just as we can't freeze and unthaw human tissue without frostbite without very specific and currently expensive tech.)
      - 2nd the frozen Shrimp are generally of a "consumer grade" the lowest of 4 or 5 Brine Shrimp grades in nutrition
      3.) Some companies will enhance the nutritional content by gut loading the Shrimp before freezing..and that is great when you find it! But most brands actually add or reduce sodium in solution and try to swell the weight of the Shrimp with free water weight, which is true for frozen bloodworms also!
