  • The 7 Artisans 50mm f1.05 L mount lens redefines what a US$400 lens is capable of. When it comes to build quality and feel, this feels more like a US$2000 lens.

I have shot film for 20 years (medium format 7yrs) and obsess about the subtlety of tone that comes from slight imperfections of film and old glass. this lens has that exact same feel.....on digital......!!!!!!!!! I am considering this lens because I am moving into video and considering Panasonic S5. Thank you for clearing up many things for me. Beautiful glass.

I bought this lens in January 2024 from a Chinese University student who brought it directly from China (just a cool origin story) and its snowy here in Calgary. I can not wait to use it when the world is green again and not white and dead as these winters tend to be. Its such an interesting lens.

LOVE IT! BOUGHT THE 90MM and use it for weddings!!! Amazing... Now I am buying this one and saving from buying the 1.2 Nikon. I know there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE, but manual focus and creating artistic images that will look different than the competition is what makes this lens so attractive for my wedding photography. I use the TT Artisan Lens about 8% of every wedding now and that is just enough to get unique shots.

Hello. I want to buy a 50mm luminose lens and I am thinking to buy this to my Lumix S5. I have try with a 50mm in AF but I always shot in manual. Do you think will be a good option to buy this lense for night photography and portrait (450€) or buy the 50mm 1.4 DG HSM ART by sigma (650€)? Thanks!!

If 7artisans reads the comments, here's a suggestion that could benefit many of us, and you too; make an M-42 version that can be adapted or used with current adapters for the rest of us, I am a Pentax user and, being this a manual lens, I already own the M-42 to k adapter. There are adapters for Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc. WIden your market. I own a working Spotmatic and several k-mount bodies, also an adapter for the k-mount lenses to EOS mount that accepts the M-42 to k mount adapter, a three-way fix. I also own a Sony MA body, a Minolta MD body, Canon FD and EOS bodies.

The idea is good! But unfortunately I don't think there will be a possibility to make a super fast lens for DSLR mount. I read some comments that even M-mount is a struggle for the lens design to work with. Truly EF has max 1.0 lens, but the image quality is so compromised. That's why mirroless mount is the better choice. Also Nikon built the world's best quality 0.95 for the huge size Z-mount.

Have you tried the TTArtisans 50 f0.95 M mount lens on the S1R (of course with the M to L adapter)?? Just curious and if so how do you think they compare?

    • @TECH360TV
      @TECH360TV  3 года назад +2

I’ve tried a friends briefly on the S1R. Not enough for a direct comparison. I did ask TT Artisans to review it but so far no luck.
The 7 Artisans is smaller and feels lighter on the camera.
Also I think it’s slightly sharper wide open but that’s 1.05 vs .95 so there will be a difference.
Build quality they are about equal though.
Flares are more pronounced on the 7 Artisans.
Perhaps in the future I will be able to do a side by side comparison

7artisans definitely lied about the price. 13:55 he says $186.
I checked the price history from 03.21.2021-31.01.2022 €539-€500.
So, Chinese lens without autofocus more expensive than the original Panasonic 50mm F1.8 AF. for €430.
    LOL

"... it is build like a tank"
omg - I don´t know how many times I have heard that - and how many times no-one made a test!
This is just so .... if you cannot veryfy QUALITY, than do not do that! You and everbody else can only veryfy HAPTICS, that is all. This is a huge difference.
PS: If something is heavy it does NOT mean that it is more rugged.

ok I understand what you saying. Fair enough my choice of words perhaps wasn’t the best, what I was referring to is sometimes shooting too wide open doesn’t result in the best way to capture a subject. Don’t chase the bokeh but work on composition, light etc.
