I bought this lens in January 2024 from a Chinese University student who brought it directly from China (just a cool origin story) and its snowy here in Calgary. I can not wait to use it when the world is green again and not white and dead as these winters tend to be. Its such an interesting lens.
I have shot film for 20 years (medium format 7yrs) and obsess about the subtlety of tone that comes from slight imperfections of film and old glass. this lens has that exact same feel.....on digital......!!!!!!!!! I am considering this lens because I am moving into video and considering Panasonic S5. Thank you for clearing up many things for me. Beautiful glass.
If 7artisans reads the comments, here's a suggestion that could benefit many of us, and you too; make an M-42 version that can be adapted or used with current adapters for the rest of us, I am a Pentax user and, being this a manual lens, I already own the M-42 to k adapter. There are adapters for Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc. WIden your market. I own a working Spotmatic and several k-mount bodies, also an adapter for the k-mount lenses to EOS mount that accepts the M-42 to k mount adapter, a three-way fix. I also own a Sony MA body, a Minolta MD body, Canon FD and EOS bodies.
The idea is good! But unfortunately I don't think there will be a possibility to make a super fast lens for DSLR mount. I read some comments that even M-mount is a struggle for the lens design to work with. Truly EF has max 1.0 lens, but the image quality is so compromised. That's why mirroless mount is the better choice. Also Nikon built the world's best quality 0.95 for the huge size Z-mount.
Hello. I want to buy a 50mm luminose lens and I am thinking to buy this to my Lumix S5. I have try with a 50mm in AF but I always shot in manual. Do you think will be a good option to buy this lense for night photography and portrait (450€) or buy the 50mm 1.4 DG HSM ART by sigma (650€)? Thanks!!
Have you tried the TTArtisans 50 f0.95 M mount lens on the S1R (of course with the M to L adapter)?? Just curious and if so how do you think they compare?
I’ve tried a friends briefly on the S1R. Not enough for a direct comparison. I did ask TT Artisans to review it but so far no luck. The 7 Artisans is smaller and feels lighter on the camera. Also I think it’s slightly sharper wide open but that’s 1.05 vs .95 so there will be a difference. Build quality they are about equal though. Flares are more pronounced on the 7 Artisans. Perhaps in the future I will be able to do a side by side comparison
@@TECH360TV I have a 3d printer, and clay and metal casting.. would you be interested in a canon 50mm 1.2 lens-hood clone that fits a 58mm filter thread for this lens?
@@TECH360TV well I tend to think L and z use a very similar color space. I just feel the L mount is losing too much ground. Both brands are struggling but I have more faith in Nikon
I did not understand this as an excuse but as an explanation. I know what you have been after and why you felt you did not quite make it. The technical tools you use to get where you want to be are as interesting as the ideas behind them.
7artisans definitely lied about the price. 13:55 he says $186. I checked the price history from 03.21.2021-31.01.2022 €539-€500. So, Chinese lens without autofocus more expensive than the original Panasonic 50mm F1.8 AF. for €430. LOL
"... it is build like a tank" omg - I don´t know how many times I have heard that - and how many times no-one made a test! This is just so .... if you cannot veryfy QUALITY, than do not do that! You and everbody else can only veryfy HAPTICS, that is all. This is a huge difference. PS: If something is heavy it does NOT mean that it is more rugged.
It doesn't look professional? Never heard of it in 30+ year of photography.I also can't remember that someone in school back then mentioned if image is professional or not.
ok I understand what you saying. Fair enough my choice of words perhaps wasn’t the best, what I was referring to is sometimes shooting too wide open doesn’t result in the best way to capture a subject. Don’t chase the bokeh but work on composition, light etc.

Glad to help. S5 is a very nice camera especially for the price
yup on S5 and this lens is in the shopping list
K Reagan, did u ever buy this lens? Curious what u think of it. Thank you
11:42 is just perfect! Love it!
I love your Lumix S content

Would love to see you do a portrait shoot with the 50mm f1.2 GM
Let’s see what I can do :)
Are you shooting on fuji? What an amazing color rendering.
Great vid! Where to get that shirt though?
Would love to see this vs an adapted TTArtisan 50mm f.095
Would love to review this lens but so far TT Artisan hasn’t been so keen to let me test one for review

Sick Tshirt!! Where can I grab one??
character does/must not be perfect. So for me this lens IS perfect as it has character :D
Extremely sweet lens!
Agree
got my l mount autofocus adapter for e mount. excited to get this on and see how it autofocuses.
They make that?? Where??
This is a manual lens

None clicked aperture is a deal breaker for me. Most photographers don't care about video.
TTARTISAN 50mm 1.4 has one of the best bokeh.
I'm curious how 7art looks on 1.4.
I would like to test TT artisan lenses but so far they are not that keen to let me review. Hopefully in the future that will change
Do you have a recommended lens hood to go with this and improve contrast?
I don’t. Prob best to search at a local camera shop to see what fits

Have you focus peaking with this manual lens on lumix cameras? I have s5
oh man maybe i get this Lens :)
Sorry amazing guy, i love your videos and i love you so much ...!
Thanks 😊
Did you test on z mount?
No. I was only passed one Mount to use
