    I see production quality going up with every video and I like where it's all going. Keep up the great work. ;)

    I think this meant for full frame grade. When you use for more demanding apsc sensor, it'll crumble. You are meant to use the 35 0.95 for apsc use and ttartisan 50 1.2 for the 50mm.

    It makes little sense that you didn't test a full-frame lens on your full-frame body. I get many of your subscribers are APS-C shooters, but many others use full-frame too. When reviewing full-frame lenses, consider reviewing them in both bodies... It would be very helpful to know how a lens performs on each case

    Another great video your videos makes me feel assured for switching to Sony system, Recently got a A6000 and planning to get A6300 for 4k capability.

    About the lack of fine tune focus, my experience with manual lenses personally is that its easier to get close to focus with ring, then move camera forward/back for fine focus. I do that for just about all manual lenses.
    EDIT: I guess this isn't useful for tripod use

    • @Yourmomma568
      @Yourmomma568 9 месяцев назад

      I own the lens, and focusing isn't that hard. The ring has no play at all and is buttery smooth. While.I agree with your statement, that is a good pro tip, even if you're on a tripod, nailing focus is pretty easy if you have focus magnification. Maybe you could do it if you had good eyes, but I wear glasses and need the magnification. Point is, if you can see the sharpness, then you can hit focus with this lens no problem.

    thanks for this wonderful video! great images you've posted! i ordered one and it'll be here within the next 4 hours, so i'm pretty excited about it, the slow pace will be fun for sure but it'll also be annoying shooting anything that's not static from my skill level. i got the tt artisan one and the metal build is amazing feel compared to the plastic lens these days.

  • @brackodejacko
    @brackodejacko 3 года назад +4

    It's a full frame lens though right? I didn't hear why you chose to use a crop sensor. Could that change the results?

    • @saifaldin_
      @saifaldin_ 3 года назад +1

      Generally it would. It is harder to resolve details on a 24MP aps-c sensor compared to a 24MP fullframe sensor. Shortcomings in terms of sharpness & abberations would be less prominent on the fullframe camera. Still, the difficult focus ring problem remains.

    • @jobbagyferi

      It has 0 sense to use it on aps-c. But he is an aps-c fan.

      @@jobbagyferi aps-c community is underserved on RUclips, so I get why the channel is more geared to that. I just wish he at least explained why he decided to do this.

    2024, I picked this lens up for about $160 USD recently. It is an impressive lens but yeah Arthur is right, its not the greatest. Its better than what you pay for but no competition for a G or GM lens. Just think of it as a really good vintage lens and you will be happy.

    I know I've written it before but Arthur you should really check out the kamlan 21mm 1.8. I put it against my sigma 19mm 2.8 and it was sharper. Great little lens and affordable too

    I've always enjoyed your reviews, I shoot Fuji but, lots of overlap with these manual lenses. I have the 35mm F.95 from them and it, flaws and all, is a wonderful lens. I'd be pretty tempted if they did this lens in X-Mount.

    how does this lens compare against the kamlan or 7artisans 50mm f1.1 . i got the kamlan but offcenter bright spots become cones, a bit annoying when doing astrophotography

    Among TTartisans 50mm F1.2, the 7Artisans 55mm f1.4 and Viltrox 56mm f1.4 which one is best for sharpness, chromatic aberration/fringing and Bokeh?? I'm not concerned with autofocus?? If anyone of the first two are better I can ignore autofocus of the Viltrox. Please share your ideas or make a comparative video about these three. All these three lenses are similarly priced. So if other things are similar Viltrox will be a better buy as it has autofocus.

    Hey Arthur, are you planning on making a review about the new Tamron 11-20 F2.8? I haven't seen much about it on RUclips, it seems a pretty good lens to compete with the Sony 10-18 F4

    Hello Arthur, I am a huge huge fan of you. On your recommendation only I got myself sony a6400 , Sigma 16mm f1.6 and Sigma 56mm F1.4 .
    But unfortunately I do not get the awesome colors of jpeg/raw images as I see in your videos. I am definitely sure they are not edited and straight out of the camera pics which is what shocks me.
    CAN YOU PLEASE SHARE YOU CAMERA SETTINGS TO GET THE SIMILAR IMAGE COLORS AS YOURS!! PLEASE .

    Its kinda gets old with all of these 50 ish mm lenses that are manual and have something between 0.9 and 1.1 aperture. Imo they are useless until stoped down, but if you stop it down why not to buy some Sigma 1.4 to begin with?

    • @aditya_gupta
      @aditya_gupta 3 года назад +1

      It's for full frame and you don't have many options there. Also, it will fare much better in terms of sharpness in a full frame sensor.

    A full-frame lens should be reviewed on FF body. There are ultrafast APS-C lenses and guess what, they're smaller, too. No point in buying a FF lens like this if you have an APS-C body. One, it defeats the compactness perk of the set-up, two - FF lenses are always 2-3x more expensive than comparable APS-C. This channel is great and has a ton of quality content, but the reasoning behind this specific video is just off.

    It's not "more bokeh", it's shallower DOF. Bokeh is the *quality* of the out of focus appearance, not the level of blurriness.

    Why would you compare a full frame lens to apsc lenses? You have to compare apples to apples. It is easier and cheaper to manufacture apsc lenses
