Jails are not equipped to deal with mental health. We need to do better to support mental health issues in custodial situations

Very true and mental illness is not always a defense for being a criminal. There’s also just low class, trashy people and drug addicts that consciously make bad decisions. We need to stop giving a pass for just flat out being a bad person.

It's clear that some people need mental health help. Even then you can't force someone to take medication or other forms of treatment. Nobody's your friend, especially not there.
